The last line of defence…
TS 8 High Security With increased power and cooling demands, the security aspects of the enclosure have almost faded into the background When reviewing the different security perimeters within the data centre, the enclosure is the last line of physical defence. This is why Rittal is introducing the TS 8 High Security, designed to fortify the IT equipment it houses, but also provide the necessary environment for the equipment to operate in. · Robust steel welded sub frame provides 1 metric tone load carrying capability
· Optional electronic security upgrades to allow remote monitoring and control
· No external access to side panels and top cover (fixings secured internally)
· Frame secured to floor to avoid any base entry security breach
· 4 point locking on the front and rear door increases resistance to forced entry
· Doors incorporating 82% open area, maximised cold air flow to the server inlet
· Additional SEAP lock systems easily integrated, to enhance locking capability
· Upgradeable to high density water cooled – 30 kW of cooling

Rittal QE Box – Quick and Easy The QE is a single piece welded construction, designed to support networking infrastructure in either satellite offices or small networks. Supplied with a fully glazed door as standard, which can be hinged from either side. Cable entry is via the top or bottom, with an optional cable brush. Additional cooling can be supplied via additional fan kits and with a removable side service panel you are also able to access the rear without disturbing the mounted equipment.
FlatBox - Flat Packed Self Assembly
NEW
The innovative concept behind the FlatBox unites optimised storage and shipping costs with cleverly designed, toolless, fast one-person assembly. As you would expect, Rittal sets great store by details. Compatibility with the extensive range of system accessories, optional use as a wall-mounted or floor-standing enclosure and free accessibility during installation of the network components are just a few examples. The width and depth dimension of 700 mm provides plenty of space for use as a patch distributor, and small networks with active technology are also ideal for climate control via the fan panels (maximum of 8).

KoldLok Designed to seal openings in new raised floor cutouts prior to the installation of communications or power cabling. Based on measurements at multiple Data Centres, 50-80% of valuable conditioned air is not reaching the air intake of IT equipment due to unsealed floor openings. This lost air, known as bypass airflow, contributes to IT equipment hot spots, cooling unit inefficiencies, and increasing infrastructure costs. KoldLok products specifically address bypass airflow and its detrimental effects on Data Centre cooling.

Power System Modules Special feature Power System Module The new PSM strip by Rittal, is designed to solve the key issues with supplying power into the next generation of data centres. The key difference is that the power strip is based around a dual 3-phase feed, “A” and “B” supplied in a single rail. Each phase is rated at 16 Amps and therefore the whole strip is capable of supplying 96 Amps in total. The other essential difference is that the power rail is supplied empty. If you need 6 x C13 sockets you can just plug them in, if you need 4 x C19 or even UK, just plug them in as well. This really gives the Data Centre manager the ability to change the sockets when ever they need to.
NEW
Power System Module Monitored Again based on the PSM system, the PSM monitored provides additional intelligent monitoring. The PSM Monitored can be linked via SNMP to your network for you to review the power draw and have any alarms reported directly to you. In short the PSM monitored allow easy upgrades, easy replaceable sockets and also integrates into your existing network management system.
A B
• Measurement and monitoring of the current per phase. Min./max. limits may be set. Measurement range 0 – 16 A. • Measuring and monitoring of the voltage per phase. Min./max. limits may be set. Measurement range 0 – 250 V. • Alarm notification via a flashing display. • Remote administration of the PSM rail, editing and monitoring of remote limits, SNMP trap message in case of alarm.
Power System Module Plus
PSM / PSM Monitored
The PSM plus take the power capability of the PSM even further. Incorporating 4 three phase feeds the strip is capable of supplying 192 Amps. This is designed for the high end server enclosure that still requires all the additional benefits of the original PSM. Height of Rack

Pluggable Modules These modules simply plug directly into the PSM rail system. There is no need for tools, it is simply plug and play. To remove, you simply unclip. Due to the unique connection system there is no live terminals to present a electrical hazard
Light module PSM The PSM light module is compatible with all PSM busbars. Equipped with a powerful NiMH battery, the module may be removed and used as a portable lamp. Thanks to the integral magnet, the module is easily attached to any metallic surface inside the rack. The light module is equipped with an electricity saving LED lamp to allow a long illumination time of up to 4 h. To recharge, the module is inserted into a free slot in the PSM bar.
Active PSM 8-way, individually switchable The module has 8 current outlets with IEC 320 C13 slots. Each of the 8 slots is individually switchable (via the CMC-TC system). Furthermore, current indicator, circuit display and thermal overload protection are integrated into the module. The module is twice the length of a standard PSM module, so that a maximum of 2 modules may be inserted into a 1200 mm long PSM rail, and a maximum of 3 modules into a 2000 mm long PSM rail.

