Instructions for use with Samsung ML-1640 and ML-2240 printers. The toner cartridge for your Samsung ML-1640 or ML-2240 comes complete with a ‘chip’ on it. However, depending on your printer’s firmware version it may be necessary to change this chip for the one in the enclosed envelope. You can verify the firmware version by printing a test page. Please do this before changing the toner. To print a test page Press and hold the Cancel button for 3 seconds until the lights on the printer flash. The test page will now be printed automaticaly. Use the pre-installed green chip for OS version 1.xx.xx.83 and lower. Use the red chip (enclosed in this envelop) for OS version 1.xx.xx.96 and newer.
To change the chip Step 1: Leave the orange protection caps on the toner. Step 2: You’ll find the chip in a small ‘enclosure’. Shift the chip to the side by using a small knife or screwdriver, then grab the chip and take it off the toner. Step 3: Place the red chip in the same enclosure and press down to click into place. Step 4: Shake the toner, remove the orange protection cap and pull out the strip. Install the toner in your printer.
