Soundweb London BLU-100 ™
OVERVIEW: The Soundweb London BLU-100 offers a fixed configuration of 12 inputs and 8 outputs, configurable signal processing and a high bandwidth, fault tolerant digital audio bus. The BLU-100 has open architecture which is fully configurable through HiQnet™ London Architect. A rich palette of processing and logic objects and a “drag and drop” method of configuration provide a simple and familiar design environment. This processor features a low latency, fault tolerant digital audio bus of 48 channels which uses standard Category 5e cabling giving a distance of 100m between compatible devices. Fiber media converters can be used to increase the distance between devices to over 40km. The BLU-100 is compatible with the entire Soundweb London family and its 48 channel digital audio bus represents channels 1-48 of the larger 256 channel digital audio bus when integrated with the BLU-800, BLU-320, BLU-160, BLU-120 and BLU-BOB devices. Analog Inputs provide software configurable gain in 6dB steps up to +48dB per channel and software selectable Phantom Power per channel. Phantom Power, Signal Present and Clip information per channel is easily accessible, without the requirement for a PC, from clear front panel LED indication. A bi-directional locate function allows devices to be identified both from and within HiQnet London Architect. 12 Control Inputs and 6 Logic Outputs allow the BLU-100 to be integrated with GPIO compatible devices. The Soundweb London Interface Kit, comprehensive documentation which details how Soundweb London systems can be integrated with third party control systems, is included within the installation of HiQnet London Architect. The BLU-100 and the other members of the Soundweb London family provide the building blocks of the perfectly tailored system solution. K e y F e a t ures :

All mechanical fans have a limited life expectancy. We recommend annual inspection of fans for dust occlusion and excessive noise. Fan assemblies should be replaced after six to ten years of use. Environmental factors such as elevated temperature, dust, and smoke can adversely affect fan life. Systems exposed to these conditions should be inspected more frequently. Fan replacement can be performed either at the factory or by an experienced technician in the field. Please contact BSS Technical Support for more information on purchasing replacement parts or product service.

TABULAR DATA 1. 2. 3. 4.
Measurement/Data Processing Systems: Primary - FChart: proprietary EAW software; Secondary - Brüel & Kjær 2012. Microphone Systems: Earthworks M30; Brüel & Kjær 4133 Measurements: Dual channel FFT; length: 32 768 samples; sample rate: 48 kHz; logarithmic sine wave sweep. Measurement System Qualification (includes all uncertainties): SPL: accuracy +/-0.2 dB @ 1 kHz, precision +/-0.5 dB 20 Hz to 20 kHz, resolution 0.05 dB; Frequency: accuracy +/-1 %, precision +/-0.1 Hz, resolution the larger of 1.5 Hz or 1/48 octave; Time: accuracy +/-10.4 μs, precision +/-0.5 μs, resolution 10.4 μs; Angular: accuracy +/-1°, precision +/-0.5°, resolution 0.5°. 5. Environment: Measurements time-windowed and processed to eliminate room effects, approximating an anechoic environment. Data processed as anechoic or fractional space, as noted. 6. Measurement Distance: 7.46 m. Acoustic responses represent complex summation of the subsystems at 20 m. SPL is referenced to other distances using the Inverse Square Law. 7. Enclosure Orientation: For beamwidth and polar specifications, as shown in Mechanical Specification drawing. 8. Volts: Measured rms value of the test signal. 9. Watts: Per audio industry practice, “loudspeaker watts” are calculated as voltage squared divided by rated nominal impedance. Thus, these are not True Watt units of energy as defined by International Standard. 10. SPL: (Sound Pressure Level) Equivalent to the average level of a signal referenced to 0 dB SPL = 20 microPascals. 11. Subsystem: This lists the transducer(s) and their acoustic loading for each passband. Sub = Subwoofer, LF = Low Frequency, MF = Mid Frequency, HF = High Frequency. 12. Operating Mode: User selectable configurations. Between system elements, a comma (,) = separate amplifier channels; a slash (/) = single amplifier channel. DSP = Digital Signal Processor. IMPORTANT: To achieve the specified performance, the listed external signal processing must be used with EAW-provided settings. 13. Operating Range: Range where the processed Frequency Response stays within -10 dB SPL of the power averaged SPL within this range; measured on the geometric axis. Narrow band dips are excepted. 14. Nominal Beamwidth: Design angle for the -6 dB SPL points, referenced to 0 dB SPL as the highest level. 15. Axial Sensitivity: Power averaged SPL over the Operating Range with an input voltage that would produce 1 W at the nominal impedance; measured with no external processing on the geometric axis, referenced to 1 m. 16. Nominal Impedance: Selected 4, 8, or 16 ohm resistance such that the minimum impedance point is no more than 20% below this resistance over the Operating Range. 17. Accelerated Life Test: Maximum test input voltage applied with an EIA-426B defined spectrum; measured with recommended signal processing and Recommended Protection Filter. 18. Calculated Axial Output Limit: Highest average and peak SPLs possible during the Accelerated Life Test. The Peak SPL represents the 2:1 (6 dB) crest factor of the Life Test signal. 19. High Pass Filter: This helps protect the loudspeaker from excessive input signal levels at frequencies below the Operating Range.
GRAPHIC DATA 1. Resolution: To remove insignificant fine details, 1/12 octave cepstral smoothing was applied to acoustic frequency responses and 1/3 octave cepstral smoothing was applied to the beamwidth and impedance data. Other graphs are plotted using raw data. 2. Frequency Responses: Variation in acoustic output level with frequency for a constant input signal. Processed: normalized to 0 dB SPL. Unprocessed inputs: 2 V (4 ohm nominal impedance), 2.83 V (8 ohm nominal impedance), or 4 V (16 ohm nominal impedance) referenced to a distance of 1 m. 3. Processor Response: The variation in output level with frequency for a constant input signal of 0.775 V = 0 dB reference. 4. Beamwidth: Average angle for each 1/3 octave frequency band where, starting from the rear of the loudspeaker, the output first reaches -6 dB SPL referenced to 0 dB SPL as the highest level. This method means the output may drop below -6 dB SPL within the beamwidth angle. 5. Impedance: Variation in impedance magnitude, in ohms, with frequency without regard to voltage/current phase. This means the impedance values may not be used to calculate True Watts (see 9 above). 6. Polar Data: Horizontal and vertical polar responses for each 1/3 octave frequency band 100 Hz to 16 kHz or Operating Range.