Cooling
Cool arguments against climate stress Rittal high performance cooling and liquid cooling packages are important links in the IT security chain. As packaging densities continue to rise, active rack control is indispensable. Added to this is the fact that IT racks are often positioned in rooms without adequate air conditioning. This means stress for the sensitive electronics. Consequently, active and direct enclosure climate control is the optimum cooling choice. The benefits are twofold: When climate control and ventilation are ideal, computing processes are able to run efficiently. This means an uninterrupted data flow, which in turn translates into nonstop productivity.

Vertical ventilation Ventilation base/plinth, roof vent and slotted component shelves ensure heat dissipation.
Horizontal ventilation A high air throughput, stylish design and outstanding security are provided by the doors (with 78 % free surface area per door) of the server racks. Cold Aisle Containment Traps the incomming cold air in front of the server inlets. Supports approximately 10kW of cooling
LCP Extend - Installation while operational Air/water heat exchanger (12 kW) to support climate control of the room.
Up to 20 kW useful cooling output - LCP Standard The useful cooling output is achieved with a modular configuration (1 – 3 modules). Active condensate management supports inlet temperatures from +6°C to +20°C. LCP Plus - Up to 30 kW useful cooling output (rack height 2000 mm) or 40 kW (rack height 2400 mm) are achieved with 6 or 8 highperformance fans,

Cold Cube Cold Aisle Containment is increasingly being deployed in data centres where the average power demand of each cabinet exceeds 5 kW. Effectively using roof panels and slideable doors at each end of the row, enclose the cold aisle. This traps the cold air within the aisle, therefore preventing the cold and the hot air mixing. This increases the efficiencies of the hot aisle cold aisle cooling method. The other benefit is that because the cold air is now being delivered directly to the server, the cold aisle air temperature can be raised, this means the CRAC system is a lot more energy efficient which results in long-term energy cost savings. The Cold Cube system has been designed to be installed on the TS 8 enclosure system. If you would like further information or require a quotation them please contact the sales office

LCP In Line In conjunction with the new LCP Inline, cold aisle containment is an enhanced option for the efficient dissipation of high heat loads from server enclosures. With up to 30kW per module the LCP Inline integrates directly into the aisle containment and delivers cold air directly into the aisle. It can be either used as a replacement to the CRAC system or as an assistance for greater cooling capacity. With integration into the network, LCP In lines provides real time update of the status of the cooling system. With SNMP protocol included LCP Inline links directly with your NMS system to provide an additional holistic overview. ●A raised floor is not required for climate control ●To accommodate higher heat loads per server enclosure ●Redundancies easily achieved ●Direct supply of cold air to your server and network components

High Performance Modular, scalable, efficient Special feature Despite a dramatic rise in climate control requirements, cooling practice in many companies has changed little in decades. Traditional room temperature control concepts soon reach their limitations. The consequence: High on-going operating costs, low levels of efficiency, a lack of investment confidence, and reduced operational reliability. The modular configuration and scalability of the climate control innovation Rittal Liquid Cooling Package (LCP) help to minimise investment costs and maximise investment confidence, while providing sufficient scope for future extensions. The result? Solutions that are geared to your specific requirements, which may be rapidly supplemented or replaced as your needs change. The Liquid Cooling Packages (LCPs) family allows Data Centres to be extended in a temperature-neutral way, without the need for room changes. As a climate control enclosure on the side panel of a server rack, LCP Standard and LCP Plus solve the problem of high power losses for each rack. LCP Extend helps to ease the pressure on the room’s existing climate control system by providing additional useful cooling output. The latest dimension in high-performance cooling is the Data Centre solution LCP Plus with a useful cooling output of up to 30 kW per rack. The main benefits to the user are the even distribution of cold air in front of the 482.6 mm (19") level, full accessibility, and optional cooling of one or two server racks with an LCP Standard or LCP Plus. Thanks to the rackoptimised design, the air/water heat exchanger is easily integrated into existing infrastructures. Its modular design helps to keep investment to the level currently required.

