Protect the private sphere and maintain a clear view of the situation. IPS VideoManager Analysis Module IPS Privacy Protection Video monitoring for the observation and recording of video sequences is subject to numerous data protection regulations. According to the particular legal situation of the different federal states, the owners and users of video monitoring systems operate – partly without being aware – in legal grey areas, as not every person or area may be monitored by cameras. The solution for this is provided by the Module IPS Privacy Protection, which makes freely-definable areas unrecognisable. In addition, faces and moving objects (for instance vehicles) are filtered out of the video images and are also rendered unrecognisable. All three application scenarios can be used separately or in the required combination. The masking can be switched off by a time control, for example overnight. The performance of other analysis modules is not impaired by the installation of IPS Privacy Protection. Movements are
reliably detected, persons or objects are followed (tracking), and images are stored. The software functions together with all cameras and video servers supported by IPS VideoManager.

Video monitoring is now legally compliant Users profit from IPS Privacy Protection particularly for two scenarios: 1. Video monitoring is frequently used by the company or other organisations to secure the outer boundaries. Cameras may then not recognisably display public areas, persons or recognition marks. 2. On private property the observation of all areas and, above all, storing camera images at will or without restriction is not permitted. Over and again, video monitoring is on the verge of infringing workers‘ codetermination. Here also, IPS Privacy Protection allows one to render critical details unrecognisable, complying with data protection regulations.

IPS Privacy Protection for existing analogue equipment The software module works with all camera types and video servers that are supported by IPS VideoManager. It can thus be used for existing analogue systems. Moreover, it also supports the commonly available compression processes (MJPEG, MPEG4, H.264). Decoding of capture areas and live images With the aid of the principle of dual control, blurred recording passages can be decrypted with two passwords. This is true for both live images and recorded passages. IPS Privacy Protection offers special features:
IPS Privacy Protection: Objects and defined areas are masked.
• Privacy zones: Predefined areas, such as windows or the facades of buildings, are always completely blurred. • Detection zones: The system detects activities only in these freely definable areas. Movements in the remaining image areas are ignored. • Face zones: The concealing of faces is taken into consideration for certain areas in the camera’s field of view. • 3D perspective: For the recognition of moving objects, the perspective-related change in size is calculated. • Activity capture: With appropriate settings the video acquisition can continue over a defined time, even when the „activity“ event is no longer present. • Sensitivity threshold: Only when a certain threshold value has been reached are movements of objects signalled. This prevents unwanted blurring of image passages with movement-like changes (such as shadows).
IPS Privacy Protection: Video surveillance ends at the property line.
