See table on page 7 for status LED display meanings. 8 - Windshield Camera - Forward-facing windshield camera. 9 - Cabin Camera - Rear-facing cabin camera with infrared (IR) illuminators for recording in low light. 10 - SD Card Slots - Primary and Secondary micro SD card slots. See SD Cards on page 7. 11 - Reset Button/Microphone - Use a small pointed object, such as a paper clip, to press the reset button to reset the SafeDrive HD when required. 4 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Installation Use the following procedure to install the SafeDrive HD. 1. Determine the orientation of the cradle that will be used and the location where it will be placed. • The cradle can be placed normally or upside down to accommodate different windshield inclines or applications. • Place the SafeDrive HD in the cradle and “test fit” the combined unit to ensure an optimal installation location. Make sure both cameras have an unobstructed view and the Event Button is easily accessible by the driver. Note - Do not install the SafeDrive in a location that will obstruct the driver’s view or interfere with the ability to operate the vehicle safety. 2. Thoroughly clean the windshield surface the SafeDrive HD will be mounted to with an alcohol wipe or similar product, ensuring no residue is left. 3. Remove the protective film on the high-bond tape and press the cradle firmly to the windshield surface. 4. Install the power harness into the vehicle: • Red: 12V Power • White: Ignition • Black: Ground 5. Route the cable to the SafeDrive HD’s position around the windshield and/or headliner in a manner that will not interfere with safe operation of the vehicle. 6. Connect the power harness and GPS antenna to the DC IN and GPS IN ports, respectively. 7. Insert the SafeDrive HD into the cradle as shown in the diagram, sliding it in until it clicks. 8. Adjust the Windshield and Cabin Cameras so that each has a clear view. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Wiring Diagram Security Cover After installation is complete, attach the security cover to the front of the unit as shown in the diagram, and secure it with the supplied security screw and wrench. The security cover prevents tampering with the cable connections or camera adjustments. 5 5 6 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Recording Events The SafeDrive HD can be configured to record video under the following conditions: Continuous Recording When motion is detected, the SafeDrive HD records video in a series of one to three minute (configurable) files. Once the storage capacity is reached, new files overwrite (wrap) the oldest files. Events A 30 second event (15 seconds pre-event, 15 seconds post-event) is created when the following occurs: • The event button on the front of the unit is pressed • The configured vehicle speed is exceeded • Hard braking • Sudden vehicle acceleration • Harsh vibration (accelerometer threshold is exceeded) The thresholds for speed and the acceleromter can be configured (see SafeDrive HD Viewer - Configuration). Event video files cannot be overwritten. Emergency An emergency event (15 seconds pre-event, 15 seconds post-event) is created when the optional panic foot switch is pressed. Emergency event video files cannot be overwritten. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE SD Cards Type The SafeDrive HD utilizes micro SD cards up to 128 GB in capacity. Only micro SD cards supplied by Safety Vision are authorized for use in the SafeDrive HD. Unauthorized memory cards may result in the loss of data. Contact your Account Representative for more information. Formatting For instructions on using the SafeDrive HD Viewer software to format micro SD cards, see page 22. Insertion and Removal Remove the security cover if present, pry open and rotate the micro SD card slot cover. Insert micro SD cards into the Primary and Secondary slots oriented as shown in the diagram until they click into place. To remove a micro SD card, press the card until it clicks, then allow it to spring out. Primary and Secondary The SafeDrive HD records all data to the Primary micro SD card. When the Normal folder reaches capacity, video continues to be recorded on the Seconday micro SD card. When the Secondary micro SD card reaches capacity, the eariliest recorded video in the Normal folder on the Primary is overwritten (wrapped) 7 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE 8 Status LEDs Use the following table to determine the operating status of the SafeDrive HD. Start the .exe program and follow the prompts to install PC Manager. (You may be prompted to install “Visual C++”. This is normal.) When Installation Complete is displayed, open the SafeDriveHD program. 9 Micro SD Memory 40MB/s (Class 10) or higher / MLC type 10 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE SafeDrive HD Viewer - Video Playback 1 - Front View - Double-click to open a larger display window. 2 - Cabin View - Double-click to open a larger display window. 3 - Map/Third Camera - Click and drag to view the surrounding area, scroll to zoom in and out. Click the arrow icon in the upper right to open the map in a new window and display the third camera view. 4 - G-Sensor Graph - Double-click to open a larger display window. 5 - Speed Graph - Double-click to open a larger display window. 6 - Video Files - Displays the available video files in the currently selected folder. Double-click a file to begin playback. Select from different file types at the top: All, Emergency, Event, or Park type video, or click on the magnifying lens icon to search for a specific file. 7 - Speed Display - Click the speed unit display to toggle between unit type. 8 - Playback Control - Click the Loop button to display a slider that allows you to loop a specific video segment repeatedly. Use the knob control to increase or decrease playback speed. Click the small arrow icon above the knob control to advance the video forward one frame at a time. 9 - Audio Volume 10 - Functions and Features - See next page. