Always read and understand the information and warnings in this manual before using the lifestyle stroller. • If you are unsure of any information in this manual or have a question regarding assembly or use please call customer service. Always keep this manual for reference and include it with resale of the lifestyle stroller. ASSEMBLY • An adult who has read and understands the information and warnings in the manual shall assemble this product according to manufacturer’s instructions. • Do not use the product if there are any missing or damaged parts. Do not return the product to the store. Please contact customer service at 1-800-242-6110 for assistance and replacement parts. • Dispose of all plastic bags and wrapping material immediately. • Check the assembly (i.e.: fasteners, wheels) before using the product. • Never allow children to assemble, fold, or disassemble the lifestyle stroller. CHILDREN WARNING! • Avoid serious injury from falling or sliding out. Always use the 5-point safety harness. • Never leave children unattended in or around the lifestyle stroller. • Excessive weight may cause a hazardous and unstable condition to exist. • The maximum weight capacity of the lifestyle stroller for one child is 40 lb. The weight limit for two children is 80 lb. • This lifestyle stroller is intended for children at least 6 months old and weighing up to 40 lb. • Never have more than two children in the lifestyle stroller at any time. • Never use with children that can not support their own head. • Do not place a child in the lifestyle stroller with the back of their head facing forward or their feet facing towards the rear. 1 USE WARNING! • Any load attached to the handle affects the stability of the stroller. Unstable hazardous conditions may exist if package carrying accessories are added to the product. • Parcels or accessories placed on the lifestyle stroller may cause the lifestyle stroller to become unstable. Do not place items on the stroller. Hazardous conditions may exist if package carrying accessories are added to the product. Before each use check: • The lifestyle stroller for damage. Do not use if damaged. • The tire pressure. If necessary inflate the tires to within the range shown on the tire sidewall. Always use a foot or hand pump to inflate the tires. • The fasteners are tight. Tighten if necessary. • Ensure the brakes work properly! • All loose items are removed from the passenger compartment. • Maximum weight that can be carried in the under seat basket is 10 lb. The parent/child tray is 3 lb each. During use be sure to: • Take proper steps (clothing, ventilation, hydration) to protect the child from exposure hazards such as wind chill and heat exhaustion. These hazards will have a greater impact on the less active passenger. • Only an adult who can physically control the vehicle should use the lifestyle stroller. Never allow the lifestyle stroller to be used by children as a toy. • Do not place hot liquids in the parent tray. • Do not use the lifestyle stroller with inline or roller skates. • Always maintain a safe speed. Avoid quick, sharp changes in direction, as tip-over may occur. The lifestyle stroller is not intended for use at high speeds. • Allow extra clearance for the lifestyle stroller when near curbs, parked cars, and other obstacles. The lifestyle stroller requires a wide turning radius. Do not turn sharply. • Use caution when turning on loose or uneven surfaces and when going downhill. Avoid braking suddenly. • Always engage the parking brakes when stopping, releasing the handle or loading / unloading children. • Keep the safety wrist strap on until you are sure the lifestyle stroller is completely stopped. • Do not travel over curbs, bumps or holes. • Do not pull or push the lifestyle stroller with a vehicle. 2 • Do not use the lifestyle stroller in hazardous weather or at night. • Accessories not approved by the manufacturer shall not be used. STORAGE • Use caution to avoid pinch points when folding or unfolding the lifestyle stroller. • Do not use cleaning solvents; clean only with mild soap and water. Fold or unfold the lifestyle stroller slowly using caution. Keep children clear when folding and unfolding the stroller. 