The base update utility is a command line application, created by Fleetwood Group, Inc., that allows you to update the internal firmware. The keypad update utility is supplied by STMicro Electronics. This application uses the DFU functionality built into Windows. A driver is necessary for DFU update and is supplied in the installation package for the DFU update utility. NOTE: The keypad update application will be replaced by an easy to use Fleetwood specific application in the future. 3 Base Upgrade Installation Download the base upgrade utility from Fleetwood Group, Inc.’s developer website. The file can be located here: http://fleetwoodmine.hostedbyisg.com:3000/attachments/download/55/AtivaBase UpdateUtility.zip Extract the files from the archive and run the setup executable. The application will be installed in the following location: C:\Program Files\Fleetwood Group\Reply\Ativa\Update This folder is also where the firmware update file should reside. Download the latest base firmware update file and copy it into this directory. The firmware update file should look like BaseUpgradeX_XX.hex. You can find the latest update file here: http://fleetwoodmine.hostedbyisg.com:3000/projects/list_files/replyativa Running the Base Upgrade Utility Connect the base to a PC via USB. Open a command window and change directory to the following path: C:\Program Files\Fleetwood Group\Reply\Ativa\Update NOTE: Make sure there are no other applications connected to the base before trying to upgrade. Type the following command to find the base(s) connected to the system. update ativabase You should see a screen similar to the following: 4 Enter the number of the base you want to upgrade and press enter. You should see something similar to the following: Enter the number one to update the base to the version specified. Enter two to cancel. You should see something similar to the following while the base is upgrading. Do NOT unplug the base while it is upgrading. 5 You should see a success message displayed when the base is finished upgrading. It is now safe to unplug the base. 6 Keypad Upgrade Installation Download the keypad upgrade utility from Fleetwood Group, Inc.’s developer website. The file can be located here: http://fleetwoodmine.hostedbyisg.com:3000/attachments/download/41/um0412.zi p Extract the files from the archive and run the setup executable. The application will be installed in the following location: C:\Program Files\STMicroelectronics\DfuSe Download the latest keypad firmware update file and copy it into a temporary directory (you’ll need to locate this file when running the update utility). The firmware update file should look like AtivaKeypad_vXX.XX.dfu. You can find the latest update file here: http://fleetwoodmine.hostedbyisg.com:3000/projects/list_files/replyativa Running the Keypad Upgrade Utility Start the STMicro DfuSe application from the Windows start menu. Start -> All Programs -> STMicroelectronics -> DfuSe -> DfuSe Demonstration 7 Choose the upgrade file you downloaded earlier (AtivaKeypad_vXX.XX.dfu) by pushing the following button. 8 Open the DFU file downloaded from Fleetwood Group, Inc.’s website. 9 The keypad update utility should now display two update targets. 00 – Internal FLASH Update 01 – External Serial FLASH Update 10 Power on the keypad to be upgraded and connected it to the PC via USB. If this is the first time an Ativa keypad has been connected to the PC you may need to load the DFU drivers. After the drivers load the application should display the keypad in normal HID mode. Choose the “Enter DFU mode/HID detach” to put the keypad in DFU mode. NOTE: It may be necessary to browse to the following path if the DFU drivers are not found automatically. C:\Program Files\STMicroelectronics\DfuSe\Driver 11 The keypad should now be in DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode. Select the two targets (Internal Flash and ST Internal Flash) and the push the “Upgrade” button. Select yes to continue on the prompt. 12 After the Internal Flash erase/write cycle is complete you should see a success message. 13 Select the two targets (SPI Flash: AT45DB321D and Serial Flash) and the push the “Upgrade” button. Select yes to continue on the prompt. 14 After the Serial Flash erase/write cycle is complete you should see a success message. 15 The keypad is now updated with the latest firmware. To exit DFU mode select the “Leave DFU mode” button. The keypad will exit firmware update mode and force a calibration. Carefully touch the center of each target with a stylus to calibrate the keypad. NOTE: To force a recalibrate it is necessary to put the keypad in and out of DFU mode. Use the DfuSe application and push the “Enter DFU mode/HID detach”, wait for the keypad to switch and then push “Leave DFU mode”.
