Suite F Raleigh, NC 27606 919-859-1786 www.dcommand.com PROJECTOR: QUICK START GUIDE HDMI CONNECTION Equipment needed: • Projector w/ HDMI input ◦ Power Cord for Projector ◦ HDMI cable • Computer/Laptop with HDMI port out • Available Electricity/Power Outlet (x2) Quick Tip: Do not turn on either the projector nor your laptop until both are connected via the VGA cable. By doing this, most laptops will acknowledge an outside display source is connected to it during boot up and will detect and send the signal automatically to the projector. IF IT DOES NOT, please refer to the following to send the laptop display signal to the projector: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Plug Projector into power source Connect Projector and Laptop with HDMI Cable Turn Projector and Laptop on If necessary, use the below steps to send the signal to the projector NOTE!!! Your computer settings may need to be changed for the HDMI cable to carry the audio to the projector. Use the Control Panel and Sound settings to control how your computer sends the sound to outside sources. 521 Uwharrie Ct. Suite F Raleigh, NC 27606 919-859-1786 www.dcommand.com WINDOWS: • OPTION 1: Press and hold the WINDOWS key and the letter “P” Key simultaneously. You should be provided these options: CHOOSE THE DESIRED OPTION (LIKE “DUPLICATE”) • OPTION 2: Use the Function Key “FN” with the corresponding F key at the top of the keyboard to extend the source to the projector (This widely depends on your own personal computer model). Here are some common laptop models and keys: 521 Uwharrie Ct. Suite F Raleigh, NC 27606 919-859-1786 www.dcommand.com APPLE/MAC: For all Apple Machines: Identify the type of port you have available on your machine (Thunderbolt/MiniDisplayPort, Lighting, Full size HDMI, DVI). Be sure that you have the necessary adapter or cable to run from your machine to the provided projector. IMPORTANT NOTE: Most commercial projectors have a VGA and/or DVI inputs. Not all have HDMI inputs unless specifically mentioned as a High Definition (HD) projector. Most projectors DO NOT HAVE Thunderbolt/MiniDisplayPorts nor Lighting ports as these are Apple specific technology! YOU WILL NEED AN ADAPTER UNLESS YOU HAVE A FULL SIZE HDMI PORT ON YOUR MACHINE. • MacBook Pro: STEP 1: TURN BOTH THE PROJECTOR AND YOUR LAPTOP OFF STEP 2: Connect the projector and laptop with the adapter and/or cable via the available ports on either unit. STEP 3: Turn the projector on. STEP 4: Turn the laptop on. If the laptop does not automatically detect the projector as a display source, follow these steps: System Preferences > Displays and click the button for "Detect Displays" 521 Uwharrie Ct. Suite F Raleigh, NC 27606 919-859-1786 www.dcommand.com ADDITIONAL TIPS: Sometimes the projector and machine don't like to communicate if they have different native resolution. Reset the Resolution 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Start up in Safe Mode (Power + Shift on startup) Apple Menu => System Preferences Choose Displays from the Views menu. Select another resolution and refresh rate. Restart. Apple/Mac laptops sometimes require you reset the Reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC: *Note: DCOMMAND does not recommend these steps and can not be held liable for your machine if you choose to perform the following steps. Please proceed with caution. We have only provided this information to attempt to help you. Reset the NVRAM (non-volatile random-access memory) 1. Shut down your Mac. 2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. 3. Turn on your Mac. 4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound. 5. Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time. 6. Release the keys. After resetting NVRAM, you may need to reconfigure settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information. Reset the SMC (System Mangement Controller) You should only do an SMC reset after you've tried all other standard troubleshooting. Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to see if the issue still occurs. 1. Press Command-Option-Escape to force quit any application that is not responding. 2. Put your Mac to sleep by clicking the Apple () menu and choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep. 3. Restart your Mac by choosing Restart from the Apple menu. 4. Shut down your Mac by choosing Shut Down from the Apple menu. 5. If your Mac isn't responding, force the computer to shut down by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. Note that you'll lose any unsaved work in any open applications. If you're using a Mac notebook and it's having issues related to power or the battery: 1. Unplug the power adapter from your Mac and from the wall power socket for several seconds. 2. Shutdown your Mac. 3. Physically remove and re-insert the battery (if it's removable) 4. Restart your computer.
