2.2 In 04.01.06 2.2.1 CleanEdit « Editing-In-Place » [RQ1391] Xedio CleanEdit now includes the “edit-in-place” feature.
Mainly dedicated to field journalists and editors looking for faster and easier ways to manage real-timeline operations right after shooting. With a simple linkup between Xedio CleanEdit workstation/laptop and external camcorders or drives, a field journalist or editor can start instantly true timeline editing operations without time/space-consuming media import process.
2.2.2 720p full support [RQ1393] Xedio suite now supports 720p (50/59.94 fps) standard for:
HD-SDI Baseband Ingest (Xedio IO) File/ENG Import (AFI/Importer) A/V Browsing/Editing Xedio Playout HDSDI (Xedio IO) Rendering/Transcoding Direct Access to XT/XS (edit-in-place)

2.2.3 Xedio CleanEdit with IPDPlugin [RQ1387] This feature provides CleanEdit NLE (file-based editing) capabilities on top of the IPDirector (from version 6 only !) content management. The main goal is to provide an easy way for the CleanEdit user to find and use the content that he needs for editing (e.g. clips, logs, bins,...).
2.2.4 Proxy resolution other than SIF (e.g. SD, HD, …) [RQ1416] For Xedio workflows using HiRes + Proxy, it is now possible to manage (encode, browse, edit, playout) Proxy files with another resolution than SIF (352x288). Xedio now supports 5 different video resolutions for Proxy Media Files: 1. 352x288 – SIF 2. 720x576 – PAL 3. 720x480 – NTSC 4. 1280x720 – 720p 5. 1920x1080 – 1080i 3.
6. 7.
video frequencies are now supported for Proxy Media Files: 25/29.94 (for interlaced only) 50/59.94 (for progressive or interlaced)
2.2.5 Canon HD XF Camera support [RQ1401] Xedio now supports files imported from Canon XF305 & XF300 Pro Camcorder (MPEG-2 HD 50 Mbps, 1920x1080).
2.2.6 Windows 7 support [RQ1406] 1
The following Xedio modules can now be run on Windows 7 workstations: Xedio CleanEdit (without or with IPDPlugin) Xedio Browse Xedio Cutter (and Cutter Ax) Xedio Manager Xedio Ingest Organizer Xedio Playout Organizer Xedio Approval Xedio Archive Organizer Xedio Explorer Xedio Media Cleaner Xedio Monitor Xedio Control Center Xedio Importer Xedio AutoFile Importer
2.2.7 Import Tools generating Proxy Media File [RQ1390] Xedio AutoFileImporter and Xedio Media Importer can now (optionnaly) generate a corresponding proxy media file and reference it into Xedio DB.

2.2.8 J-K-L Group of Shortcuts (Transport Control) [RQ1425] J, K and L group of keyboard shortcuts (known as the “Transport” or “Tape Transport” controls) are used to navigate backwards and forwards (scrub) in A/V content. This keyboard combination is more than familiar to most people who use Avid© Media Composer.
2.2.9 Xedio Add-On – new option for backup to local storage [RQ1435] Xedio Add-On (“editing-in-place” on XT/XS server) now allows to trigger a file backup of XT/XS clips to the Xedio Add-On local storage. For a multiday event itis sometimes required to clean the video disk on the XT/XS servers, in this case, it shall be possible for the Xedio Add-On Editor to keep editing on its initial sequence without having to keep the clips on the servers (edit-in-place).
Figure 1 – CleanEdit new “Make Local” option for Edit Backup process is performed thanks to Xtract and XTAccess (preinstalled on all Xedio AddOn’s). Make Local option is enabled by the following Xedio Manager parameter:
/Allow to backup XT/XS clip.
2.2.10 Xedio API – ImportEditFromEDL & EditToProject [RQ1460] Xedio API (DLL C) now provides 2 new functions: ImportEditFromEDL: This function allows to create an Edit (within Xedio DB) based on an EDL (EVS XML format) EditToProject: This function allows to add a specific Edit to a specific Project. Please contact Xedio Product Managers if you need more information about Xedio API.
2.2.11 Floating Licences managed through Xsecure [RQ1415] EVS License Manager is now replaced by Xsecure. Xsecure is now able to generate floating licenses used by Xedio Control Center.

CleanEdit Xedio Add-On Archive
When a new subfolder is created in one of the media server, this folder will not be known by the software until they restart (e.g. Playout server). Make Local (see RQ1435) only backup the clips used in the Edit, not all the ganged clips. Edits to be archived/restored can include a limited amount of voiceovers and logo objects. This limit is defined by the number of characters used to build the archive/restore command, merging the path of all the objects. Today the maximum characters is 4.000, this represents about 25 objects.