Rittal Liquid Cooling Package – Perfect cooling three times over LCP Extend - Up to 12 kW of Cooling To support existing air-conditioning systems, Rittal is now offering liquid based cooling systems for retrofitting on server racks. The new LCP (liquid cooling package) unit is based on an air/water heat exchanger technology and solves the problem of high heat losses of up to 10 kW per rack. Without having to modify existing series of enclosures, the innovation can be attached as an independent cooling unit to the rear doors of practically any rack - and while the rack is in operation. The hot air, dissipated towards the rear by the servers, is forced through the air/water heat exchanger by fan units and then expelled. However, connection to a circulatory cooling-water supply is necessary before the LCP unit can be installed.
LCP Standard - Up to 20 kW of Cooling The Rittal Liquid Cooling Package (LCP) standard is installed as a climate control enclosure at the side of a server rack, it solves the problem of high heat losses with a scalable cooling system based on air-water heat exchangers. The enclosure houses one, two or three air-water heat exchangers with cooling capacities of 4 kW each. The full configuration, therefore, delivers a standard cooling capacity of 12 kW - with options to raise this further to up to 20 kW. The cold air is introduced laterally - directly in front of each server row - and thus ensures constant and equal thermal conditions. Each module possesses its own control unit, but can also be incorporated into the user's overall monitoring network.
LCP Plus - Up to 30 kW of Cooling LCP Plus solves the problem of high power dissipation of up to 30 kW per rack. It is fitted as an environmentally controlled chamber on the side of a server rack. Major advantages for the user are the even distribution of the chilled air in front of the 19" level, complete accessibility and cooling, of either one or two server racks with one LCP. As a standard, a cooling performance of up to 30 kW is provided. The cold air is blown in horizontally - directly in front of the rows of servers - and ensures smooth thermal conditions. The LCP possesses its own regulation system, which can be integrated into a superordinate monitoring network via Computer Multi Control Top Concept (CMC-TC). The user benefits from comprehensive safety features.

Monitoring and Security
Special Feature Rack Extinguisher Systems This compact rack extinguisher system DET-AC Plus (Detection Active Plus) is designed for use in the Rittal IT rack, installed within the system and is equipped with a 2-stage smoke analysis extractor system. The ecofriendly, non-toxic Novec1) 1230 is used as the extinguisher medium, which means that this extinguisher system is suitable for universal use. Sensitive hardware such as servers, storage and switches are not impaired by the extinguisher medium. Alarm messages are transmitted optically via the LCD display on the front. Remote monitoring is achieved by connecting the integral volt free contacts to the building management system or fire alarm centre. The DET-AC can also be connected to the network via the Rittal monitoring system CMC-TC. In the event of a power failure the system is supported by an integral battery back-up (4 hours). This ensures that even in the worst scenario you can rely on the DET-AC Plus to protect your valuable IT equipment. Without the extinguisher cylinder the system can also be deployed as an early fire detection system. 1) Novec is a registered trademark of 3M.
Early smoke detection: Due to the two highly sensitive optical sensors, minute particles of smoke may be detected even in the early stages of a fire (pyrolysis phase) via the active smoke detectors. If the 1st alarm detects smoke particles, a prealarm is triggered, if the 2nd sample also detects smoke, the extinguisher system is activated. The gas is released into the enclosure to prevent further fires from developing.
Rack requirements: It is recommended that the racks must meet protection category IP 55, i.e. with sealed doors and screw-fastened side panels. Use of an air/water heat exchanger (LCP) is supported.
Optional smoke analysis, extension for bayed racks: The basic DET-AC Plus system is designed for a single rack, but neighbouring enclosures may also be integrated via an additional pipe kit, provided the total interior enclosure volume to be extinguished does not exceed 3 m3. Several extinguisher systems may also be linked together in the bayed configuration, so that all systems may be activated in unison.
Automatic system deactivation (compulsory deactivation): In the event of a fire within the enclosure it is best practice to shut the power down to all the effected equipment. By removing the power you isolate the initial source of the fire thus preventing further damage. Integrating the DET-AC Plus system with Rittals' advanced power management systems allows you to achieve this robust configuration.

UPS Classifications UPS classification to IEC 62 040-3
The standard IEC 62 040-3 is a classification system for the unique classification of both current and future UPS technologies. As the UPS classifications to IEC 62 040-3 are not yet widely known among those interested in UPS systems, here is a brief introduction to this topic. The first of three stages in the standard addresses the dependency of the UPS output on the input, i.e. the mains current. There are three categories in this level, which largely correspond to the old classification of stand-by, line-interactive and online/double-conversion. The second and third stages of the IEC standard define the voltage curve and the dynamic tolerance curves of the UPS output. Each of these stages has three values to allow a more detailed classification of the UPS.
