Description The Rada Contact deck/basin mounted washbasin tap complies with all relevant directives for CE marking. The tap can be installed on pre-mixed supply or cold only. We recommend the use of a thermostatic under basin mixing valve. This product is designed for high pressure systems. A 6 l/min flow regulator is fitted in the tap aerator. For water supply pressures above 800 kPa (8 bar) install a pressure reducing valve (not supplied).
Important Safety Information Water Regulations: The plumbing installation must comply with the requirements of UK Water Regulations/Bye-laws (Scotland), Building Regulations or any particular regulations and practices as specified by the local water company. DO NOT operate this appliance if it is frozen. Allow the appliance to thaw before using. The tap must not be fitted where it may be exposed to freezing conditions. Installation must be carried out in accordance with these instructions, and must be conducted by designated, qualified and competent personnel. Disinfectants: In applications where system chemical disinfection is practised, chlorine can be used (calculated chlorine concentration of 50 mg/l [ppm] maximum in water, per one hour dwell time), at service interval frequency. Such procedures must be conducted strictly in accordance with the information supplied with the disinfectant and with all relevant Guidelines/Approved Codes of Practice. If in any doubt as to the suitability of chemical solutions, refer to Kohler Mira Limited, or your Local Agent. Batteries: Spent batteries should not be disposed of with normal household waste. Contact your local authority for information on waste disposal and recycling. Always use batteries from a reputable source, poor quality batteries may affect the performance of the product. End of Product Life When this appliance has reached the end of its serviceable life, it should be disposed of in a safe manner, in accordance with current local authority recycling, or waste disposal policy.

INSTALLATION Installation Advice If installing the tap with a recessed basin into a counter top; ensure that the tap base is mounted close enough to the basin to allow the flow to reach the centre. (See dimension information)

Install the battery box so that it can be accessed easily for replacing batteries. A 1/2” isolating valve is needed to connect the solenoid to pipework (see Accessories). Maximum Hole Diameter Ø35 mm

1. Isolate the water supply. 2. Remove the locknut, the bracket and the bracket washer. 3. Leave the ‘O’ ring on the base of the tap.

4. Pass the hose and cables through the basin hole (basin hole 35 mm diameter maximum).

5. Install the bracket washer and the bracket. 6. Using a 12 mm AF socket or an adjustable spanner, secure the locknut. 8

Note! Install the solenoid valve close enough to allow cables to be connected.

1. Connect the hose to the solenoid valve. 2. Install the filter into the 1/2” isolating valve as shown.

Note! The 1/2” isolating valve is not supplied (see Accessories). 3. Tighten the isolating valve. 4. Do not overtighten connections. 5. Turn on the water supply and check for leaks.
Installing the Battery Box The length of the battery box cable is 45cm including the connector. Note! Wall plugs and alternative fixings for some wall structures are not supplied. The battery box can be installed by using the sticky pads on the back of the box or the two fixing screws. 1. Remove the four cover screws and the cover.

2. If using the fixing screws, use the battery box as a template, drill two 3.5mm holes. 3. Install the battery box using the screws supplied. 4. Install six size AA 1.5V Alkaline batteries. 9
5. Install the battery box cover using the four screws supplied.
Connect the Solenoid and Power Supply 1. Connect the power supply and the solenoid valve cables.

Operation Flow Time Adjustment Examples To activate the product simply touch the ON symbol. The time flow is activated and the product will switch off after 8 seconds. The tap flow time is programmable on site. If required the factory programmed default flow time of 8 seconds can be adjusted to a value between 1 to 60 seconds. The tap has three adjustment levels for setting the flow time and a 4th level to activate or deactivate the duty flush. The duty flush must be turned off if a basin plug is provided. An indicator light (LED) on the underside of the sensor cap will guide you when adjusting the flowtime or activating or deactivating the duty flush. The following table and examples shows the number of adjustment steps in each adjustment level and how to recognize the adjusting level you are in. Adjustment Level 1 Levels Increments

The following examples show how to manage the adjustment levels. Piezo Cap
1. Using the hexagon wrench provided remove the grub screw and the piezo cap. 2. Disconnect the power supply. 3. Wait 10 seconds. 4. Reconnect the power supply. 5. The indicator light (LED) on the back of the Piezo cap will start flashing four times.

6. LED will show a steady red light. Touch the Piezo cap once. When the steady red light is ON, you enter flow time adjusting level 1.