DESCRIPTION The most widely recognized and trusted name in AC power conditioning is proud to introduce the PS-8R II power conditioner / sequencer, featuring Furman’s revolutionary SMP+ technology. Furman’s Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus (SMP+) circuit features our exclusive Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) and Extreme Voltage Shutdown (E.V.S.). Together, these technologies comprise what is, without question, the world’s most advanced and comprehensive transient voltage surge suppressor. Additionally, the PS-8R II Power Conditioner/Sequencer is capable of powering up a rack full of equipment in a 3-step delayed sequence. The sequence is reversed for power-down. The sequence can be initiated with either momentary or maintained switches, locally or remotely. A duplex outlet is provided for each delay step. A front panel screwdriver adjustment sets the delay time for the PS-8R II. The PS-8R II also features a locking
switch with a removable key for maximum security. One or more Furman PS-8R II’s may be installed in remote locations and operated via low-voltage wiring. The PS-8R II includes a rear mounted BNC jack which accepts any standard (12VAC, 0.5A) gooseneck lamp for rear rack illumination, as well as a front panel switch which controls the gooseneck’s operation. PS-REL Relay Accessory Allows a PS-8R II to be turned on by sensing AC at a preamp’s switched outlet; also allows daisy-chaining for 6 or more delayed outlet groups. Export Models Models PS-8R E II: “E” suffix versions are for use in countries with 220/240 volt AC lines. Furman Power Sequencers use internationally accepted IEC-320 connectors.
(Continued on reverse)
PS-8R II Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus (SMP+) SMP+ is Furman’s proprietary surge suppression and noise filtration system. Designed over a period of two years by our California based engineering team, SMP+ is composed of three separate and distinct technologies which work together in a precisely tuned circuit to filter or “clean” the incoming power and to protect connected equipment from potentially damaging AC events. These technologies are Linear Filtering, Series Multi-Stage Protection, and Extreme Voltage Shutdown. Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT): Unfortunately, traditional AC filter conditioners have been designed for unrealistic laboratory conditions. Prior technologies could actually harm audio and video performance more than they help, due to the resonant peaking of their antiquated, nonlinear designs. Under certain conditions, these designs can actually add more than 10 dB of noise to the incoming AC line! Worse still, lost digital data, the need to re-boot digital pre-sets, or destroyed digital converters are frequently caused by excessive voltage spikes and AC noise contaminating the equipment ground. Furman’s LiFT takes another approach, ensuring optimal performance through linear filtering and no leakage to ground.

Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP): Traditional surge suppression relies on circuits that “sacrifice” themselves when exposed to multiple transient voltage spikes, requiring the dismantling of your system and repair of your surge suppressor. With Furman’s SMP+, however, damaging transient voltages are safely absorbed, clamped and dissipated. No sacrificed parts, no service calls, no downtime. Also unique to Furman’s SMP+ is its unparalleled clamping voltage. While other designs offer clamping voltages that are well above 300Vpk, Furman’s SMP+ clamps at 188Vpk, 133 VAC RMS, even when tested with multiple 6000Vpk - 3000 amp surges! This unprecedented level of protection is only available with Furman’s SMP+ technology. Extreme Voltage Shutdown (E.V.S.): When voltage rises to extreme levels because of a lost neutral line or an accidental connection to 208 or 240 VAC, Furman’s Extreme Voltage Shutdown kicks in, automatically powering down all equipment quickly and safely in order to prevent damage from occurring. An indicator LED will then illuminate, alerting you to the situation until the over voltage condition is corrected.

OVERVIEW: The Soundweb London BLU-3, BLU-6, SW9012US and SW9015US Wall Controllers are simple analog wall controllers which provide a cost-effective and familiar interface to even the most involved audio / video system. The BLU-3 and BLU-6 are designed to be installed in a single-gang UK back box, while the SW9012US and SW9015US are designed to be installed in a single-gang US back box. Electronically, the BLU-3 and SW9012US are identical and the BLU-6 and SW9015US are identical. The BLU-3 and SW9012US feature a five position source / preset selector and a level control. The BLU-6 and SW9015US feature an eight position source / preset selector and an up / down pair of momentary buttons. The simple analog wall controllers are designed to connect to the Control Inputs of the Soundweb London BLU-800, BLU-320, BLU-160, BLU-120, BLU-80, BLU-32 and BLU-16 devices. The BLU-3 and SW9012US require two Control Inputs and the BLU-6 and SW9015US require three Control Inputs. These controllers are configured using HiQnet London Architect and almost any parameter can be mapped to the controls. However, the most common uses for these simple analog wall controllers are to select between sources and control level for a single zone or select between presets and control level for a single zone. The BLU-3, BLU-6, SW9012US, SW9015US and the other members of the Soundweb London family provide the building blocks of the perfectly tailored system solution. K e y F e a t ures :