1 • Ensure that all locking devices are engaged before use. ❶ Check the folding lock. If it is engaged, release it. Figure 3.1 ❷ Lift up on the stroller handle until the upper half of the frame engages with the lower half. You should hear a click. Note: Check that fabric does not get caught or pinched in between the frame sections. Figure 3.2 ❸ Test that the frame halves are locked together by pressing down on the lift handles and pulling up. If the halves stay together they are locked into place. Figure 3.1 3 Click 2 Figure 3.2 5 ATTACH THE FRONT FORK It’s easiest to attach the fork, footrest and wheels by working from the underside of the stroller. Carefully turn the stroller over before proceeding to the next steps. ❶ Insert the fork into the two fork tubes located at the front of the stroller. Figure 3.3 ❷ Push the fork in as far as it will go until the holes in both the tube and fork are aligned. ❸ Insert the short screws into the holes and tighten the screws completely. Fork tube 1 2 Fork 3 Figure 3.3 6 ATTACH THE FOOTREST ❶ Place the footrest with the post holes facing up under the fork. Figure 3.4 ❷ Insert the top set of post holes into the holes of the frame, and the bottom set of post holes into the fork. Note: The middle set of holes are not used. 1 ❸ Insert the short screws through the frame and fork holes into the footrest post holes. Completely tighten the screws. Tip! It may be easier to tighten the screws by rotating the front fork out of the way. If the front wheel is not securely locked in place it may fall off the lifestyle stroller and cause serious injury or death. Always check the front wheel is securely locked in place before use. ❶ Flip the swivel latch to the right to lock the fork in a fixed position. Figure 3.6 ❹ Close the quick release lever to the fully closed locked position. When closing the lever it should leave an imprint on your hand. The lever should have firm but not excessive pressure. ❺ Pull on the wheel to ensure it is locked in place. If necessary loosen the quick release lever and re-tighten, then re-check the wheel. Tip! Flip the swivel latch to the left to allow the wheel to swivel. 4 1 Quick release lever (in open position) Swivel latch Figure 3.6 ❷ Set the wheel into the fork, making sure the axle is properly seated. ❸ Insert each tab washer into the holes on the sides of the fork. Hand tighten the cone nut. Figure 3.7 Cone nut Tab washer 3 2 Figure 3.7 8 ATTACH THE REAR WHEELS WARNING! Rear wheels that are not securely locked in place may fall off the lifestyle stroller and cause serious injury or death. Always check the wheels are securely locked in place before use. ❶ Lift the wheel locking tab away from the wheel bracket. Figure 3.8 Wheel bracket Locking tab 1 Wheel axle 2 ❷ Insert the wheel axle into the wheel bracket as far as it will go. Brake lever ❸ Release the locking tab. Note: The pin on the locking tab should be fully inserted into the hole on the wheel bracket. ❹ Pull firmly on the wheel to ensure the locking mechanism is engaged. 3 Locking pin ❺ Repeat steps 1-4 for the opposite wheel. ❻ Carefully turn the stroller right-side up before proceeding to the next steps. Note: To remove the wheel: Lift up on the locking tab and pull the wheel out. Figure 3.8 9 ATTACH THE CHILD TRAY ARMS Important! The arms have been designed to come off the frame easily in the event too much weight is applied. To prevent breaking the tray arms during assembly do not apply weight to the child tray arms while tray is disengaged. 3 ❶ Starting with the left side of the stroller, place the tray arm with the hole in the front above the stop on the stroller frame. Figure 3.9 1 Tray arm with tray rest Tray arm with hole ❷ Press down on the tray arm tab until it snaps into place. ❸ Place the child tray arm with tray rest on the right side of the stroller, and repeat step 2. 2 Tray arm tab Stop on frame Figure 3.9 10 ATTACH THE CHILD'S TRAY ❶ Align the pin on the child tray tube with the hole in the tray arm. The pin should fit into the inset of the hole. Figure 3.10 3 ❷ Press the child tray in until it snaps into place. ❸ Rotate the child tray down onto the opposite arm until it engages into the tray lock. 2 Tray arm hole 1 Pin on tray tube Figure 3.10 11 ATTACH THE FRONT CANOPY ATTACH THE PARENT TRAY ❶ Stretch the front canopy across the front of the stroller, positioning it just above the tray arm. Figure 3.11 ❷ Align the pin inside the canopy bracket with hole in the stroller frame. ❸ Starting with one side of the canopy, press down on