7. If you do not press the indicated area, the previous flow time adjustment will remain. 8. In adjustment level 1, each touch will increase the flow time by 1 second up to a maximum of 100 seconds. Wait for a few seconds then the LED flashes twice to indicate adjustment level 2. 9. In adjustment level 2 each touch will increase the flow time by 2 seconds up to a maximum of 500 seconds. Wait for a few seconds then the LED flashes three times to indicate adjustment level 3. 10. In adjustment level 3 each touch will increase the flow time by 15 seconds up to a maximum of 2000 seconds.

Note! Level 4 allows the duty flush to be turned OFF or ON.

12. To turn the duty flush OFF, touch the piezo cap once, the LED will flash twice. Wait for a few seconds then the LED flashes five times. 13. The tap is now adjusted to the required flow time.

14. Refit the piezo cap. 15. Using the hexagon wrench provided refit the grub screw cap. Do not overtighten.

1. Using a 2mm hexagon wrench remove the grub screw and lift off the cap.
The LED under the cap will flash twice if the battery level management system has activated. This indicates that the batteries must be replaced.
If the batteries become discharged the battery level management system will not allow the solenoid valve to open. The system will then provide two closing pulses to ensure fail-safe shutdown of the tap.

Replacing the Batteries 1. Carefully remove the battery box cover. 2. Remove the old batteries and replace with 6 x AA Alkaline batteries. 3. Replace the box cover.

Cleaning the Filter Solenoid Valve
Filter
1. Isolate the water supply and operate the tap to release pressure and to assist the draining of residual water. 2. Disconnect the 1/2” isolating valve from the solenoid valve and remove the filter. 3. Rinse the filter under a running tap making sure any debris or limescale is removed.

4. Replace filter and reconnect 1/2” isolating valve to the solenoid valve. Do not overtighten connections. Restore water supply making sure there are no leaks. 5. A persistent decline in flow performance not due to a blocked filters indicates a problem with the incoming water supply to the tap. See Fault Diagnosis.
Cleaning Chrome Surfaces The tap and sensor area should ONLY be cleaned using a mild washing up detergent or soap solution and wiped dry with a soft cloth. Cleaning the Aerator 1. Locate the aerator key onto the aerator. Turn the aerator key anti-clockwise and remove the aerator. 2. Rinse the aerator under a running tap making sure any debris and limescale are removed. Aerator
3. Refit the aerator using the aerator key and tighten. Do not overtighten.

Cleaning the Solenoid 1. Turn off the water supply.
2. Disconnect the solenoid.

3. Using an adjustable spanner, unscrew and remove the solenoid valve. 4. Remove the diaphragm. 5. Rinse the diaphragm under a running tap making sure any debris or limescale is removed. 6. Install the diaphragm into the solenoid valve. 7. Install the solenoid valve. 8. Connect the solenoid. 9. Turn on the water. 17
FAULT DIAGNOSIS Symptom

Debris or limescale is preventing the solenoid from operating. Remove solenoid and clean. g. Inlet water pressure is higher than 800 kPa (8 bar). Adjust plumbing to reduce supply pressure. E.g. fit pressure reducing valve. h. Temporary airlock. Isolate water supply and relieve pressure by loosening the flexible pipe.

Kohler Mira Limited guarantee this product against any defect in materials or workmanship for the period of one year from the date of purchase. To be covered by this guarantee, service work must only be undertaken by Kohler Mira Limited or by their approved agents.

Spare Parts
All functional parts of Rada products are kept for up to ten years from the date of final manufacture. If during that period, our stock of a particular part is exhausted we will, as an alternative, provide an equivalent new product or part at a price equating to the cost of repair to the old, bearing in mind the age of the product. All spares are guaranteed for 12 months from date of purchase. Spares that have been supplied directly from us can be returned within one month from date of purchase, providing that they are in good order and the packaging is unopened. Note! Returned spares will be subject to a 15% restocking charge and authorisation must be obtained before return.
Customer Care Policy
If within a short space of time of installation the product does not function correctly, first check with the operation and maintenance advice provided in this Product Manual to see if the difficulty can be overcome. Failing this, contact your installer to make sure that the product has been installed and commissioned in full accord with our detailed installation instructions. If this does not resolve the difficulty, please ring your nearest Rada contact, who will give you every assistance and if appropriate, arrange for your local service engineer or agent to call on a mutually agreeable date.
