Role Profile Job Title Department Band : : : Digital Content Support Assistant Aardman Rights and Brand Development TBC Function of the department/section & main purpose of the job: Department: Aardman’s Rights & Brand Development division spearheads the licensing and brand development across Aardman’s portfolio of brands, developing global brand plans that balance both creative integrity and the ability to create sustainable revenues for the company and our partners. Job Purpose: The key function to the role is supporting the creation and delivery of all assets, content and metadata to service Aardman’s digital distribution platforms, such as Aardman’s YouTube channels, and delivery of assets to iTunes, Amazon, Netflix, Google Play and other platforms, working closely with the Senior Digital Content and Partner Manager and Delivery and Assets Coordinator to ensure the materials are created, managed and delivered in line with deal requirements and platform strategy. The role also manages the user generated content (UGC) that is frequently uploaded to YouTube and other sites, by using the tools such as Content ID to apply our set policy against the UGC. This will involve issuing legal takedown notices to P2P and torrent sites. Additionally the job supports the day-to-day delivery requirements for TV / video partners and administers the Aardman screening room. The person will have sound knowledge of post-production processes, they will be required to manage back-end systems, Excel metadata templates, XML, and undertake basic editing and graphic layout work and therefore someone who is technically savvy with some creative flair is needed. A basic understanding of encoding to digital formats plus confidence using Photoshop, Excel, and XML creation is a must. The role and responsibilities may change over time due to new emerging platforms or technology. Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Working closely with the Senior Digital Content Manager, AVOD Channel Manager, and Digital Content Creator to implement YouTube content launches and optimise channels. This includes, sourcing and encoding of material, creating thumbnails, creating and programming end sequences, making info cards, publishing metadata and uploading all assets and generally optimising channels and content across all Aardman’s AVOD platforms. 2. Working closely with the Senior Digital Content Manager and AVOD Channel Manager, using YouTube Content ID system and similar channel management systems to manage user generated content according to policies in place, ensuring there is a pro-active and robust system is in place to both control illegal content on YouTube and other AVOD/SVOD/FVOD channels. Also issuing takedown notices to P2P and Torrent sites who host Aardman content illegally. 3. Working closely with the Senior Digital Content & Partner Manager to plan digital content deliveries, and supporting the Deliverables & Assets Co-ordinator as required on day-to-day deliveries. This includes uploading to partner portals such as iTunes Connect, Netflix Backlot and others. 4. Set content live on EST/VOD channels according to the schedules and having confirmed that contracts/rights are checked and agreed before setting content live. 5. Sourcing and assembling metadata templates in line with partner requirements and maintaining a database of partner metadata. 6. Closely monitor digital platforms such as iTunes, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon and Google Play to ensure content sits fault free and resolve any technicalities/customer issues, working with Deliverables & Assets Coordinator. 7. Liaising with the design team needed to create image files for each series/episode/film and building and maintaining a digital imagebank for these. 8. Liaising with Edit department and the Deliverables & Assets Coordinator on technical requirements for tape and digital deliveries and encoding content for digital platforms, in formats required. Some encoding training can be given if required. 9. Keeping the Aardman screening room up to date with latest screeners and setting up client access as requested, or dispatching disc screeners if required. 10. Creating translated metadata working with agencies to agreed budgets plus SDH or Closed Captioning for digital platforms as necessary. 11. Report content/channel analytics as required Person Specification:                 1-2 years’ experience in post-production and/or content delivery Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically, Premier, After Effects, Photoshop and Media Encoder Experience of creating metadata for online platforms Excellent understanding of video content consumption on all digital platforms (online, mobile, IPconnected devices) Previous experience of working with online video, iTunes, Amazon and/or the YouTube platform itself Previous experience of using broadcast file delivery applications such as Signiant and Aspera Some experience in delivering broadcast content to TV, DVD Numerate and analytical - comfortable with understanding and creating actions from audience data sources, and very competent with Excel and XML documents A background in and understanding of digital delivery and technical post production Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Technical and creative problem-solving capabilities Experience of fast-moving environments where decision-making and agility are key to success Have an understanding of the digital landscape and a proven interest in keeping up to date with developments in web platforms and applications Have the ability to generate ideas independently as well as working within a team An excellent eye for detail An interest in film production