the canopy bracket until the pin snaps into the frame holes. Repeat this process on the opposite canopy bracket. Frame hole for canopy pin 1 2 Canopy bracket pin WARNING! Unstable items (such as: hot fluids, tall bottles, metal containers) placed in the parent tray may tip over and seriously injure the passenger. Always remove items that may tip over before using the stroller. ❶ Align the slots in the parent tray with the large pegs on the handle. Figure 3.12 ❷ Lower the tray onto the pegs and snap into place. Always properly secure the passenger with the 5-point safety harness. • It may be dangerous to leave your child unattended. Never leave your child unattended in or near the lifestyle stroller. 3 ❶ Unbuckle the shoulder straps from the center lap buckle. Note: When not in use, keep the shoulder straps buckled to the lap buckle at all times. Figure 4.1 If you need to adjust the height of the shoulder straps, you should do so now. See Adjusting the Shoulder Strap Height on the next page. 1 5 ❷ Seat the child in the center of the passenger compartment. ❸ Place the shoulder straps over the child’s shoulders with the waist belt under the child’s arms. 4 ❹ Place the lap belt buckle between the child’s legs. ❺ Clip the shoulder straps into the lap belt buckle, and adjust the shoulder straps. Important! Adjust the shoulder straps and lap buckle so they meet at the child’s stomach. 13 Figure 4.1 ADJUSTING THE SHOULDER STRAP HEIGHT ❺ Make sure the strap is properly anchored on the seat back. Repeat these steps for the opposite strap. Figure 4.6 Use these seat height slots to properly adjust the height of the shoulder straps to your child’s height. To adjust the shoulder strap height: ❶ Starting from the back of the seat, pull the shoulder strap anchor away from the seat. Figure 4.2 ❷ Insert the anchor through the slot in the seat, pushing it towards the front. Figure 4.3 ❸ Re-insert the anchor through the slit in the front of the seat at the desired height. Figure 4.4 Figure 4.6 Figure 4.2 USING THE SAFETY WRIST STRAP Figure 4.3 Figure 4.4 ❹ Pull the strap and anchor all the way through to the back. Figure 4.5 WARNING! Using the lifestyle stroller without the safety wrist strap may result in the user becoming separated from the stroller and serious injury or death to the passenger. Always use the safety wrist strap when using the lifestyle stroller. Always engage the rear parking brakes before removing the strap. ❶ Position the strap on the inside of the rear axle. ❷ Bring the two ends forward and slide the end with the large loop through the small loop. Figure 4.5 ❸ Hold the large loop and pull the strap tight to the rear axle. ❹ Place your hand through the large loop so the strap is comfortable and secure. 14 5 Using the Lifestyle Stroller USING THE MANUAL FRONT WHEEL SWIVEL LOCK USING THE PARKING BRAKE Important! The front wheel must be locked in the fixed position to use the stroller while jogging. ❶ Flip the swivel lock lever to the right to lock the wheel. Figure 5.1 ❷ Flip the swivel lock lever to the left to disengage. Important! The stroller must be completely stopped before engaging the rear brake. ❶ Step on the red levers next to the rear wheels until the cogs in the brake and wheel engage. Do this with both wheels. Figure 5.2 ❷ To release the brakes, lift the levers up with the toe of your foot until the cogs are disengaged. 1 2 1 View of swivel lock from under the footrest Figure 5.1 15 2 Figure 5.2 RECLINING THE SEAT WARNING! Improper adjustment of the 5-point safety harness when the seat is in the reclined position may result in the child slipping into the leg openings and strangulation. Always re-adjust the 5-point safety harness to the new position. 2 1 ❶ Unlatch the buckle on the back of the seat. Figure 5.3 ❷ Pull the strap down until the seat is in the desired position. ❸ Lock the strap in place by re-latching the back buckle. 3 Figure 5.3 16 USING THE CHILD TRAY WARNING! ❷ Rotate the tray up and away from the tray arm. Always remove items that may tip over before using the lifestyle stroller. Important! The child tray arms have been designed to come off the frame easily in the event too much weight is applied. To prevent breaking the tray arms do not apply weight to the child tray arms while the child tray is disengaged. ❸ To close the tray, rotate the tray down onto the tray arm until is clicks into place. 