London Sustainability Exchange Project Apprentice Job Title: Project Apprentice Name of Organisation: London Sustainability Exchange Location: 84 Long Lane, London SE1 4AU Responsible to: Project Coordinator Contract: The contract is for fixed period of 1 year, after which time it will be reviewed and the opportunity for the applicant to move to a project officer role. This is a part time post: four days per week. Days worked are to be negotiated with the Project Coordinator. Salary: £19,012 pro rata to 4 days per week Notice Period: The period of notice is one month in writing on each side. There is a probationary period of three months. JOB SUMMARY: The post holder will primarily provide support to the LSx suite of projects which are varied and cover a range of environment and health topics; such as climate change, energy efficiency, air quality, waste prevention, water conservation, open spaces, and community regeneration. The role involves working with the Project Coordinator and his/her team to contribute to the successful development and delivery of key project activities. DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE: Key elements of the role will include:  Administration and operations: Organise internal meetings and events, office reception duties when required; member of the Operations team which ensures smooth operation of office processes; update our contact management database ‘maximizer’, design and produce documents (articles, reports, memos, agendas, briefs, presentations); providing ad hoc admin support.  Systems and Procedures: Working with the Project Coordinator and the Administrator to develop and refine robust and sustainable systems and procedures to ensure efficient and effective running of the operations and projects.  Researching, compiling and maintaining information on a range of relevant issues, and ensuring our internal and external resources (including web based resources and financial records) are effective and up to date. General team support as required.  Communications: Maintaining contacts database, and preparing and sending out communications which includes e-bulletins, invitations to events and ad-hoc signposting. Updating the LSx and project websites and updating printed project material.  Events and meetings: Assisting with the extensive events series including research, planning, organising, delivery, facilitation and evaluation. Preparing agendas, convening and minuting project advisory group and other meetings, for audiences large and small.  Front line delivery: Assisting with delivery of LSx projects. Supporting the development and delivery of a variety of project activities and initiatives with local partners and community members as required.  Reporting to and updating the management team on progress of funding applications, bids, and projects in progress  Second tier support: Supporting the development and delivery of a variety of activities with stakeholders to effectively engage and empower various ‘Learner Network’ members to help promote the take up of healthier behaviours and improve the health and wellbeing of culturally diverse and/or deprived communities.  Monitoring and evaluation: Co-ordinating monitoring and evaluation activities to help track and demonstrate progress against the LSx Performance Targets. Reporting to project funders and others to demonstrate progress against our targets as required. The post also involves pro-active contribution to the LSx team and other LSx work programmes. C. RESPONSIBILITIES: Areas of Responsibilities Outcomes Assisting LSx Team members to deliver activities to support our local delivery partners and community volunteers/Champions, and supervise interns Support delivery of transformative rather than transient change for sustainable behaviours amongst culturally diverse communities in the capital Supporting LSx Team members to deliver activities to support front line social marketing activity delivery in our target communities Support delivery of transformative rather than transient change for sustainable behaviours amongst culturally diverse communities in the capital Working closely other LSx Team members to deliver activities to support our second tier services for stakeholders such as those in our ‘Learning Networks’; including a comprehensive events programme, online resources, email discussion list, ad-hoc signposting, knowledge sharing activities and email bulletins Achieve increase in relevant new knowledge for London professionals and organisations about how to most effectively encourage and enable pro-environmental behaviour and improved health and wellbeing Assist with research, and prepare written material which demonstrates a range of top tips, tools and techniques to encourage and enable pro-environmental and pro-health behaviours and knowledge sharing for more sustainable communities Production of resources that successfully inform project development and support LSx network members, and organisations and individuals Assist with preparing Claims and producing monitoring and evaluation reports, summarising progress against LSx and funder performance targets. The post holder is also responsible for gathering similar information from our local partners. To quantify behaviour change outcomes from projects, and pioneer more effective ways of capturing these Assist with delivery of our comprehensive events programme, including researching relevant resources and preparing training packs, and promotional materials, for inclusion in delegate packs, as well as helping to coordinate event logistics and administer proceedings on the day Achieve increase in relevant new knowledge, for London professionals, organisations and individuals, about how to motivate sustainable behaviour Administration and operations duties Supporting the wider LSx work programme, and supporting the LSx team as required. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Essential:  Resident in the UK, and have been resident for the past three years, and entitled to work permanently in the UK  A systematic, meticulous and quick worker, able to prioritise a varied workload and work to a high standard under pressure  Task oriented and able to deliver to deadlines and within budget  Confident, positive, warm and flexible approach to dealing with a wide range of people  Self motivated and a self-starter  The capacity to be self-supporting using electronic communication and information systems  Able to deliver meetings and events for audiences large and small  An awareness of, and commitment to, sustainable development and the mission of LSx  A good team worker, self-motivated, able to use own initiative and with the ability to work unsupervised  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and numeracy skills  Skilled in the use of Word, Excel and similar office software  A minimum of 5 GSCE passes, including Maths and English Desirable:  Educated to AS or A level standard  Previous experience in a busy office environment  Experience of writing for the web, or editing web based content  Knowledge of Social Media  Strong interest in, and / or experience of working on, energy conservation, climate change, or sustainability projects 4
