Welcome Congratulations on your purchase of this Xperia™ Tablet S. This “Quick Setup Guide” explains the initial settings required to use your tablet. Connecting to the Internet allows you to enjoy all of the features your tablet has to offer. The available services vary depending on the countries and regions.

Inserting a SIM Card Insert a SIM card (not supplied) to use the mobile communications function. Xperia™ Tablet S supports mini-SIM cards (2FF). Using a card other than a mini-SIM card (2FF) or one with an adapter may damage the SIM card slot.
1 When the tablet is turned

paper clip (not supplied) into the SIM card eject hole . Eject the SIM tray . Hint A label is attached to the SIM tray. Pull the label to pull out the SIM tray.
place a SIM card on the SIM tray so that the cutout of the SIM card fits that of the SIM tray. Note Make sure there are no protrusions on the cutting surface of the SIM card.
4 Insert the SIM tray and close the SD memory card slot cover.
Notes Insert the SIM tray correctly into the SIM card slot (A, lower slot). Make sure not to insert the SIM tray into the SD memory card slot (B, upper slot). Make sure not to insert the SIM tray in the reverse direction. Make sure the cover closes securely (p. 11).
Turning On Press and hold the power button for about three seconds until the screen turns on.

Charging the battery Remove the Multi Port cover , then connect the tablet, USB Cable For Multi Port , AC adapter , AC power cord (mains lead) and AC outlet (wall socket) . Note
The Multi Port cover is essential for the splash-proof construction (p. 11). Keep the lid carefully.
Touch Screen
Tap Selects an icon or option.
Flick Performs operations such as scrolling.
If the screen goes into Sleep mode Press the power button.
To unlock the screen Tap then tap .
Initial Settings Set up your Xperia™ Tablet S
To use your tablet, you might need to set the following: Country or region Language Wi-Fi Date & time, time zone Account
Select an item by directly touching the screen.
If this screen was displayed, select the country or region you use your tablet.
Select your language, and tap [Next ]. Follow the on-screen instructions. If your desired language is not displayed, scroll down until you see the language.

Select an internet connection.
Select the desired option, then tap [Next ].

Select an available Wi-Fi network.
Tap [Connect to a Wi-Fi network] then [Next ].
Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to. Hint If you cannot connect to any Wi-Fi network, tap then follow the on-screen instructions to check the connection status. To finish the operation, tap at the bottom left.
If you do not know which Wi-Fi network to connect to Wi-Fi network IDs are indicated as SSID, ESSID, Access Point, etc.

Input the password with the on-screen keyboard, then tap [Connect].
Set date & time.
If the date and time are correct, tap [Next ]. To adjust the settings, tap [Adjust].
Tap this button to input capital letters. To switch the input language, tap this button. To turn off the keyboard, tap
at the bottom left.

Use Google location.
Select the desired option, then tap [Next ]

Set up an account.
Tap [Google]. Follow the on-screen instructions. You are required to sign up for a Google account to use services provided by Google, such as mail, and to download Google service apps.
To enable mobile communications
The initial setup is complete. Enjoy various content your tablet has to offer.
Tap [Apps & Widgets], then [Settings], [More…] , [Mobile networks] and [Data enabled]. A check mark is put in the box for that setting.
Entertainment Connecting the tablet to the Internet allows you to enjoy various entertainment. Tap the Apps you are interested in on the Home screen.
Video Unlimited Sony’s “Video Unlimited” video distribution service. Enjoy the latest Hollywood blockbusters, classics and TV shows on your tablet.

Reader by Sony* Sony’s “Reader™ Store” eBook store allows you to download books anytime from its vast lineup. * This service may not be available in some countries/regions.
Socialife The timeline of the SNS you use such as Twitter and Facebook is shown on a single screen. Thumbnails of attached photos and links appear by the comments.
Troubleshooting To update your tablet
If tablet gets wet
System updates Updating the system’s software will add new features or improve some existing features. Tap [Apps & Widgets], then [Settings], [About tablet] and [System updates].
Splash-proof construction If your tablet is exposed to a light splash of water, gently wipe it dry. The splash-proof construction is disabled when the covers of the Multi Port and SD memory card slot are not attached properly.
To close the SD memory card slot cover
Insert part A in the direction by the arrow as shown in the above illustration. Close the SD memory card slot cover. Make sure the cover closes securely with no gaps.