2 ❶ To open the child tray, press the red release button on the outside of the tray. Figure 5.4 3 1 Figure 5.4 17 Figure 5.6 INSERTING A CAR SEAT WARNING! • Incorrectly placing and securing the car seat may result in the seat, and child, being thrown from the stroller and cause serious injury or death. Ensure the car seat is placed correctly and secure before placing a child in it and during use. 1 • The stroller is compatible with most infant car seats including but not limited to Safety 1st, Cosco and Eddie Bauer. Do not insert an incompatible car seat in the lifestyle stroller. • Do not run or jog with an infant/car seat attached to the stroller! Before you install the car seat onto the stroller: ❶ Make sure there is proper head clearance for passengers in the front seat before using the car seat adapter in the rear seat. Figure 5.7 ❷ Fold both the red car seat tabs down towards the seat until they snap into place. Important! Red car seat tabs should be folded out when not in use. Figure 5.7 ❸ Remove the front canopy by grasping the back of the canopy bracket and pulling the canopy away from the stroller frame. 18 Attach the Car Seat Adapter Important! The car seat adapter bar must be removed when not being used to support a car seat or when a child is seated in the rear seat. ❶ Slide the left side of the car seat adapter into the left lift handle. Make sure the handle is positioned in the slot of the adapter and not underneath it. Figure 5.8 ❷ Pull the knob on the right side of the car seat adapter out and place the bracket on to the right lift handle. Figure 5.9 ❸ Release the knob and check that the car seat adapter is fully engaged by pulling up on the center bar. Lift handle Knob 2 1 Left bracket of car seat adapter Figure 5.8 19 Figure 5.9 Attach the Car Seat Straps Install the Car Seat ❶ Wrap the end of the safety strap with the metal ring around the lower frame support, with the ring on the inside. Place the strap through the metal ring. Figure 5.10 ❺ With the car seat facing towards the rear seat of the stroller, place the notch on the bottom of the car seat over the car seat adapter bar. Figure 5.11 ❷ Insert the buckle end of the strap into the slit on the bottom of the car seat strap storage pocket. Pull the strap until the full length is through the pocket. ❸ The strap can be rolled up and stored in the storage pocket. ❹ Repeat steps 1-3 for the opposite strap. 3 5 Adapter bar 2 1 Figure 5.10 Figure 5.11 20 ❻ Fold the car seat handle down (if applicable). 8 ❼ Remove the safety straps from the storage pockets located on each side of the stroller. Figure 5.12 ❽ Route each end of the safety strap up the side of the stroller, between the frame and canopy and towards the top of the car seat. Figure 5.13 ❾ After the child is placed in the seat, fasten the safety straps in the center of the car seat, and tighten the safety seat strap. Important! The car seat should not be able to move up and down. Keep children clear when folding or unfolding the stroller. • Children left in a folded stroller may incur serious injury or death. Always remove children from the passenger compartment before folding and storing the lifestyle stroller. ❹ Rotate the locking lever onto the locking pin on the side of the stroller frame. Figure 6.2 4 ❶ Position the seat completely forward. ❷ Press the folding release button on both sides of the frame. If the storage area is hot, release some air from the tires. Swivel lock lever Quick release lever Cone nut 5 1 2 4 Locking tab Figure 6.3 23 Figure 6.4 7 Maintenance Always check the following before and during use: • Ensure there is no damage, missing parts and that all parts are in good working condition. • Check that all fasteners are tight. • Check the tire pressure (psi) is correct (see rating on side of the tire). • Check the front wheel quick release is properly seated and closed sufficiently tight. • If you are unsure of the product's condition or safety call customer service before use. 8 Warranty Pacific Cycle warrants this product to be free of defective materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of original purchase. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS THE ONLY WARRANTY APPLICABLE TO THIS PRODUCT, AND IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTY. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THE EXPRESS WARRANTY.
