pulsar The Pulsar fibre optic anti-theft system is Axint Solutions’ way to secure solar farms and power distribution systems from theft and malicious actions. This technology relies on the detection and analysis of light pulses travelling through fibre optic cables. The system is composed by a central interrogation unit connected to a glass fibre optic cable running throughout the solar farm or the power cable route. The device, powered by 12-24 VDC, can be easily installed on DIN rails within existing or specifically provided cabinets or enclosures. Multicolour LEDs provide visual information on system status as well as on the fibre optic cable integrity. Alarms can be generated through relay contacts (C, NO, NC), thus making Pulsar compatible with every centralised control and alarming system. Pulsar is a cost-effective and efficient alarm system for solar farms and power cables, easy to install, highly safe and impossible to bypass.

Solar Panels Anti-Theft Systems: Once the Pulsar system has been properly installed and secured to the solar panels, bending, pulling or breaking the fibre optic cable in the attempt of removing the panels from their position will result in the immediate generation of alarms and notifications concerning that specific array, therefore allowing prompt and targeted intervention, resulting in a much better protection of the asset and a drastic reduction of downtime as well as replacement costs. Power Cables Anti-Theft Systems: Many anti-theft systems available on the market generate an alarm only when the power cable is already cut or damaged, avoiding the cable from being stolen but still resulting in service interruption. With Pulsar anti-theft system, as soon as thieves approach the power cables, bending, pulling or cutting the fibre optic cable will immediately generate alarms and notifications to the operator, thus avoiding the power cables from being cut in the first place and the service from being interrupted. The same fibre optic cable can also be used to secure cabinets along the cable route as well as any other location, which could be targeted by malicious and criminal actions. aluminium frame

PV panel fibre optic cable installation on photovoltaic panels
Working Principle A small but robust fibre optic cable is laid along the cable route or the PV-panels array, properly secured to one or more cables or panels. The cable is then connected to our interrogation unit which performs a continuous analysis on it. The fibre optic cable is not affected by electromagnetic interferences, it doesn’t age and it can be protected against rodents, thus providing a maintenance-free, cost-effective and efficient anti-theft system. The interrogation unit is self-calibrating; once the cable is installed and the system is activated, the device will be able to detect cut, bending or pulling on the cable, immediately generating an alarm through the relay contact. Each device can monitor up to 1km of fibre optic cable, thus enabling the protection of large assets. Installation Methodology The fibre optic cable installation has to be performed carefully and accurately, so to prevent cable’s detachment. The cable has to be put in place avoiding 90° angles or crushing (excessive pressure points). Installation can be realised on every kind of solar panel. For every cable loop it is possible to perform up to 4 junctions in order to ease system’s installation, repairs and maintenance. Junctions can be made on-site through connectors or fusions splicing.
