See programming instructions. FITTING INSTRUCTIONS A The Select Ranger comes complete with a universal bracket which will allow you to fit it to single or twin switches, also single or twin socket outlets (switched/unswitched). N.B. The Select Ranger should only be fitted to flat surfaces. The Select Ranger can be fitted to the left or right of the switch or socket outlet. The Select Ranger is for FLUSH mounting only. Most domestic sockets and switches are flush mounted. Supplied already assembled for attachment to the right hand side of the switch/socket, it is easily converted for left hand use. 1 To convert the module: 1. Remove the two screws in the back of the bracket. 2. Remove the module 2 from the bracket housing. 3. Turn bracket through 180 degrees so that the legs are pointing in the opposite direction. 4. Replace the module 3 into the bracket housing, inserting the two wires from the module through the hole in the bracket housing. 4 5. Replace the two retaining screws through the back of the bracket housing into the screw holes in the module and tighten. LIGHT SWITCH Not Suitable for 2 Way Switches * When connecting to a two gang switch (2 switches on one plate) attach your Select Ranger to one switch only. 1. After switching off the mains, remove the two screws that hold the switch to the wall. 2. Pull the switch gently away from the wall. DO NOT REMOVE ANY WIRES. 3. Place the module and bracket housing over the open switch box. 4. Loosen screw to mains input (in the back of the switch) without removing any wires. 5. Insert the chosen module live wire into the input and tighten screw to secure. 6. Put the other module wire into the switch output. Follow steps 4 and 5 to complete the procedure. 7. Ensure all wires are secure in relevant ports. 8. Assemble the rest of the bracket (see below) and align with screw holes in the switch box. 9. A double-sided sticky pad is provided to secure the bracket to the wall. 10. Position the switch plate over the bracket aligning the screw holes. Using the extended screws provided, secure the whole assembly to the wall. 11. When the assembly is fully secure you can switch on the mains. 12. The Select Ranger is now ready for use. *A 2 Way switch is defined as being one of two light switches which operate the same light from different locations. LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY IMPORTANT When fitting the Select Ranger to a light switch it should be protected by an in-line fuse. However, as long as your premises are fitted with a fuse box or consumer unit, no additional fuse is required. 5 4 WARNING: DISCONNECT MAINS POWER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION B IMMERSION HEATER SWITCH (Ranger 2) For immersion heater follow instructions for 13 amp sockets. C 13 AMP SOCKETS Single/Twin/Switched/Unswitched NB. For the timer module to operate effectively on your 13 amp socket, it needs to be fitted differently to the module being attached to a light switch. 1. After switching off the mains, remove the two screws holding the socket front plate to the wall. 2. Pull the front plate gently away from the wall. DO NOT REMOVE ANY WIRES YET. 3. Place the module and bracket over the open socket. Identify the LIVE WIRE on the back of the socket and undo the screw holding it in place. 4. Using the connector provided join the LIVE WIRE to the chosen module live wire (see diagram below). Undo screws, place live wire in one end and module wire in the other and tighten screws. LIVE WIRE to socket LIVE WIRE to Timer Module 5. Insert the other module wire into the LIVE terminal on the back of the socket and tighten the screw. 6. Ensure that all wires are secure. 7. Assemble the rest of the bracket and align with the screw holes in the socket box. 8. Use the double-sided sticky pad provided to secure the bracket to the wall. 9. Position the socket front plate over the bracket aligning the screw holes. Using the extended screws provided secure the whole assembly to the wall. 10. Switch on the mains. 11. The Select Ranger is now ready for use. 12. For the socket to operate normally ensure that the timer module is in DOUBLE SOCKET ASSEMBLY the ON mode. 5 SINGLE SOCKET ASSEMBLY 13. When wishing to put the timer programme into OPERATION mode and ensure that the timer module is in AUTO mode and leave the socket switch(es) in the ON position. D ANGLE BRACKET This bracket has been provided to give an improved viewing angle (particularly useful when attaching the module to low mounted sockets). To fit the angle bracket, remove the module from the main bracket (see page 4). Place the angle bracket over the main bracket, ensuring that the lips are fitted over the main bracket. Replace module as before (see page 4). E DIMMER SWITCH One Way only OPTION 1 - Fit as if to a normal light switch. When operating the light through your Select Ranger the light will come on at full intensity. The dimmer switch will operate normally. OPTION 2 - Fit as if to a socket. This will allow you to adjust the setting on the dimmer. NOTE: (Option 2 only) For the dimmer switch to operate normally the Select Ranger must be in the ‘ON’ mode. To operate the lights with the timed programmes, the Select Ranger must be in the ‘AUTO’ mode with the dimmer switch on and adjusted to the correct setting NB: NOT SUITABLE FOR FITTING TO SURFACE MOUNTED SWITCHES OR SOCKETS. Surface mounted refers to switches or sockets which are mounted on a pattress (base box) affixed to a wall. As with most industrial/commercial sockets. See diagram. FAULT FINDING 1. If the LCD fails to come on, check that the battery is fitted correctly. 2. If the module fails to operate the timer programme, check for low battery and replace if necessary. 3. If the LCD locks in one position, press the RESET button then follow the setting/programming instructions. IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT ABOUT ANY OF THESE FITTING INSTRUCTIONS, CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
