Mounting Take the Uni-Roller and the accessories out of the packaging. Unfold the Uni-Roller until you hear a loud click on both sides of the frame. Then the folding links have been locked and the push buttons stick out of the frame. Wrong, the square has not been locked Right, the square has been locked Folding To fold the Uni-Roller please stand right in front of the stroller and press the folding push buttons on the right and left sides simultaneously. Please release the clamp of the back of the seat, if it is adjustable. The upper part of the Uni-Roller tilts to the back. Please keep the push buttons pressed and then fold the lower part of the front frame. You can fold the Uni-Roller smaller by removing the rear wheels from the frame as well as the front jogger set wheel from the jogger set frame. The buggy wheels may remain in the buggy set frame; they would not reduce the size. To avoid the Uni-Roller unfolding during transportation put the adjustable handle bar in the last step – to the lowest position. The adjustable handle bar should be adjusted in such a way that it clamps the lower part of the frame of the Uni-Roller. Attention: While keeping the folding push buttons pressed, take care not to bruise your fingers between the frame parts during the folding. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 4 Note: The first folding might be a little bit stiff, because the screws and connections have to settle. Adjust the angle of the handle bar according to your body height by loosing the screws on the handle and adjusting the handle into the right position. Now tighten the screws again. While tightening the screws, please attend that the sprockets are meshing tight and the angle has no space to move anymore, before using the UniRoller again. 2.2. Mounting the rear wheel Put the delivered quick release axles into the hubs of the rear wheel by pressing the black push button of the axle. As soon as the axle has been completely placed in the hub, you can release the push button again. (Figures 1 and 2 on the next page) Hold the rear wheel at the spokes whilst pressing the black push button. Now push the axle into the wheel axle adapter on the frame of your Uni-Roller. As soon as the quick release axle comes out of the other side of the wheel axle adapter and when you can see the safety ball, you can release the black push button. Note: Be sure that the rear wheels are fixed on the frame by pulling them back and forth. Figure 1 Figure 2 Note: Make sure that the tires are always filled with enough air: min. 35, max 65 P.S.I. or 2.8 to 4.5 bar. The necessary tire pressure has been printed on the tires. There should be the same tire pressure on both sides to ensure a straight alignment. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 5 2.3. Mounting the seat Sling Seat Remove the packaging from the seat. Open the Velcro fasteners on the right and left sides and put the sling seat around the upper main frame and close the Velcro fasteners again. Start to close the upper clip of the seat. The upper harness has to be above the upper cross bar. Afterwards you close both safety devices with the Velcro fastener. Then close both of the lower, small clips at the back. Lay the Uni-Roller on its handlebars and rear wheels so that you can reach well the two clips at the footrest and close them too. Note: Check again, if the sling seat is fixed well and if all clips are tightened up and harnesses that stick out are secured. Seat Insert for small people Lay the seat insert into the mounted seat and pull the back safety harnesses or positioning systems through the corresponding openings. Back adjustable seat frame Remove the packaging from the single parts for the seat frame and check the content for completeness: Packaging content: 1 U-frame with adjustable rod and two hexagonal socket fastening screws, 4 washers, 2 safety nuts - back part 2 round struts with welded swage block and two hexagon socket fastening screws, 2 washers – seat 1 fastening clamp 2 clips for the lower part of the seat with 2 M5 hexagonal socket tallow drop screws RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 6 Packaging content Mounting back adjustable seat frame and seat cover: Place the mounted Uni-Roller in front of you and fasten the parking brake. Fasten the U-frame at the fastening plates of the frame in the rear opening (figure 1) and pull the black seat cover over the U-frame (figure 2). Thereby the adjustable rod must be pushed through the middle hole at the upper edge of the seat cover. Tighten the fastening clamp at the upper cross frame tubing (figure 3). Turn off the black ball at the adjustable rod of the U-frame. Push the rod through the hole at the fastening clamp and fix the rod with the fastening toggle. The toggle has to show upwards. Now turn the black ball on the adjustable rod again. It protects the user from injuries. figure 1 fastening plate for seat frame figure 2 seat cover figure 3 adjustable rod, fastening clamp, toggle RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 7 By the help of the fastening clamp and the adjustable rod you can adjust the seat position of the back seat’s adjustable frame (90 to 100 degrees). Note: Make sure that the fastening toggle has been tightened before a person sits in the Uni-Roller. Fix the lower seat bar at the fastening plate to the frame. Remove the buggy set or jogger set from the main frame and push the delivered sliding clips on the frame tubing. Mount the buggy set or jogger set again and fix the lower seat bars at the clips (figures 4 and 5). figure 4 sliding clip figure 5 lower seat bar Now tighten the lower part of the seat cover over the seat bars and close the three lower safety harnesses. Now the Uni-Roller can be used with the adjustable seat frame. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 8 Seat cover for the back adjustable seat frame: Loosen the black ball at the end of the adjustable rod and loosen the fastening clamp. Pull the adjustable rod out of the clamp and pull the fabric cover back seat cover over the back of the seat. Tighten the adjustable rod and the ball in reverse order. Close the clips at the back of the seat and secure the ends of the harnesses in the corresponding rubber loops. Now pull the fabric seat cover over the seat bars and close the clips under the seating. The seat cover should be stretched tight over the seat. Restraint system– safety harnesses - positioning systems After consulting your medical shop, the Uni-Roller can be equipped with the restraint or positioning system as listed under accessories, point 3 2.4. Mounting the footrest Package content: 1 footrest 2 spacers 8 half-round parts 4 long hexagonal socket screws 4 short hexagonal socket screws figure 1 figure 2 Remove the packaging from the footrest and remove the protective film, if necessary. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 9 Mount the footrest in the following order (see figure 2): - long hexagonal socket screw - 1 half-round part - Frame tubing buggy set or jogger set, - 1 half-round part - Spacer - Footrest - Short hexagonal socket screw Please tighten the short hexagonal socket screw only slightly; otherwise the fold ability of the footrest can be obstructed. Note: Please take care that nobody stands on the footrest. It is only meant for resting the feet while the occupant sits in the Uni-Roller. Note: There are two different positions when you mount the buggy set (height or length of the legs); with the jogger set there is only one position. 2.5. Jogger Set Package content: 1 Frame jogger set 1 Front wheel 1 Quick release Loosen the connecting screws between the main frame and the buggy set and remove the buggy set from the frame. Insert the frame of the jogger set into the main frame of the Uni-roller and tighten it by the connecting screws. Please do not tighten the screws too much (max. 10 Nm); otherwise the frame and the jogger set might be squeezed. Put the front wheel on the out coming ends of the jogger set frame and lead the quick release from one side through the out coming end and hollow axle of the front wheel. Screw the quick clamping nut on the other side on the quick tension axle until you feel a slight resistance. Note: Now turn the quick release lever on the other side and check, if the front wheel is well fixed in the jogger set frame. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 10 Note: The quick tension lever must fit closely on the frame of the jogger set and must not point downwards. Otherwise it might be opened by objects on the pavement or branches and the front wheel might come off from the jogger set frame. 2.6. Opening and closing of the quick release Buggy Set – 2 swivel front wheels figure 1 figure 2 Note: From time to time you have to check that the fastening screws of the buggy wheels are tight (figure 2). 2.7. Parking brake The Uni-Roller is usually delivered with a parking brake. The brake linkage will be pressed into the wheel hubs by pressing down the brake pedal (the brake pedal is on the right side in pushing direction). As the brake linkage does not immediately snap into one of the spaces, you have to move the stroller slightly forwards and backwards Note: Make sure that the brake is really locked and the stroller cannot roll away. Only then take your hand off the handlebar. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 11 Brake linkage locked Note: Before getting in and out you must be sure that the foot brake is locked. Thus you will avoid fallings or similar accidents. 2.8. Drum brake set Package content: 2 running wheels with drum brake hub and broad tires Screw set for fastening the brake back plate on the frame 2 quick release axle sets (2 quick release axles and 2 bushings) 1 cable- set with cable distributor 1 brake lever Please lay your Uni-Roller flat on the upper and lower main frame so that the back wheels show upwards. Take off the two rear wheels including the quick release axles out of the frame and lay them aside. Then you loose the bushings by a 24 mm openend wrench and remove them out of the frame completely. Please dismount all parts at the foot brake and lay them aside (even the restoring spring of the foot brake has to be dismounted). Now you can start mounting the drum brake set: Fasten the brake plates on the frame. Use the 5 mm hexagonal socket screw and the aluminum shell from the screw set. Stick the bushing for the new rear wheels through the brake plates and the frame and reverse laterally the fastening screws at the inner sides of the frame. The bushings must not have play. Brake plate and brake pull bar and bushings how to mount the brake cable RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 12 Please fasten the brake cables as shown in the following figure: Layout of cables Mount the brake lever on the handle bar. Adjusting the brakes Pull the brake cable through the stopper and the locking screw: stopper brake cable locking screw at the brake lever Please take care that the back brake outside cable is well inserted in all stops: brake lever, cable distributor and the stopper on the brake plates. Now tighten the brake cable on the brake locking screw and close the locking screw with a 5 mm open end wrench without pushing the brake pull bar upwards. The brake cable should only be gripped tight. Now mount the rear wheels as described in point 2.2. mounting the running wheels. Note: Be sure that the rear wheels are fixed on the frame by pulling them back and forth. Note:. Before you use the Uni-Roller, use the brake several times and check the function of the brake. Note: After being used several times, the brake cable extends and has to be readjusted to guarantee a perfect function. Note: Drum brakes are very effective brakes. Please get used to their RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 13 operation before jogging or skating. Please practice using the brake action. It is your own responsibility to use the Uni-Roller for jogging or skating. We do not assume liability for possible damages to persons or objects. 