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Open File - Click this button and navigate to the SD card (or folder where you have previously saved video). Available files are then displayed in Video Files. Save Image - Click to save a still image snapshot of the currently displayed video frame in .jpg format. Print Report - Click to generate an easily printable driving report. The report contains still images of both cameras and the map from when the Driving Report button was clicked. Configuration - See page 13. Flip and Mirror Image - Click these buttons to flip the camera images up and down or left to right. Image Zoom - Click this button to display the Zoom window. Mouse over the portion of video frame you wish to zoom in on. Delete File - Select video files by selecting the boxes to the right of the file name. Click the Delete File button to delete them to Trash. Save Video - Select video files by selecting the boxes to the right of the file name. Click the Save File button to save them to a local location. Settings Info - Click this button to display information about the vehicle, SafeDrive HD firmware version, and SafeDrive HD Viewer software version. Map Selection - Select the map provider for your region. Log Convert - Export the log file in .bin format. AVI Convert - Export the currently open file into a .avi format that can be accessed with commonly available media players. 11 12 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE OSD Layout 1 - Timestamp - Displayed in YYY:MM:DD-HH:MM:SS format. 2 - Camera View 3 - Speed 4 - G-Sensor Sum 5 - G-Sensor Axis Values 6 - GPS Coordinates 7 - Vehicle Number 8 - Driver Name 9 - Company Name SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE SafeDrive HD Viewer Configuration Click the System Configuration icon to display the Setting window with configuration settings. The configuration settings are broken down into nine tabs. After changing any settings, click Save to save them to the .cfg file on the micro SD card. Clicking Close without first clicking Save will result in lost settings. The .cfg file can be copied to multiple micro SD cards to copy the same configuration settings to multiple SafeDrive HD units. The .cfg file must be saved to the root directory of the micro SD card inserted into the Primary slot. To load a .cfg file from a stored location, click the Copy from .cfg button and navigate to the file. Click the Default button on any Setting window tab to restore the factory default settings. Record • 3 Channel Mode - Select On, Off, or Auto. When set to Auto, the SafeDrive HD will automatically detect when an optional third camera is connected. • Video Quality - Select Normal or High. High quality video may consume more storage space. • Normal Video FPS - Select the frames per second (FPS) of normal continuously recorded video. • Event Video FPS - Select the FPS of video recorded during an event. To conserve storage space, consider a lower FPS setting for normal video, and a higher FPS for event video. • Motion Recording Mode - Select On to enable Sleep mode. In Sleep mode, the SafeDrive HD starts recording automatically when motion is detected. • Audio Recording - Select On or Off to enable or disable cabin audio recording, respectively. • Front Camera Flip - Select On to invert the front windshield camera’s image. • In-Cabin Camera Flip - Select On to invert the cabin camera’s image. • Rear Camera Reverse - Select On to invert the optional third camera’s image. • Speed Unit - Select the default units speed is measured in. • Recording Time (Normal) - Select the number of minutes, up to 3, each segment of Normal video is recorded in. • Recording Time (Event) - Select the number of seconds, up to 15 seconds each, to record both before and after an Event video is triggered. 13 14 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Event • Emergency Overwrite - Select Enable to allow the newest Event video files to overwrite the oldest Event files when storage capacity is reached. • G-Sensor Sensitivity - Select between 1 and 8 Gs. When the selected number of Gs is exceeded, an event is triggered. • Driving Speed Limit - Select Use and enter a speed which once exceeded, will automatically trigger an event. • Sudden Accel. - Select Use and enter a speed which, when increased in under .5 seconds, triggers an event. The minimum suggested value is 10. • Sudden Brake - Select Use and enter a speed which, when decreased in under .5 seconds, triggers an event. The minimum suggested value is 10. • Output Event - Select On to output a signal via the micro USB port to an optional external device when an event occurs. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Time • Time Zone - Select the primary timezone the SafeDrive HD operates in. • Day Light Saving Time - Enable or disable Day Light Savings Time. • Time Record - Select UTC (coordinated universal time, or GMT) or RTC (regional [local]). This is time which video files are labelled by. • Video Overlay Time - Select UTC (coordinated universal time, or GMT) or RTC (regional [local]). This is time displayed on the onscreen display. 15 16 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE User Settings Enter the following agency-defined fields for each SafeDrive HD: • Company Name • Vehicle Name • Vehicle Number • Driver Name Playback Security Enter a User ID and Password in their respective fields and click Save to lock video files recorded by this SafeDrive HD unit. These credentials will then be required to view, delete, or otherwise manipulate video files. