referring to the ABYC (10%) Voltage Drop table to determine the correct wire sizes. Ensure that AC mains wiring has suitably rated insulation for line voltage, in accordance with ANSI & NEC standards. 4. Ensure the circuit has appropriately sized protection (fuse or circuit breaker) to ensure both wiring and the fixture are adequately protected.
Approvals & Classifications:
CAUTION: Before assembling your lighting fixture, refer to the section titled Electrical Connections. GENERAL 1. All electrical connections must be in accordance with local codes, ordinances, or NEC (National Electric Code) regulations. If you are unfamiliar with methods of installing electrical wiring, seek the service of a qualified licensed electrician before proceeding any further. 2. These fixtures are supplied with hardware that allows for safe and effective mounting to a 4” x 2 1/8” deep metal octagon connection box. If installing this way, be sure the box is supported by building or vessel structure. 3. Before beginning the installation, disconnect the power at the circuit breaker. Turning off power at the switch is not sufficient to prevent electrical shock.
FINAL ASSEMBLY 1. Spread the electrical splices so that the black wires are on one side of the outlet box and the white wires are on the other side. 2. Place fixture against the mounting surface allowing the mounting screws (or threaded nipple) to pass through the fixture coverplate. Secure with the mounting nut provided. Note: If mounting on wall, be sure that the lamp base is at bottom of fixture. 3. Install the light bulb (not included). Do not exceed recommended wattage! 4. If installed on an outdoor wall, fixture must be sealed around the top and sides of the cover plate to reduce the chance of water entering into the wire splicing area. Leave the bottom side of fixture clear of sealant to allow any moisture an avenue to escape. 5. Restore power and check the operation of your new lighting fixture.
UNPACKING THE FIXTURE Check the contents of the box. You should have received: 1. Mounting Bracket and Hardware Package 2. Fixture with Glass Lens and Protective Cage PREPARING FIXTURE 1. If you are replacing an existing fixture, disconnect power at breaker and remove the old fixture, exposing the supply wires from the outlet body. 2. Separate the glass lens from the fixture by removing the two machine screws on the protective cage. 3. If you are installing fixture to a connection (outlet) box, remove the threaded nipple screw from the hardware package and screw this three complete turns into the mounting bracket and lock into place with hex-nut. 4. Fasten the mounting bracket to the outlet box using the two screws provided. The machine screws or threaded nipple should be facing the outward direction. 5. While supporting the fixture cover plate, connect the grounding wire (green or bare copper) from the fixture to the grounding conductor of the supply circuit. (If connecting to low voltage DC, the ground wire may be capped off). Attach all of the grounding conductors to the mounting bracket with the green grounding attachment screw. You are now ready to make your electrical connections. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (refer to Fig 1) 1. This model has a socket rated for AC or DC. For AC applications: Green wire connects to vessel (or building) ground, White to neutral, and Black to line (Hot). Otherwise for DC you may cap off the ground and either the black or white wires may be wired to vessel’s POS (+) and/or NEG(-) as polarity is not recognized. 2. For marine installations, always use approved marine-grade connectors. Alternatively, wires may be tinned & soldered and protected with heat shrink (preferably compound filled type). Never twist and tape wires.

3. Ensure wiring is of sufficient size to provide for a safe, reliable system. For marine new build or refit, we recommend using minimum 16AWG (2.5mm Sq) type 2 (boat cable) conductors for supply cable. We also recommend 01/2015 v1.00
