How to… open to modify an existing message? ................................................. 18 QUG_E_V1.01_07 Page 2 of 18 Safety • Read the relevant Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) before storing, handling, transporting or using the ink cartridges. • Ensure the power switch on the underside of the printer is OFF before connecting the power cord to the printer or to the power source. • Protect the printer electronics from electrical surges or low voltage conditions by using a UPS. • Disconnect the power before opening the printer cabinet. • Disconnect the power before making any wiring connections. • To maintain the environmental rating of the cabinet, route external wiring cables through the cable glands and strain relief provided on the underside of the cabinet. • Ensure all cables are secured away from moving production line components • Switch OFF or disconnect the power before inserting or a Compact Flash memory card. • Switch OFF or disconnect the power before connecting or disconnecting a printhead. • Disconnect the power before changing the memory backup battery. • Switch OFF the print group before removing and/or installing a print cartridge. • Use only lint free wipes when cleaning the cartridge nozzles. • Clean cartridge nozzles according to the recommendations enclosed • Protect the printheads from impact with proper adjustment and alignment of side rails and product guides. • Recycle empty ink cartridges responsibly. APS provides a recycling service. • Do not open any enclosed components of the printer or printheads. They contain no user serviceable parts. Each of them can contain fixed text, date, shift code, barcodes, counter, variable text… Field name: o • A group is an assembling of heads. There can be 1 to 4 heads in a group. For printing, a group is linked to a message (including parameters: resolution, margin/offset, print area, alignment, print direction and print speed), to a start signal and to speed (fixed or measures by a shaft encoder). Each group has to be set up during the installation of the machine. When a field is created, it has to be named to be stored in the printer memory, Field entry or data entry: o This is the data enter into the field and which has to be printed. How to… set up message parameters? • • Before creating a message set up the message parameters: o Resolution (in dpi, horizontal and vertical), o Maximum height of the print area (depends on the number of printheads - 1, 2, 3 or 4 heads -each head prints a maximum 12.7mm in height, o Maximum width of the print area, o Message orientation (horizontal and vertical), o Print margins (forward and end), o Space between fields, o Number of prints per object and distance between prints: used mainly for continuous printing, o Print start mode: using an external device (photocell) or not, o Print speed mode: using an external device (encoder) or not, o Speed modification: adjusts the print width according to production line speed. o By choosing ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ in the squares on the right-hand side of the screen, chosen values become the ‘default value’ (choose ‘Yes’) or not (choose ‘No’). When creating new messages the ‘default’ value will be used.
