Repetier-Host is a simple interface which facilitates the connection of the USB to the 3D printer, the display of pieces in .stl format and their lamination in .gcode thanks to the Slic3r or Skeinforge laminators. You can use only your Slic3r program to print your designs, but you will find that Repetier-Host is graphically more friendly and provides more options for controlling and displaying .stl and .gcode formats. 3 Repetier-Host Manual Witbox English INSTALLATION First, you will need to download the compatible version (Windows, Linux, MacOS) from the Repetier website: http://www.repetier.com/download/. Installation in Linux 1. Place the compressed file .tgz, which you have downloaded, in the directory in which you wish to place Repetier-Host. 2. De-compress the file tgz: xzf repetierHostLinux_0_70b.tgz 3. Open the new folder of Repetier-Host: cd RepetierHost 4. Execute the file configureFirst.sh. . It will ask you for the password: sh configureFirst.sh. 5. Install dependencies: installDependenciesDebian Linux’s own Shell may ask you whether you wish to install the necessary dependencies; in this case, enter Yes. You can always install them later. This operation can take a few minutes, and you will have to accept the downloading and installation of several bundles; this varies according to the software that you have installed in your equipment. In some distributions of Linux, normal users do not have access to serial ports.You have to include your user name in the dialout group. Then close the session and open it again. In Debian: usermod a G dialout yourUserName. 4 Witbox English Repetier-Host Manual Installation in MacOS Installation in MacOS is direct. If the file .zip is downloaded, it suffices to decompress it and to drag the application to its applications folder. If the installer .pkg is downloaded, it only needs to be executed. Installation in Windows Execute the downloaded installer, for example: setupRepetierHost_0_95.exe. Follow the steps for the installation as shown in the pictures below: 5 Repetier-Host Manual Witbox English CONFIGURATION OF REPETIER-HOST Once you have the program installed, open a window and go to the option Configurar Impresora on the upper right-hand side. new window will appear, where you are going to configure the parameters of your Witbox 3D printer. Connection Connect the Witbox to the computer, using the USB cable, and update ports until you find the one for our printer. Set the BaudRate at 115200 and the Caché de Recepción at 63. 6 Witbox English Repetier-Host Manual The printer Define the parameters of the printer as shown in the picture below: If the machine is equipped with two extruders, select 2 in the box Número de Extrusores and change the configurations as shown below: 7 Repetier-Host Manual Witbox English Dimensions of the printer As in the previous step, define the dimensions of the printer as shown below: For the configuration of a printer with double extruder, the parameters are the following: 8 Witbox English Repetier-Host Manual Advanced Leave the default configuration. Write the name of the printer in the upper part of the menu (e.g.WitBox), press Aplicar and then OK. Now you can press the Conectar button in the upper left-hand part . USE OF REPETIER-HOST WITH SLIC3R If you have the program Slic3r installed in the computer, and printing profiles already defined,you can gain access to them from Repetier-Host to generate the format .gcode. NOTE: if you haven’t yet saved the profiles, read the “Quick_Guide_ Slic3r_English”. 1) Generation of the format .gcode First, we open the file .stl in the menu Archivo > Abrir. On the Slicer tab, you will see that you have the option to use Slic3r or Skeinforge. In this guide we only use Slic3r. You will see that you can select the saved profiles and configurations which you need for the printing, the printer and the extruder. 9 Repetier-Host Manual Witbox English Once you have selected the profile, press the button Slice with Slic3r, which will automatically generate the file .gcode. 2) Print the generated .gcode Once you have a .gcode format generated, you can proceed to print the pieces if you have the Witbox connected to the Repetier-Host by USB (press the button Conectar and wait until it turns green). You can check that everything is working correctly on the Manual Control tab: 10 Witbox English Repetier-Host Manual In this menu the axes of the printer can be moved by pressing the arrows or the house-shaped icons (home position), and the extruder can be made to extrude. To print the gcode, you need only press the Imprimir button .
