UPDATED Implementation of New RNAV Approach with LP (Localizer Performance) Level of Service Implementation of New GPS Phase Indicator 09 October 2012 In accordance with ARINC 424 documentation, Jeppesen is preparing to provide RNAV approaches with LP (Localizer Performance) level of service. At this time we anticipate the enhancements to allow us to deliver LP Procedures starting cycle 1302. BACKGROUND Jeppesen receives Aeronautical source that contains RNAV approaches with LP and LNAV level of service. Currently, Jeppesen is providing these RNAV approaches with only the LNAV level of service provided. Jeppesen will be updating our systems to provide these procedures with LP and LNAV level of service. With the LP level of service, Jeppesen will also provide a Path Point (PP) record.
SUMMARY For LP Procedures, the Approach (PF/HF) record will contain the LP level of service in columns 42 and 43 of the Airport Procedure Data Continuation record. If LP is the only authorized level of service, then a W (Path Point required) will extract in column 119 (Qualifier 1). Jeppesen has implemented GPS Phase Indicator D per ARINC-20 specifications. Receiving the GPS Phase Indicator D with LP level of service will be optional, otherwise the GPS Phase Indicator will be A. When LP is the only level of service, receiving the procedure will be optional. If there are additional levels of service (LNAV or LNAV/VNAV) they will be in column 53 thru 73 as normal and you may receive the procedure as a normal RNAV or GPS procedure depending on your parameter settings. The Path Point for the LP level of service will be coded the same as a LPV Path Point record except the Vertical Alert Limit (VAL) in columns 113 thru 115 of the Path Point primary (PP) record will be 000 and the Approach Type Identifier (ATI) in columns 47 and 48 of the Path Point (PP) continuation record will be LP.
