Stand Mixer Attachment Safety Your safety and the safety of others are very important. We have provided many important safety messages in this manual and on your appliance. Always read and obey all safety messages. This symbol alerts you to potential hazards that can kill or hurt you and others.
All safety messages will follow the safety alert symbol and either the word “DANGER” or “WARNING.” These words mean:

All safety messages will tell you what the potential hazard is, tell you how to reduce the chance of injury, and tell you what can happen if the instructions are not followed.
Important SafeGUARDS mixer malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the mixer to the nearest Authorized Service Center for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment. 7. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock or injury. 8. Do not use the mixer outdoors. 9. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of table or counter. 10. Never feed food by hand. Always use the food pusher. 11. Blades are sharp. Handle carefully. 12. To Attach Stand Mixer Attachment 6. Tighten the attachment knob by turning it clockwise until the attachment is completely secured to the mixer.

1. Turn Stand Mixer speed control to “0” (OFF). 2. Unplug mixer or disconnect power. 3. Depending on which type of hub you have, either flip-up the hinged cover or loosen the attachment knob (A) by turning it counter clockwise and remove attachment hub cover. 4. Insert the attachment shaft housing (B) into the attachment hub (C) making certain that the attachment power shaft fits into the square hub socket. 5. It may be necessary to rotate the attachment back and forth. When the attachment is in proper position, the pin on the attachment housing will fit into the notch on the hub rim.

Rotating Blade Hazard Always use food pusher. Keep fingers out of openings. Keep away from children. Failure to do so can result in amputations or cuts.

Optional Accessory Pack (ref. EMVSC) 4. Remove the drum from the drum housing and insert the chosen drum in the housing. NOTE: When tightening or loosening drums, use a kitchen towel to prevent slippage.
To Assemble the Rotor Vegetable Slicer/Shredder and Optional Drums IMPORTANT: The Rotor Vegetable Slicer/ Shredder comes with a drum in position in the “Drum Housing” (J). To use another drum, select the drum you require: 1. Be sure speed-control is still on “0” (off) and mixer is unplugged. 2. Make sure the motor head is down completely. 3. Remove the locking ring (L) by twisting it clockwise and pulling it off.

5. Place locking ring (L) on the Rotor Slicer/Shredder body (J), twisting it counter clockwise to secure. 6. Pull on the drum assembly to make sure it is locked in place.

Rotor Vegetable Slicer/Shredder and Optional Drums An Optional Accessory Pack (EMVSC) of drums may also be purchased separately for the Rotor Vegetable Slicer/Shredder.
To Use the Rotor Vegetable Slicer/Shredder and Optional Drums The drum you select should be suited to the food to be sliced, shredded or grated. Here are some suggestions:

MVSA Rotor Vegetable Slicer/Shredder Standard Drums:
Fine Shredding drum (G) – For shredding hard cheeses, nuts, chocolate and dry bread.
Medium Shredding Drum (D) – For shredding raw root and green vegetables to be consumed raw; almonds and nuts for baking; all kinds of fruits; soft cheeses.
Potato Grating Drum (H) – For grating potatoes to make potato pancakes. Stripping (Julienne) Drum (I) – Stripping raw root and green vegetables.
Coarse Shredding Drum (E) – For shredding raw root and green vegetables for making soups; all kinds of fruits for pies; almonds, nuts and bars of chocolate for toppings; cheese and cheese rinds.
To Clean the Rotor Vegetable Slicer/Shredder and Optional Drums Not all parts are dishwasher safe! Wash the drums in warm water with mild detergent. Thoroughly rinse, and dry with a soft cloth.
Slicing Drum (F) – For slicing potatoes; onions; raw root and green vegetables; all kinds of fruits.
*These drums cannot be purchased separately. They are only available in this pack EMVSC.