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Storage Select the percentage allotted to each type of recorded data. The minimum suggested allotment for Event files is 35%. *Memory Storage Selection and Backup Copy features are under development at this time. 17 18 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Network Select the Network Use option to display Network window options. When configuring the SafeDrive HD for use with with an active wireless network with the optional WiFi Adapter, enter the following: • Wi-Fi AP Name • Wi-Fi Password • IP address of the Local Backup Monitor in the IP Address in Backup PC field. For more information, see the Wireless Backup section. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE LBP (Low Battery Protection) • Power Cut Voltage - Select 11.8, 12, 23.7, or 24 volts. If the SafeDrive HD receives a voltage lower than the selected threshold, it automatically turns off as configured by the Power Cut Timer field. • Power Cut Timer - Select Immediately, or select Time Setting and enter a time, in minutes, after which the SafeDrive HD turns off. When using Wireless Backup, ensure there is enough time between when the vehicle is turned off and the SafeDrive HD’s power cut. The SafeDrive HD will only download video after vehicle ignition is turned off. 19 20 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE GNSS Global Navigation on Satellite System • Static Hold - Under development • GNSS Satellite Selection - Select the satellite for the region in which the SafeDrive HD will operate in. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Etc • Voice Guide - Select On to enable an audible voice notification during statup and recording. • Vehicle Info Overlay - Select the video channels that the on-screen display information (OSD) appears on. • Overlay Font Size - Select large or small OSD text. • Reverse gear signal use - Select Monitor Display to automatically display the third camera on an external monitor when reverse gear is selected. Select Trigger signal to trigger an event when reverse gear is selected. • On TV Color Systems - Select NTSC or PAL. • Video-out Mode - Select which video channels appear on the optional external monitor. • Front Cam LED - Select if the Front LED always blinks, or only when an event is recorded. • In-Cabin LED - Enable or disable the in-cabin status LED. 21 22 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Formatting SD Cards Click the SD Format button at the bottom of the Configuration Setting window to begin formatting the currently read micro SD card. CAUTION - Formatting a micro SD card erases all data, including recorded video. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Wireless Backup The Wireless Backup feature requires the Wireless LAN Adapter and other wireless equipment. Contact your Account Executive or Safety Vision Technical Support to discuss wireless downloading options. Installation 1. Obtain the “Wi-Fi Backup center” .exe installation file 2. 3. 4. 5. from Safety Vision and start it. The installation wizard begins automatically. When the installation wizard requests an Installation Location, enter the pathway to where the files will be downloaded in the Destination Folder field. Complete the Local Backup Setup installation. Start the Local Backup Monitor application and click Start. Check the Windows system tray to ensure that the Local Backup Monitor application is running In the SafeDrive HD configuration: 6. Ensure the IP address displayed in Local Backup Monitor is the same as is entered in the SafeDrive HD’s configuration on the Network tab. 7. Ensure there is enough time to allow files to download in the LBP tab. Ensure there is enough time between when the vehicle is turned off and the SafeDrive HD’s power cut in the Power Cut field. The SafeDrive HD will only download video after vehicle ignition is turned off. 8. Save the configuration file (setup.cfg) to the micro SD card by clicking the Save button. 23 24 SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Wireless Backup Operation 1. Ensure the Local Backup Monitor is started. The Local Backup Monitor needs to be restarted manually each time the PC has restarted. 2. Once the vehicle’s ignition is turned off, the SafeDrive HD begins downloading files automatically when connected to the wireless network. A folder for each SafeDrive HD unit, labelled by serial number, appears automatically in the location designated in Local Backup Monitor. Files selected in the Target Copy Folder field appear in separate folders. SAFEDRIVE HD USER GUIDE Updating the Firmware Use the following procedure to update the SafeDrive HD’s firmware. 1. Obtain the firmware update file from Safety Vision Technical Support. This file might need to be unzipped first. 2. Copy the update file to a blank, properly formatted micro SD card. • For FAT32 formatted SD cards, place the update files in the root directory. • For EXFAT formatted micro SD cards, place the ACA_ app.img file in a folder entitled update. 3. Remove power from the SafeDrive HD. 4. Remove any recording storage micro SD cards and insert the update micro SD card into the Primary slot. 5. Apply power to the SafeDrive HD. The unit powers on, and then the GPS status LED (blue) blinks while updating. CAUTION - DO NOT remove power while the firmware is updating. Only remove power after the process is complete. Firmware updates using an EXFAT formatted micro SD may take less time. After the update is complete the SafeDrive HD reboots and powers on automatically (all status LEDs on). 6. When the SafeDrive HD begins recording (recording status LED [green] is blinking), remove power. The SafeDrive HD’s firmware is now updated. 7. Remove the update micro SD card and replace the recording storage micro SD cards. 8. Apply power to the SafeDrive HD. To verify the correct firmware is installed, used the SafeDrive HD Viewer software to review recorded video.
