Ruckus Wireless® ZoneFlex version 9.7.1 (9.7 MR1) Release Notes
1. Introduction This document provides release information on FlexMaster, ZoneDirector and supported ZoneFlex Access Point platforms, along with known issues, caveats, workarounds, upgrade details, and interoperability information for version 9.7.1. NOTE: By downloading this software and subsequently upgrading the ZoneDirector and/or the AP to version 9.7.1, please be advised that: •
The AP may send a query to Ruckus containing the AP’s serial number. The purpose is to enable your AP to autonomously connect with a wireless LAN controller (vSCG) operated by your choice of cloud service provider. Ruckus may transmit back to the AP, the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) or IP address of the controller that the AP will subsequently attempt to join.
Please be advised that this information may be transferred and stored outside of your country of residence where data protection standards may be different.
2. What’s New in This Release For a list of features that have been added in this release, see the “What’s New in ZoneFlex 9.7” document, available from the Ruckus Wireless support website. Please refer to Release Notes for prior releases for information on previously documented caveats, limitations, enhancements and resolved issues. 5. Enhancements and Resolved Issues This section lists enhancements that have been added and issues from previous releases that have been resolved in this release.
5.1. ZoneDirector 5.1.1. Resolved Issues in MR (build 9.7.1.0.17) 5.1.2. Improved consistency of memory utilization values returned via CLI and SNMP. (ID ER-1092) 5.1.3. Resolved a “Netlink Error” message in syslog issue. (ID ER-1016) 5.1.4. Resolved a client roaming issue that could result in delays when roaming due to disconnect messages being sent to the client. (ID ER-1073) 5.1.5. Resolved an issue with APs being unable to join ZoneDirector due to the default MTU size set on ZoneDirector running on version 9.6. (ID ER-929) 5.1.6. Resolved a display issue on the AP Monitor tab where a DFS blocked channel would be displayed repeatedly. (ID ER-608) 5.1.7. Resolved an issue that could cause the LEDs on ZoneFlex 7761-CM and 7781CM APs to incorrectly remain on under certain conditions. (ID ER-1052) 5.1.8. Resolved an issue with Bonjour service restarting frequently due to abnormal configuration. (ID ER-1075) 5.1.9. Resolved an issue that could occasionally cause ~2 seconds of packet loss during roaming. (ID ER-1091) 5.1.10. Resolved an issue with Opportunistic Key Caching with Spectralink 8030 phones. (ID ER-1101) 5.1.11. Resolved a Bonjour Gateway issue with using a period (“.”) character in AirPrint printer names. (ID ER-1130) 5.1.12. Added a warning to ensure the user disables all WLANs (including mesh) before modifying external antenna settings for outdoor APs (ID ER-1136). 5.1.13. Resolved an issue with mesh APs becoming isolated when too many neighbors are seen, causing the MAP to be unable to connect to the specific uplink AP the mesh algorithm specifies. (ID ER-1155) 5.1.14. When using Hong Kong country code Mesh APs should no longer fail to reconnect on UNII-1 band channels after a Root AP reboot. (ID ER-1165) 5.1.15. Resolved an issue with SSH and Web UI access after upgrading standalone ZoneFlex 2942 APs due to memory limitations on older APs. (ID ER-1176) 5.1.16. Currently active client monitoring tables can now be sorted by AP name. (ID ER-1184) 5.1.17. Resolved an issue with 7781CM Ethernet ports going into host-only mode after a mesh role change. (ID ER-1227) Page 6 of 11

Resolved an issue that could cause ZF 7962 APs to reboot when a certain stream of DHCP packets is received. (ID ER-1079) 5.1.23. Resolved an issue that could allow web portal clients to remain connected after session expiration. (ID ER-1019) 5.1.24. ZoneDirector 3000 no longer improperly limits the maximum number of local users to 1250 when configuring users via CLI. (ID ER-967) 5.1.25. APs will now always send “Ruckus CPE” in DHCP Option 60, instead of some APs sending “Ruckus”, which could cause APs to be unable to contact ZoneDirector after upgrading. (ID ER-1033) 5.1.26. Improved handling of high volume HTTP requests that could cause high CPU usage in ZoneDirector 1100 and AP heartbeats lost when Hotspot WLANs are deployed under high client load conditions. (ID ER-337, ZF-6220) 5.1.27. Resolved an issue that could cause a delay of up to 45-60 seconds in redirecting to the requested URL when Device Policy is applied on a Captive Portal WLAN. (ID ER-1065) 5.1.28. Resolved an issue with ‘Malicious rogue AP goes away’ events triggered even after marking it as ‘known’ AP. (ID ER-1216) 5.1.29. Bonjour Gateway will now support non-native AirPrint printers attached to a Microsoft Windows system via 3rd party tools such as AirPrint Installer. (ID ER-1225) 5.1.30. Resolved an issue that could cause APs to reboot sporadically due to an undesired encryption path taken under race conditions. (ID ER-1067, ER-397) 5.1.31. The Neighbor APs display should now properly display neighbors on other channels. This error could occur when the service schedule of the AP radio’s first WLAN (which may not be the first WLAN configured on ZoneDirector) is set to always off. (ID ER-1124) 5.1.32. Resolved an issue that could cause the management IP address to become unusable after Smart Redundancy failover. (ID ER-1221) 5.1.33. Corrected Japanese translation of AP configuration page content. (ID ER1153)
5.1.34. Resolved Issues in MR Refresh (post MR build 9.7.1.0.17) 5.1.35. Resolved an issue that could cause ZoneDirector’s web interface to become unresponsive after clicking "Monitor > Map View." (ID ZF-7870)

