SHOW CONTROL
Everyday life has become the staging ground for entertainment-technology experiences. The art and wonder of interactive lighting, automation, audio and visual spectacle, kinetic-art displays, water effects, and more are captivating people’s attention – differentiating a venue, creating a landmark, making a truly memorable event. A control solution that allows you to merge show control, LEDs, moving lights, media effects, and more into a single work of art is essential in seamlessly closing the distance between technology and life. The Mosaic® Show Control system frees you to focus on creativity. Mosaic Software provides the canvas for your artistic design, from conception through programming and ongoing management. And Mosaic Show Controllers provide a compact solution for running shows reliably with peace-of-mind precision. For unique environments or installations – retail displays, museum exhibits, casino décor, public art, themed design, artful exteriors, seasonal and special events – Mosaic is the solution.
MOSAIC SOFTWARE With Mosaic, you directly create a show in real time using a Mac or PC. Even after uploading the show, Mosaic has all the features necessary to influence and modify a design to be interactive with an installation. If your only option is to program on a lighting console or capture looks on a playback device, then you are limited in how you can control lighting and other effects – it can only reproduce output as programmed, with no opportunity for interaction. Mosaic Software provides a framework for creating a unique installation – freeing you to focus on creativity not technology. You have everything you need to import project plans and system layout, position fixtures and devices, edit triggers and timelines, select color, program effects, map pixels to an array, play back media, simulate the results, and upload your show. Maintaining and refreshing an installation is also simple with Mosaic’s user-oriented management software.

DESIGNER SOFTWARE Mosaic Designer melds the capabilities of a lighting control console, the flexibility of a media server, and the precision of a PLC to achieve artistic visions. Mosaic software guides you through projects, with tools at each step: DesignView allows you to import images to form the basis of your lighting design so that fixtures and other elements reflect specific architectural plans and can be used for simulation and programming. The built-in fixture library provides access to LEDs, moving lights, and other devices to simplify programming. Intuitive timeline-based programming and an integrated color picker allow for time-efficient programming and on-the-fly adjustments. Built-in pixel mapping tools go beyond traditional lighting effects, allowing a group of fixtures to be used as a virtual screen for playback of static or dynamic video images. TriggerManager links your timelines to the outside world by allowing specific timelines to be linked to external inputs or realtime events. If you are using the Mosaic Tessera (TPC), TouchEditor lets you design user interfaces. The intuitive button and fader interface makes it easy to organize multiple pages of controls, configure and customize their appearance. TouchEditor comes with editable templates of page controls – buttons, sliders and color pickers. Several themes that govern the appearance of page controls are included and custom themes can be created.

SHOW CONTROLLERS Set it and forget it. Mosaic Show Controllers are designed to withstand the wear and tear of any circumstances – mounted on a wall, hidden away in a themed environment or a small electrical cabinet, or built into the structure of an art installation itself – Mosaic Show Controllers are hardcore control hardware. Mosaic controllers come ready for integration with other devices. The Mosaic Show Controllers 1, 2, and 4 (MSC1, MSC2, and MSC4) speak DMX, Ethernet, RS232 Serial, and MIDI natively. They also include tried-and-true on-board tri-mode inputs – so you have everything you need right on the controller. The Mosaic Tessera Panel Controller (MTPC) features an elegant touchscreen user-interface and functions as a stand-alone controller with Ethernet output. For power beyond compare – universes of control for all your grand-scale ideas – the Mosaic Show Controller X (MSCX) controls up to 102,400 channels. To expand your reach to anywhere a network can take you, Mosaic Remote Input/Output Modules (RIOs) offer your choice of digital inputs, relay outputs, and serial ports.