3. Uni-Roller Bicycle clutch The WEBER hitch was specially made for your Uni-Roller By the integrated tilting lock, you can safely transport your Uni-Roller with your bicycle. By the progressive effect of the supporting force, tilting of the Uni-Roller is very difficult and enables a safe bicycling. You can easily attach the hitch to the Uni-Roller and the bicycle without any tools and only some simple grips. SAFETY If you use your Uni-Roller as a trailer, you have to ensure that it meets the requirements of the Regulations Authorizing the Use of Vehicles for Road Traffic. Adjust the way of driving to the circumstances. Max. load 35 kg – maximum speed 25 km/h – when turning 10 km/h. The driver must be at least 16 years old. Make sure that other persons who use this combination have read these notes. Only drive a technically perfect bicycle (at least DIN 79100) Consider that the braking distance can be longer, above all with wetness and downward gradients. The legal requirements may change during time. Protect your child with a head protection/ helmet. Equip the Uni-Roller with a rear light when attaching it to a bicycle. For mounting the hitch to the Uni-Roller, follow the above shown three steps. While the quick release lever is open (a), press the contact knobs into the front fork drop outs of the Uni-Roller (arrow), get informed. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 14 Swing the attachment tube (b) into the direction of the arrow, so that it encompasses the cross bar (c) of the Uni-Roller's frame. Close the black plastic tension lever (into the direction of the arrow) until the pin of the spring (d) locks audibly and visibly. Check if the connection is tight and that there is no play. Please consider: For security reasons replace one spring button by the attached security screw, as you can see on picture 2. Please pull it tight and check, if it fits tight and has no play. Picture 2 Mounting the hitch arm on the bicycle The parts of the hitch arm that are on the bicycle can stay on the bicycle even if you don’t use the Uni-Roller as a trailer. The hitch coupling parts consist the hitch pick up including the necessary polygon inserts for quick release axle or full axle. Remove the two nuts from the full axle; if there is a quick release axle, the quick release axle has to be removed. Insert the polygon inserts that match your bicycle, so that the lock nose appears to the wheel attachment. There should not be any play for the lock noses. (Figure 4) Put on the coupling frame (e) according to your wheel size (figure 6), so that the pick up roller is positioned at a height of about 33-36 mm. If you have full axles, put on the wheel nuts. If you have quick release axles, insert the quick release axle and tension it to an appropriate tightness. Check the coupling attachments for tightness. The order of the components is shown in figure 5. Make sure that the thread of the quick release axle carries at least 5 mm in the nut. Otherwise you should use an extended quick release axle. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 15 For coupling take both grip parts in your hand, press the spring pins to unlock the protection and turn inside. (Figure 7) Put the shaft on the coupling attachment. (Figure 8) To lock turn the grip parts outside until the spring pins lock audibly and visibly. (Figure 9) 4. Note: Please do not wash the seat covers in a washing machine, wash manually with warm water and a soft detergent and dry the parts on a clothes horse in a well aerated room. Do not use a fabric softener and do not let the fabric parts be cleaned in a chemical washing. Do not put the fabric parts into the dryer. Make sure all covers are well dried before using the Uni-Roller again. Note: If you have to store the Uni-Roller leave it unfolded in a well aerated and dry room and do not expose it to the sun for a long time. If it is wet after the last use, make sure that the stroller dries well to avoid harmful toxic mould and mould stains. Frame and wheels: Please do not use hard abrasive cleaners to clean the frame and the wheels of the Uni-Roller. You can damage the surface. Use a wet soft cloth. Further do not use a pressure washer to clean the frame. Please remove the rear wheels from time to time to check the condition of the quick release axle. The quick release axles should be greased with ball bearing grease. All fastening screws should be checked regularly. Corrosion Please check the frame and all screw and plug connections for corrosion. Due to high humidity, frequent use in bad weather, high salt content in the air and/or a high level of pollutants there may be corrosion on the metal parts of the Uni-Roller. Rusty screws and connections should be changed by your specialist retailer. Note: To protect your Uni-Roller from corrosion, please only store it in dry and well aerated rooms. Please also consider the notes for maintaining the frame and the wheels. RAD-Innovations, David Black Am Ockenheimer Graben 50, 55411 Bingen 18 7.