16 UPGRADE PROCESS FROM CLEANEDIT[SUITE] V2.X
The database upgrade process, launched from XedioManager on the database server, must be done with an existing user having administrative privileges. This has to be done in the ODBC setup. The database upgrade process will then change the current status of the EVS user to give him the administrative privileges as well.
The codec profiles set in Xedio Manager for use in case of Fast Motion (in CleanEdit) should be re-selected after upgrade to 3.0
The CleanEdit software parameters set in XedioManager under the “Archivage” tab, must be manually reported in the new “Archive” tab.
Database triggers and stored procedure modified in package 2.7 will be overwritten when installing Xedio 3.0. The changes that have been made should be carried forward to the database after the upgrade process to ensure same workflow behavior.
Playout servers .par files should be managed individually (per machine) regarding to its CPU and its playout resolution (XTD3335).
17 UPGRADE PROCESS FROM CLEANEDIT[SUITE] V2.X AND XEDIO 3.00.X
From Xedio 3.01 on, the encoding and rendering processes (e.g. Xedio CleanEdit, Xedio Task Engine) need the EVS Global Serial Number to be set up in the registry. To do so, please launch the EVSSerialNumber.exe. From Xedio 3.01 on, if your setup uses Xedio Task Engines and a mirrored SQL DB then the mirroring shall be stopped during the installation of the scheduler web service. See also the Important Notes at the end of this document. During an upgrade, all Xedio applications, including the services, must first be closed.
18 FAILOVER Xedio MOS Gateway, Xedio Archive Server and Xedio Control Center can now be installed on a redundant environment using EVS Failover solution (EVSDBIP). To setup the software in order to enable this redundancy solution a “-e” must be added in the AppGuard command line to the call of the software as described hereunder. "C:\Program Files\EVS Broadcast Equipment\XedioMOSGateway\AppGuard.exe" -r 2 -n 60000 -s -e "C:\Program Files\EVS Broadcast Equipment\XedioMOSGateway\XedioMOSGateway.exe" "C:\Program Files\EVS Broadcast Equipment\XedioControlCenter\AppGuard.exe"-r 2 -n 60000 -s -e "C:\Program Files\EVS Broadcast Equipment\XedioControlCenter\XedioControlCenter.exe" "C:\Program Files\EVS Broadcast Equipment\XedioArchive\AppGuard.exe" -r 2 -n 60000 -s -e "C:\Program Files\EVS Broadcast Equipment\XedioArchive\XedioArchive.exe"

No more than about 4 seconds of RTDs can be supported per HD Edit in CleanEdit or per HD playlist in Playout Organiser. From Xedio 3.01 on, if Xedio Task Engine is used on you setup, then you MUST install XedioTaskScheduler xxx.exe (check “Install Task Scheduler”) AND XedioTaskEnginexxx.exe ! For Xedio workflows based on XT/XS/IPD/XTAccess, the Primary TC MUST always be LTC (not User TC). For CleanEdit HD with direct access to XT/XS, DNxHD 100 Mbps is the only codec supported. Xedio DB Server & Software modules are only supported on the following Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003 R2 (32 bits) Windows Server 2003/2008 R2 (64 bits) – ONLY for DB Server (SQL Server 2005) Windows XP Pro SP3 (32 bits) Windows 7 (32/64 bits) Xedio Browse Virtual Clip is not supported anymore. In Xedio Archive and Xedio CleanEdit software parameter Profiles, using Xedio Manager, activating the “DeleteHiRes” option without selecting the Archive Option “ArchiveHiRes”, will not erase any Media from the storage without archiving them first. The setup of Thumbnails folder for Xedio i/o's (in Xedio Manager / Encoder / Physical Manager / Preview thumbnails path) must be configured to store the files on one of the Media Servers (central storage / SAN). This folder must be shared. Before working with 5.1 audio, the Xedio Manager General Settings and the rendering profiles shall be adjusted to match audio assignment needs. In CleanEdit, the recorder window always displays the 5.1 monitoring options in first position. CleanEdit workstations shall be installed only with fonts supported by the Windows code page used. For a Xedio software upgrade, it is recommended to install the new software on top of the previous version (no uninstall). The white EVS Remote is not supported anymore. MOG Solution tools to merge clips or extract Hires audio while importing XDCAM DV25 clips is not supported anymore in Xedio. Before any upgrade, database triggers, profiles (rendering & encoders) and RTProfs that are used in a setup must be analysed by EVS. Xedio applications do not support UNICODE. For vizRT integration: A viz animation cannot contain any PAUSE, A viz animation cannot contain more than one STOP and All the viz animations must be stretchable. Edit made with Xedio 2.07 and containing viz Gfx cannot be imported/upgraded to Xedio 3.01 The software GUI may be altered (text) when VGA displays are set with a DPI (or PPP) value greater than 100%. The AVI (DVCPRO25/50) codec are no longer supported in Xedio tools. The rendering process outputs files with 1,2,4 or 8 stereo tracks regarding to the audio output matrix defined in the software. It automatically adds tracks if the amount does not match. Using Xedio Approval together with the PCX (HD)SDI output disables the workstation audio monitoring (it is not possible to get the audio from the internal audio board while using the (HD)SDI board).
