SALES ENGINEER Automation & Control Durban This position reports to: DIVISIONAL MANAGER (AUTOMATION & CONTROL)
The Purpose: The Sales Engineer is accountable to the Divisional Manager with regards to all his/her functions. It is the responsibility of the Title Holder to ensure that he / she is familiar with the contents of this document.
Responsibilities: The Sales Engineer carries the total responsibility for the allocated sales budget Responsible for sales of Automation Systems and Products Drawing up a sales forecast spanning a three-month period Responsible for client contact lists, capturing of project and product sale opportunities and forecasting Constantly monitor opposition pricing and product enhancements and report back the Divisional Manager Promotional campaigns together with Marketing and Product Management Assist with any customer related problems and enquiries Maximise profitable order input across the product portfolio Develop potential business within the area To form relationships with customers and contacts to enable maximum business potential to be realised Communicate market intelligence obtained in the area to the Divisional Manager Maintain expertise across the rage of products and systems Achieve prescribed sales budget for the financial year Give correct information to the Divisional Manager secretary to update customer data base regularly Adhering to discount structures Recommendation and assist with implementation of promotions and exhibitions and social events etc. Hold or facilitate training sessions, seminars etc., with our customers in order to enhance the knowledge of, consultants, end users etc. with regard to the application and sales features of our products Complete a master customer call plan / weekly call plan Qualifications & Experience: N5 or Better Extensive knowledge of industrial automation products Extensive knowledge of a Sales and Marketing Strategy and Budget Working knowledge of providing internal and external training as well as presentations and workshops 5 years’ external sales experience in automation systems and products Attributes: Self-motivated, ambitious and career orientated Problem solving skills and team player Work well under pressure Attention to details – essential Client contact in the sales and marketing environment is very important
