Testing the Modules (Host/Remote)
1. Set the DIP Switch for Host on one unit, Remote on the other. Enable SNMP DIP Switches depending on what port has been chosen for SNMP. 2. Establish link on the copper and optics ports. 3. Open the CLI, and type the command config; choose the Transparent Mode.Assign a VLAN ID to management, type reboot and close. 4. Pass traffic or PING from side to side. 1. The instructions are for a Host/Remote application. 2. The default configuration is standalone. For optimal product performance, refer to our website for the latest software and firmware versions.

Configure the Software
1. Use the serial port for the initial configuration. The serial port is on the unused pins of the EXT MGMT Ethernet port. 2. Default IP address: 10.10.10.10 3. Set your computer for VT-100 or ANSI emulation. 4. Set the serial port on your computer to the following: • 38.4K baud • 8 data bits • 1 stop bit • No parity • No flow control 5. After the initial self-test is complete, the prompt “Press
for Device Configuration” appears. 6. After the Main Configuration screen opens, press I to change the Saved IP Configuration Parameter Values. 7. At the prompt, type the IP address, and then press . 8. Type the subnet mask for the device, and then press . When you install the iView² program the auto scan feature will detect the modules, and configuration through the Graphical User Interface (GUI) will become possible.
Remote Standalone
1. On the remote unit, move DIP Switch 7 to the ON position. 2. On the host unit, move DIP Switch 8 to the ON position.
