catalogue 2006 2 FIND OUT QUBE... Satisfying the demands of people who make a living making music, responding to the specific, often unique demands of live performers with competitive prices: this is not just a dream. It is the philosophy behind QUBE, a range of speaker systems, power amplifiers and processor modules. The result is a comprehensive, expandable and fully reliable PA system with incredible sound quality and a versatility that makes it ideal for permanent installation as well as road use. The Qube project — dedicated to professionals who won’t settle for second best. Sound Quality QUBE series speakers are the optimum solution for live performances, whether in small and intimate venues, or in big open air arenas where thousands of watts are needed. The series offers high quality and high fidelity sound reproduction thanks to components specifically designed for the QUBE system. So you can perform well and be heard well, relying on top quality sound reproduction even at high power, show after show, night after night. Comprehensive Product Range Those who use products from the QUBE range are not simply the owners of a pair of speakers or a power amplifier. Those who choose QUBE embrace the philosophy of a system designed to adapt to a wide range of requirements, from the perfect pair of speakers for the piano-bar performer or the consultant with the task of installing a PA system in a public building, to mega systems created for concert musicians performing at high volume for thousands of fans. The goal of offering a comprehensive product range is reached thanks to the complete series of passive and powered speakers with a built-in digital controller; an external digital controller is designed to enhance the performance of the passive speakers, to allow the expansion of systems with subwoofers, and to enable configuration in accordance with individual requirements. UpGrade Options The modularity and flexibility of the QUBE range enables users to continually expand their systems at a minimum cost, “navigating” through the configuration options as they please… options which are all obtainable simply by integrating their existing systems. Start with a pair of speakers, and later as needs change, it is a simple matter to increase the power of the system by adding a final stage and another pair of speakers; alternatively, the addition of a pair of subwoofers with a final stage provides a truly comprehensive system in terms of frequency response. Reliability Those who claim to offer a professional PA system must guarantee the reliability of their components. The Qube engineers have made no compromises on this front. The inclusion of protective circuitry on the crossover filter limits excess power supplied to the driver, preventing any damaging “Larsen” effects. For those who want an additional level of protection, the controller limits power when the woofer runs the risk of overheating or when movement of the cone is so great as to alter or even damage its mechanical characteristics. The same attention to detail has been given to amplifiers, with protection circuits to preventing direct current, overheating and accidental short-circuiting at the output. Optimisation For those not content even with the matchless specifications of QUBE speakers, the digital controller further enhance performance, optimising sound, reliability and flexibility. Indeed the processor has been designed to allow active optimisation of the already impressive frequency response through “ad hoc” equalisation of each indi- vidual speaker, to optimise reliability by protecting woofers in the same way as drivers, and to process audio signals by separating the part of the signal directed to the full-range speakers from that directed to the subwoofers. By an internal switch all the fullrange passive speakers can be split into active ways. High Dynamic Device. Used on the powered Qube amplifier, the HDD is an integrated system, comprising a digital processor and two high efficiency amplifier. The system, very compact and light, trough a sophisticated equalization and a energy control produce a clean sound with high dynamic in a safe way. The key features are: Time domain equalization to produce the best frequency and phase response; Built-in crossover is designed for the minimum driver interference and the best polar response; Excursion control to avoid the woofer exceed allowed displacement; Energy control to keep the driver operating in a safe working area; High efficiency, high peak power PWM amplifier for the LW woofer; High efficiency class G amplifier for the HW compression driver; Remote control possibility trough a computer, via a dedicated program software and a computer, allowing the preset can be locked into memory to meet the challenging acoustics of any venue. Curve preset and fine adjustment through equalization 4 