Together we rise RECREATIONAL CURRICULUM SNAPSHOT by Vedad Hadzajlic - Rise SC Technical Director PROMOTING YOUTH SOCCER AND FOSTERING A LOVE FOR THE GAME Rise SC’s principle mission is the promotion of youth soccer. We strive to instill a love for the game and to foster an environment where each player can participate according to his or her interest and ability. GUIDING OUR PLAYERS TO BE WELL-ROUNDED AND RESPONSIBLE Rise SC looks to parents and players to help create a structured, positive and fun environment where children can learn responsibility, teamwork, discipline and other life skills. We believe that both players and parents must display good character and appropriate behavior on and off the field. Rise SC cares about our families, players, coaching staff, supporters and community. Together, we can create a fun, safe and enriching environment where our children will thrive and make lifelong friends. RISE RECREATIONAL The Rise SC Recreational program (“Rise Rec”) — the largest in Houston — introduces our youngest players to the beautiful game. Rise Rec is, at heart, a community-based program, with teams formed from numerous geographic locations, including: West University, Bellaire, Meyerland, Sugar Land, First Colony, Missouri City, Sienna Plantation and Pearland. The Rise Rec Program focuses on individual skill development, building confidence in players, and maximizing creativity by allowing players to learn the game gradually in a fun, engaging environment. Rise Rec teams are coached by volunteer parent-coaches that we refer to as Team Managers. However, our Team Managers will be guided and mentored by the Rise SC Professional Coaching Staff on how to teach basic soccer fundamentals to players. This will ensure a positive experience for Team Managers and players alike. RISE RECREATIONAL PLAYER ENVIRONMENT Ours is an environment conducive to learning and development. A place where soccer players of all levels can maximize their potential. A PLACE WHERE EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE! We demand that people be the best they can be every single day. We demand that they add value above and beyond their set responsibilities, therefore, every individual MUST see a clear pathway of progression and development. • Safe and secure facilities of the highest quality • Geographically sensible, community driven • Warm and welcoming atmosphere • Volunteer parent coaches • Well-maintained kit and equipment • Clearly structured program of work
OUR GOALS • Provide a developmentally appropriate soccer environment • Make Rise SC an outstanding learning environment for young athletes and volunteers • Embrace and involve the talents of all players • That players are encouraged to make their own decisions and express their individual creativity
RISE RECREATIONAL PLAYER FUNDAMENTALS • A desire to compete to the best of their abilities • Strive to maintain poise and technique under pressure • Build your fundamental skills seasonally • Positive decision-making with the ball • Develop a confident first touch on the ball • Progress to control the ball at a variety of speeds and heights While all of our players will play to the best of their abilities, for us to succeed as a club, there is one key trait, which must never be underestimated: our players must at all times display respect for themselves, their colleagues and staff, their opponents and for all associated with their club. Without respect, we have nothing. We know we can achieve these goals only through the combined efforts of our parents, players, and volunteers. 1 Together we rise RISE REC PROGRAMMING Rise Rec programming is consistent with our philosophy to provide soccer for every player regardless of their level of play. We are very much committed to our families and communities. Keeping young athletes near their homes by providing minimal geographical challenges is a priority for us. SPECIAL RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS Friday UpRISE Night (FUN) for birth years 2014 (U4) & 2013 (U5) Rise Futures All-star program for birth years 2011 (U7) through 2008 (U10) Rise SC is excited to introduce Friday UpRISE Nights which emphasize fundamental skills session for our youngest players! Instead of the weekly-practice-plus-game format, this is a curriculum-based, developmental program. During these once weekly, hour-long sessions, the emphasis is on fun and age-appropriate skills development. A Rise SC staff coach will be on hand to help coordinate activities with the assistance of parent volunteers. Rise Futures is a new all-star program within Rise Rec for boys and girls. Rise Futures players are selected to geographically-based all-star teams by the Rise coaching staff from among all registered Rise Rec players based on all available information including player evaluations, camps, training and games. Rise Plus for birth years 2012 (U6) – 2007 (U7) The 36th annual Friendship Cup will be hosted by Rise SC at Community Park over the weekend for U8 to U19 boys and girls recreational teams. The Friendship Cup is a full blown event exclusively for recreational teams. The tournament offers friendly competition in a family oriented, fun atmosphere, on fields of the highest quality. Rise Rec teams from all our campuses will participate. We will also have recreational teams from around the greater Houston area, and we welcome recreational team from everywhere to play in this fantastic event. The Friendship Cup is open to boys’ and girls’ rec teams, school teams and church league teams. The Friendship Cup is second to none! Rise Plus is a supplementary program within Rise Recreational that provides players the opportunity to receive elite level training. Rise Plus elite training is designed to improve individual technical skills. This head start program helps further prepare players for their eventual transition into the Rise competitive program. This is a fee-based program that provides an additional training led by members of Rise SC coaching staff. The Rise Plus program falls outside of the players normal team practices and games. Rise Plus sessions will be held on Friday evenings in August and September.