SHOW CONTROLLER 1, 2, AND 4 Mosaic Show Controllers are packed with possibilities. These ‘instant-on’ compact controllers run sophisticated shows time after time. With support for DMX512 and DMX-over-Ethernet protocols to control color-mixing features, conventional dimmable fixtures, and automated lights, the possibilities are limitless. MSC1 provides 512 channels of control, MSC2 provides 1024 channels, and, for the ultimate compact performance, the MSC4 provides 2048 channels in a solid-state package. You can choose to output DMX512 directly to your devices or send the data to your network using DMX-over-Ethernet protocols: streaming ACN, Philips KiNet™, ArtNet™, or Pathway XDMX™. Each MSC has the same extensive range of external triggering interfaces, including Ethernet, RS232 Serial, MIDI, and digital inputs. A built-in real-time clock triggers precise timed events, including ‘sunrise’ and ‘sunset’ astronomical cues. Additional triggering interfaces are supported using Mosaic’s optional RIO devices. [See RIOs, p. 8]. Multiple MSCs can also be used together for larger installations and synchronized automatically over Ethernet.
Features QuickChange DesignerAccess
Show Controllers feature QuickChange, where invaluable show data is stored on a removable SD card that can be transferred to another MSC if needed. MSCs also feature DesignerAccess, an internal web server with status, configuration information, remote monitoring, and remote show uploads.

TESSERA CONTROLLER A “tessera” is a tile in a mosaic but also an object of value. Likewise, with an elegantly compact local touchscreen, the Tessera Controller is a standalone full controller and part of a greater networked system. Tessera is unique in handling complex lighting and lighting devices, as well as impromptu show-control, pixel mapping, accessories, and non-lighting effects – for complete control – in an economical package. Tessera’s touchscreen interface provides 512 channels of DMX-over-Ethernet to control color-mixing features, conventional dimmers, automated lights and more. The built-in timeclock triggers precise timed events, including astronomical and lunar events. Triggering interfaces are supported by adding additional controllers, Mosaic Remote Input and Output Modules (RIOs) or the TPC-RIO. Like all Mosaic Show Controllers, Tessera’s integrated show-control capability is programmed using Designer software. With DesignerAccess, Tessera draws on an internal web server with pages providing status, configuration information, remote monitoring, and remote show uploads. Used as a wall station, the Tessera is an object of beauty, blending cleanly and unobtrusively into any interior design. It is available in cream, white, black, or black with an aluminum bezel – to complement your décor.

SHOW CONTROLLER X Extreme show control. Mosaic control systems offer a network with strength and flexibility perfect for most applications, but there are exceptions. Large projects pose a number of challenges: from the sheer volume of control required, to the variety of different technologies that need to work together, to high-level mediacontent integration. When applications need a bit more control, the Mosaic Show Controller X (MSC X) expands Mosaic’s capabilities. Designed to meet the unique needs of landmark projects, the MSC X is available in capacities ranging from 5,120 channels of DMX-over-Ethernet (10 universes) up to more than 100,000 channels (200 universes) from a single 19-inch equipmentrack-mounted unit. Like the Show Controller and Tessera Controller, the MSC X has an expansive range of external triggering interfaces, including Ethernet, RS232 Serial, and DMX input. A built-in real-time clock triggers precise timed events, including astronomical and lunar cues. Additional triggering interfaces are supported by networking using Ethernet protocols – streaming ACN (sACN) Philips KiNet™, ArtNet™, or Pathway XDMX™. But unlike any other Mosaic Controller, the MSC X includes VideoConnect – digital video output using Firewire and DVI connections to master pixel mapping on video-based fixtures.