5.1.36. Resolved an issue that could allow clients to connect to the Mesh SSID rather than a service SSID when the Mesh SSID was misconfigured (using the same name for the Mesh SSID as a service WLAN). (ID ER-1297) Note: The Mesh SSIDs (and passwords) used for configuring Mesh network components (ie: Mesh APs or eMesh Aps) should NOT be the same as typical client SSIDs. 5.1.37. ZoneDirector now supports extended ASCII characters in canonical names for Active Directory authentication. (ID ZF-6209, ER-1331) 5.1.38. Resolved an issue that could cause ZoneDirector 5000 to failover due to corruption of its WLAN group configuration. (ID ER-1354) 5.1.39. Resolved an issue that could cause large packet transmissions to fail when Ruckus APs use L2TP tunneling with certain Cisco switches. (ID ER-1193) 5.1.40. Smart Redundancy failover events should now properly trigger email alerts when email alerts are configured for SR events in Alarm settings. (ID ER1343) 5.1.41. Client IP addresses should now display correctly in client monitoring page tables. (ID ER-953) 5.1.42. Resolved a rogue AP detection issue when an ACL for allowed clients is configured and applied to WLANs. (ID ER-1285) 5.1.43. Resolved an issue that could cause ZoneFlex 7055 APs to come up without the 5 GHz radio after being rebooted. (ID ER-1182) 5.1.44. Resolved two mesh AP uplink selection issues (ID ER-1288): • Mesh AP had several beacon misses. • Uplink recovery improved by reducing recovery timer interval between uplink candidates selected. 5.1.45. Resolved a Bonjour Gateway issue that could cause ZoneDirector to forward the wrong IP address when multiple IP addresses for an Apple device are configured. (ID ER-1399)
5.2. ZoneFlex Access Points 5.2.1. Resolved Issues 5.2.2. Resolved an issue with Hotspot service on standalone APs that could allow clients to remain connected after the configured session expiration time. (ID ER-1169)

6. Caveats, Limitations and Known Issues This section lists the caveats, limitations, and known issues for FlexMaster, ZoneDirector and ZoneFlex Access Points in this version. Please also refer to previous (e.g., 9.6, 9.7) Release Notes documents for previously documented caveats and limitations.
6.1. ZoneDirector 6.1.1. Ethernet Port Settings 6.1.2. ZoneDirector 1100 and ZoneFlex AP Ethernet ports can become disabled if half-duplex is forced on any port. (ID ER-1208, ER-1229) This problem affects the following: • ZoneDirector: ZD 1100 • APs: ZoneFlex 7341, 7343, 7351, 7363, 7761, 7762, and 7962. Workaround: Uplink switch ports must be set to 100Mbps auto-negotiation or 1000Mbps auto-negotiation.
6.1.3. General 6.1.4. ZoneDirector’s Blocked Clients list is inactive for Autonomous WLANs when a L2 ACL is assigned to the WLAN. Workaround: Copy individual clients to the assigned L2 ACL. (ID ER-1179, FR-899) 6.1.5. ZoneDirector’s Rogue AP list fails to display rogue APs on channels other than the AP’s service channel when one of the AP’s WLANs service schedule is off. (ID ZF-7789) Workaround: First change WLAN service schedule to ‘always on’. Rogue APs should now show up for other channels. Now the unused WLANs can be removed from the WLAN group. 6.1.6. The Map View page fails to load with an "Application Blocked" message when viewing with the latest Java version. The new version of Java does not allow users to run unsigned or self-signed applications or applications that are missing permission attributes. (ID ZF-7779) Workaround: Add ZoneDirector’s Map View page to the Exception Site List in the Java Control Panel. Start the Java Control Panel, under the Security Tab, click Edit Site List and add the following: https://[zd-ip-address]/admin/mon_map.jsp 6.1.7. When ZD is upgraded from 9.5 / 9.6 to 9.7.1, if dynamic VLAN is configured on a dot1x WLAN, the following user configuration is required to be added to the RADIUS server: Tunnel-Medium-Type must be set as 6. (ID ER-1251)
