ADVANTAGES 1747-DPS1/DPS2 port splitters allow single RS-232/DF1 ports on Rockwell Automation controllers (e.g. SLC™ 500, MicroLogix™, PLC-5®, ControlLogix®, CompactLogix™) to be expanded (or split) for communication with two externaldevices at the same time. The 1747-DPS1, when connected to a controller, provides one full-function port for two-way communication between the controller and a local network. The second port is respond-only and can run a programming terminal or human machine interface (HMI). Both the network port and respond-only port are DF1 full-duplex 19.2 kbaud. The 1747-DPS2 provides similar functionality but also allows the network port to be configured for communication with DH-485, DF1 half duplex (master or slave), DF1 full duplex, or DF1 radio modem networks. The network port is configurable with a software utility provided via web access. Both products require an external 24V DC power source connected to power source terminals. All communications ports use standard Allen-Bradley programming cables. The DPS2 port splitter has fully-isolated communication ports. Therefore, no external isolation is required.