par. Eq. and delay control (manual mode with DIP switch). Monitoring of the system status (speakers check, volume control, input sensitivity selection, output level monitoring overload or equalizer overload, on/off command), monitoring of the input; 8 default presets These presets have been made to give to the speakers the best performances at different applications. All the speakers are eprovided with the following default presets :Floor, Low Extension, HF Compensation, Array. The Q 110A, because of its monitor design, have also a Stage Monitor preset to be insert when it is used as floor monitor. These presets make a frequency response correction: 1. to compensate the bass frequency energy boost 2. to extend the frequency response in the low range to compensate the lack of a subwoofer at moderate SPL level 3. to compensate the high frequency attenuation due to the air in a “ far-field” situation. 4. to assemble two speakers in array configuration increasing the SPL and the coverage. On/Off sub connection · · · · · · · · · The powered speakers is the latest addition to complete the Qube line; by the use of HHD module ( Class D "PWM" amplifier; incorporated digital DSP; Control Remote System Supervision), the speakers are tailored for a wide range of touring and installed sound reinforcement applications. The full range speakers can be switched into two way bi amp by moving a selector located on the back plate. 3 SPEAKERS Q 106 Small enough almost to go unnoticed, the Q106 nonetheless has the audio presence of a true giant. 2 x Q 106 combined with a power amplifier PA 140, 1 x digital controller SP 22D and 1 x subwoofer QS 112 is a compact PA system featuring as main characteristics a very pure sound quality, deep powerful bass and, above all, it is a very “easy to handle” system. With its limited size and weight, and a sound impact (120 dB SPL) comparable to that of “bigger” systems in the series, the Q106 offers the ideal amplified sound solution when the requirement is for presence and compact dimensions. The Q106, with a frequency response of 65 Hz - 18 kHz, uses an 6,5” woofer (1,5” coil) with a 1” driver (1,4” coil) and a rotatable horn with 70°H x 50°V coverage. The Q 106 multi shape cabinet with 30° and 45° angles is ideal as small monitor for professional musicians. Easy arrayable, thanks to the dedicated hardware, the speaker is perfect in fixed installations for pubs, conference halls, waiting rooms… blending effortlessly with the surroundings thanks to their carefully crafted professional look. The speakers are made using 12 mm. Baltic birch wood, finish in a durable and scrach resistant paint. Q 106A Same features of Q 106 with a built-in class G amplifier of 150 W for the low section and 50 W for the high section. Yet despite its small size, it lacks nothing in power. The exclusive slimline shape gives astonishing results from such a small enclosure, putting it in the same performance league as systems with dimensions and costs 2 or even 3 times as much. The WTW configuration comprising a high frequency 1” driver and horn positioned between two 8” woofers gives a sound comparable to that from a single source, benefiting from the presence and definition typical of coaxial systems. The result is an extremely flat frequency response, without colouring between 65Hz and 18 kHz. Covering a horizontal angle of 80°, the QUBE Q 208 is the ideal choice both for permanent installations, for example in pubs and conference halls, and as portable equipment for professional musicians. On stage, QUBE Q208 cabinet can also be used as monitors. Two 10” neodymium loudspeakers, two 1” neodymium drivers handle a power of 500 watts. Easy to use, the new Qube Line Array is made, as well as all Qube products, in cooperation with Renkus-Heinz R&D team. The system is based on a totally new radical technology: the Isophasic Plane Wave Generator. By the use of a true acoustical lens in the hornsection loaded by two 1" high-compression neodymium drivers, the result is a line shaped source evenly distributed within the cabinet as well as within the line array. It allows high power and precise line array performance to be generated from a column of biamped (minimum 6 speakers)cabinets just 60 cm wide making it perfect for medium-sized tours and installations in venues such as theatres. The Qube series is fully compatible, electronically and acoustically, with the QSA-210, which can be used to partner it with sidefills, downfills and sub-bass cabinets. The cabinet is designed for extremely quick set-up and the included twopoint flying hardware admits two different settings (0° and 5°) for straight line array as well as curved clustering. The express-bar is designed to enable firm fly mount as well as ground-stacking. The SP 26 is a digital signal processing controller programmed to optimise the performances of the total system.
