TO LIGHT THE BOILER
WARNING: if the pilot flame is extinguished either intentionally or unintentionally no attempt should be made to re-light the gas until at least 3 minutes have elapsed. 1. Check that the boiler switch is in OFF position and that the boiler thermostat is at its lowest setting. 2. Ensure that the gas supply to the boiler is turned ON. 3. Set the room thermostat to the required temperature. 4. Set the clock control to an ON period. 5. Push in and keep fully depressed the white start button on the multifunctional control (Fig. 1 - pos. 2) and at same time push in and release the piezo unit button several times (Fig. 1 - pos. 1). This provides a spark to light the pilot. The pilot flame may be viewed directly through the viewing port. 6. Once the pilot is alight keep the white start button fully pushed in for 20 seconds and then release. If the pilot flame goes out push in and release the red stop button on the multifunctional control (Fig. 1 pos. 3) and wait 3 minutes. Repeat from step 5. 7. Turn the boiler thermostat clockwise to its MAXIMUM setting. 8. Switch the boiler switch to ON and the boiler will light. 9. Adjust all controls to the required settings.
2
2.2 For long periods e.g. during the summer months. - Turn the boiler thermostat anti-clockwise to its minimum setting. - Push in and release the red stop button on the multifuntional control (Fig. 1 - pos. 3). This will extinguish the pilot and main burner. - Turn off the electricity supply to the boiler pushing the main switch. - Shut the main gas isolating valve. N.B. Main gas isolating valve should be turned off only in case of long shut-down periods, emergencies or during servicing.
3
The boiler is fitted with a overheat-cut-off thermostat that will shut down the gas burner in the event of high water temperature. This control requires manual re-setting before the boiler is in a position to operate again (Fig. 1 - pos. 4). To re-set the overheat-cut-off thermostat 1.
Allow the boiler to cool down. Note: do not attempt to re-set the thermostat until the boiler has cooled down or the thermostat may be damaged.
2.
Fully push in the button on the thermostat (Fig. 1 pos. 4) and follow the lighting procedure.

SMOKE STAT
The RMG boilers are equipped with a smoke stat placed on the control panel with its sensor fitted on the internal side of the draught diverter assembly. It is a safety device that is used in order to prevent smoke entering into the room when the chimney is obstructed or doesn’t operate well. To re-set the stat unscrew its cover and push the under button (Fig. 2). Before re-setting the stat make sure that the electrical supply is OFF.
If at any time a gas leak is suspected turn OFF the gas supply - DO NOT USE A NAKED LIGHT - and contact the nearest Gas Board immediately. With regular servicing and care your boiler should give you cotinued trouble free operation and satisfaction. If a plug is used to connect the mains it must be of 3 pin type, wired as shown in Fig. 3 and fused at 3 Amps.

FROST PROTECTION
If frost is likely during the short absences, leave the boiler running by setting the control thermost to a low setting. For long periods the whole system should be drained including the domestic hot water supply. If a frost thermostat is installed seek the advice of your installer.
6
MAINTENANCE
Regular servicing is essential to maintain efficient and reliable service. The User is strongly recommended to make a contract with the Gas Region or Heating Engineer for servicing at least annually and preferably at the end of the Heating Season.
7
IMPORTANT
There must be free access to the boiler for servicing and the air supply to it must not be restricted in any way. The boiler must be kept clear of dust, towels, rags and any other combustibile material. Always ensure that the combustion air inlets to the boiler are kept clean and clear of debris. The outer casing can be cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth which has been immersed in soapy water and then wiping with a dry cloth. 2
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The wire which is coloured green-and-yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol or coloured green or green-and-yellow. The wire that is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire that is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. Should the mains cable require replacement, get in touch exclusively with the authorized technical staff.
