Welcome and thank you for your attendance and support Welcome to the 2016 Enchanted Masquerade Auction benefiting Oak Forest Elementary. We can't believe after almost a year of planning that we are finally here. This year has been a journey full of incredible interaction with various members of the community who have donated or sponsored the event, and fellow parents and teachers who have tirelessly assisted with the planning and work required to make this night a fundraising success. A big thank you to the teachers and OFE staff, especially Dr. April Williams, Ms. Rachel Folse and Ms. Patricia Shepherd for their attendance and support in making this evening a success. Your assistance with preparations, countless emails and meetings, collection of items and rallying support have been astounding! Every time a new idea was presented to Dr. Williams she graciously said YES! Your eagerness to make this a wonderful event did not go unnoticed. We are so honored to have your support for our kids. We also want to thank our spouses, children and other family members. We love you very much! The planning and work involved in making this event a success required the assistance of many. The tremendous volunteers for this event not only shared their ideas but also their time, and in many instances, their money! We know it's not easy to attend multiple meetings a month and respond to tons of emails and countless text messages, but all of you stepped up to the task with class, enthusiasm and grit! You collected items, you organized projects and social parties for attendees to bid on, you asked for donations, both in-kind and monetary, and as a result have touched our hearts more than you will ever know. Thank you! Needless to say everyone made tonight a reality, especially those who are here tonight and will spend their hard-earned money knowing it will go directly to benefit OFE student enrichment, classroom enhancements and new computer equipment. As your co-chairs we feel blessed to be surrounded by so many who share the common goal of making OFE the best it can be! Thank you for allowing us the honor of serving as the 2016 OFE Auction co-chairs. This is one of our most important fundraisers of the year because your generosity allows the PTA to assist the school with those “big ticket items” that benefit all of our kids. At the most recent OFE PTA Association meeting the Association voted to spend the proceeds from the 2016 Auction in the following areas: Writers in the Schools (WITS), 4th and 5th grade playground equipment, technology upgrades, leadership development and environmental education. These focus areas were guided by the results of a 2015 parent survey and a series of 2016 meetings with, and surveys of, students, teachers and parents. There are many exciting items to bid on, and we are grateful to have you here to enjoy this event with our OFE community. It takes a village to bring all of this together, and so thank you to our amazing Auction Committee and the countless volunteers who have lent their time and talents to this fundraiser. A huge thank you also goes out to the sponsors and those who donated items to make this night a success. We appreciate your generous support of Oak Forest Elementary! Marchese’s Kitchen 14 Auction Rules and Procedures The patented AuctionSilent Auction Rules Star® system will be used • You make a bid by affixing a Bid to manage the Silent Label on a bid sheet located next Auction bidding and into a Silent Auction item. The price appearing next to your Bid Label voicing. • The Silent Auction will be held between 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. • There will also be a Live Auction, starting at 8:15 p.m. • Checkout will begin at approximately 10 p.m. Check-in Procedures • Pre-registered guests must check in at arrival and obtain their personalized bid packet with a set of small Bid Labels (adhesive stickers) bearing the bidder’s name and bidder number and an Auction Catalog listing the auction items available for bidding. • Unregistered guests must check in at arrival to obtain a personal bidder number and an anonymous bid packet (above). • Couples will in general be assigned a joint bidder number and receive a single bid packet. • A bidder’s assigned bidder number is unique, serving as identification throughout the auction proceedings. • NOTE: Bid Labels represent money! DON’T LOSE YOURS! • At check-in time, each bidder will have his or her credit card swiped at an AuctionStar® computer, thereby earning EXPRESS checkout treatment—a signature and you will be on your way! constitutes the price you are committing to pay for the item in case no higher bid is made at a later time. You may increase by more than the next pre-printed amount. • Preprinted prices must not be modified, crossed out or otherwise altered. All bid sheets will be machine read—any handwriting will go unnoticed or be ignored. • Affixing a Bid Label is equivalent to signing a contract: All sales are final, and items are sold “As Is.” There will be no refunds or exchanges. • There is NO UPPER LIMIT for your bids! If the bid sheet is full, another one will soon be printed with higher bid options. If time is short, staggering bid labels on the final slot on a sheet is legal; each new bid label represents an increase of the fixed raise amount. • For fixed-price “Sign-up” items each bid label affixed constitutes a contract to buy one unit of the item at the price printed in the bid slot. Bids placed below the preprinted boxes will be recorded onto a waitlist. • Bidding is legal as long as a bid sheet remains on the table and/or next to an item, even if the closing has been announced! • The highest bid present at the time of a bid sheet’s removal shall constitute the winning bid. Checkout Procedures and Considerations • Before standing in line, consult the posted Winner List to see if you are a winner. • Item and certificate pickup instructions will be given when the invoice is obtained. • Your invoice will normally itemize item descriptions, prices paid, fair market value assessments, plus a copy of IRS guidelines for tax deduction. It is your responsibility to properly handle all tax deduction issues. Consult your tax advisor if no fair market value is shown. • Someone buying an auction item may incur a tax liability for either the whole purchase amount or a part thereof. Such local sales tax, if any, will be added to the invoice. • The buyer waives any claims for liabilities against either Oak Forest Elementary School or the donor of the respective item or service, neither of which is responsible for any personal injury or damage to property that may result from the use of the item or service sold. • Items not picked up after the close of the auction will be available at SPJST from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on March 5, 2016 or at school on Monday. Items not picked up by Friday, March 11 are no longer available. Your money will not be returned. • In the event of a dispute, an auction official shall act as the final authority and determine the final winner and price of the item in dispute. HEADS or TAILS Join the excitement for a chance to win an amazing prize! It’s time to have some fun and raise money for Oak Forest Elementary. $25 per person is all it takes to join the excitement and a chance to win $500 in cash. How is the game played? Step 1: Visit the HEADS OR TAILS table to purchase your bracelet or purchase at check-in. Step 2: When the game is announced, HEADS OR TAILS, stand up and please proceed to the dance floor to play the game. Step 3: MC Shorty Yeaman will ask the big question, “HEADS OR TAILS”? You pick your fate...place your hands on your HEAD or your hands on your TAIL. Shorty will then flip a coin. If you choose correctly, you stay in the game and on the dance floor. If you choose incorrectly: Sorry, you are out of the game; please take your seat. The game will continue with each coin toss, until we are down to one lucky winner who will walk away with $500. 15 Sponsor: Live Auction 1 Galveston Getaway Donated By: Michael & Melissa Santiago Escape to the island for a 4 night weekend stay with friends and family.