REMOTE INPUT/OUTPUT MODULES (RIOs) Expand your reach. The Mosaic Remote Input/Output Modules (RIOs) expand the show-control capabilities of a Mosaic system, allowing lighting to respond instantly to the environment. As accessories to the Mosaic Show Controllers™ (MSCs and MTPC) and Mosaic Show Controller X (MSCX), all RIO devices employ familiar, simple, and reliable Ethernet-wiring topology with IEEE 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).
MOSAIC RIO 8/0 When you need to accept discrete triggers from third-party equipment to complete your system, choose the RIO 8/0. Featuring eight configurable Tri-Mode inputs, the RIO 8/0 accepts almost any input from the necessary equipment: digital-active high, digital-active low, or contact closure, and an integrated, bi-directional serial port (RS232/RS485). Up to 100 RIO 8/0 devices can be used in one system.
MOSAIC RIO 4/4 When you need both input triggers and control over other devices in the same location, choose the RIO 4/4. Featuring both relay outputs and configurable TriMode inputs, as well as an integrated, bi-directional serial port (RS232/RS485), the RIO 4/4 allows you to integrate with almost any third-party device. Up to 100 RIO 4/4 devices can be used in one system.
MOSAIC RIO 0/8 When you need to issue commands to third-party devices (such as buildingautomation and alarm systems, effects controllers, and automata), rely on the RIO 0/8 with eight fully isolated relay outputs, as well as an integrated, bi-directional serial port (RS232/RS485). Up to 100 RIO 0/8 devices can be used in one system.
MOSAIC RIO AUDIO When you need connections for audio input or linear timecode (SMPTE and others) and MIDI timecode input and output, you need Mosaic RIO Audio (MRIO-A). MRIO-A modules can co-exist on a network as part of a distributed system: four supported for audio input; six supported for linear timecode and MIDI.
MOSAIC RIO DALI When you need control for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) ballasts or to accept triggers from other DALI-capable control systems, Mosaic RIO DALI offers connection to a single DALI loop (up to 64 devices) for individual and DALI group scene control. Up to 12 RIO DALI devices can be used with the MSC and MTPC Controllers, while up to 64 can be used with an MSCX — that’s 4096 DALI devices. Ideal for commercial and architectural applications.

MOSAIC TPC RIO PANEL CONTROLLER The TPC-RIO interface simplifies the installation of any Mosaic Tessera control system. With line-voltage power input, it provides power and data communication for a Tessera Panel Controllers (TPC) system. The TPC-RIO delivers all of the inputs and outputs needed for the controller, allowing the TPC to interface with a lighting control system via DMX. This versatile interface also provides connections for a DALI interface, eight contact closures and bidirectional RS232 serial, creating a standalone lighting-control system with no additional setup or wiring. The TPC-RIO can also be used alongside the TPC in a larger Mosaic control system, so multiple controllers and remote devices can be included in complex installations.
LED DRIVERS Mosaic LED drivers can be used with any DMX source for direct and efficient control of LED fixtures. With options for both constant current and constant voltage, you can get the right tool to work with your power supply. The Mosaic Constant Current LED Driver (LED-C) provides six channels of LED control for constant-current fixtures. The Mosaic Constant Voltage LED Driver (LED-V) provides six channels of LED control for constant-voltage fixtures. Each can be paired with a standard power supply to power both the LED driver and the connected fixtures. LED drivers offer one power supply input and DMX in and thru, creating six discrete outputs to LED fixtures. Constant-current modules offer a variety of outputs — 350mA, 500mA and 700mA — with inputs from 15 to 48Vdc. Constant-voltage modules run 12 to 24Vdc with a maximum channel output of 40W (180W total power). These compact drivers fit any installation. They feature manual and automated addressing, fixture test modes, standard DMX protocol, support RDM configuration, and are convection cooled. These DIN-rail-mounted drivers are the perfect accessory for any Mosaic control system.

BUTTON STATIONS Button Stations (BPS) interface with any Mosaic Controller over a standard Powerover-Ethernet network. With support for up to 100 stations in a single system, button stations can be placed remotely to trigger any system action or timeline. Simple addressing using a rotary switch is provided on the rear of the station, and Mosaic Designer software is used to assign button actions and LED indicator responses. With faceplates for North America and Europe, the button stations are available in finishes of cream, white, black, or black with an aluminum bezel, to complement your décor.
ETHERNET SWITCHES The Mosaic Ethernet Switch (MSC-NET) allows for multiple Mosaic Controllers or accessories to be networked together. The MSC-NET offers five unmanaged Ethernet ports, with four ports also providing Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). The DINrail mounted switch is the perfect accessory for any Mosaic control system.
DMX/RDM OPTO-SPLITTERS The Mosaic DMX/RDM Opto-splitter (MSC-OPTO) distributes four outputs of a single DMX universe from a control system to other devices. The DIN-rail mounted splitter also supports Remote Device Management (RDM) and is the perfect accessory for any Mosaic Control System.
