SanAngeloIndoorSoccerRules - Page 1 of 3 RULES OF THE GAME The following rules have been designed to ensure fair play for all participants. Each player is expected to understand these rules prior to their participation in the league. Any questions concerning these rules should be directed to San Angelo Indoor Soccer. Teams will be placed into divisions based upon age, gender and playing experience. San Angelo Indoor Soccer may also combine leagues. Any team or player determined by the Tournament Director to have falsified age or skill level will be dismissed from the league. Teams are responsible for signing up in the appropriate division; teams which have any competitive experience should sign up for the competitive division. For teams placing themselves in the wrong division, San Angelo Indoor Soccer will attempt to rectify the error, but cannot guarantee proper placement.
Schedule Changes: It is the responsibility of the coach or team captain to check the league schedule for any changes after the league games begin. Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship is to prevail at all times. Coaches will be held responsible for the conduct of themselves, their players, players’ parents and spectators.
Number of Players: Six is the maximum number of players on a team (teams may add players over six players at an additional $25 per player fee): three field players and three substitutes. (A team must have a minimum of 2 field players). Players may only play on one team per division. There are no goalkeepers in 3v3. Coed teams must have a minimum of one female player on the field at all times (this only applies to adult teams). Teams that have only one female will forfeit their remaining games if the female participant is no longer able to participate.
Player Registration: All players must be registered prior to their first scheduled game time. Teams cannot add players after their third game has been started. League officials have the right to demand proof of age for any player included on the roster. Players are required to carry proof of age with them at all times during the season. All teams must hand in a San Angelo Indoor Soccer waiver form to the staff prior to their first game or they will be disqualified from playing in the league.
Falsifying Ages: A team, player or coach determined by the San Angelo Indoor Soccer Staff to have falsified age, identity, or skill level will be dismissed from the league; and potentially future events. This act of sportsmanship will not be tolerated.
Skill Level: Teams are placed in divisions based on their players’ competitive experience. Teams that have one or more players with any competitive experience will be bracketed in the competitive division. In effect, if a team qualifies before they play competitive soccer than they will play in the division they have qualified.
Proof of Age: All participants must provide proof of age if asked by a San Angelo Indoor Soccer Staff (players and coaches are required to have their proof of age at all times).
Age of Participants: The age group of each team is determined by the birth date of the oldest player on the roster. Coed Rules: A coed team consists of a combination of male and female players. During play, there must be at least one female player on the field at all times. Coed teams are allowed to play in Male Divisions, in this case the standard coed rules do not apply.
Uniforms/Protective Casts: All players must wear jerseys/shirts during play and each team must bring both a light and dark colored jersey/shirt. If both teams are wearing the same color, HOME Team must wear alternate color if both teams are the same jersey color. San Angelo Indoor Soccer Staff and/or referee must approve players wearing protective casts. If the referee on the field of play deems a player’s protective cast is unsafe in any way, the player will not be allowed to play until re-prove the wearing of the protective cast. No jewelry will be allowed, including earrings of any type, rope necklaces and bracelets. The only exception will be players wearing medical bracelets. No Gum is allowed on the playing field or in the player’s boxes.
League Equipment: All players must wear shin guards. Any player without shin guards will not be allowed to play. No Cleats. Players must wear Indoor Shoes, Turf Shoes or Tennis Shoes on the playing field. No outside Soccer Balls are permitted in San Angelo Indoor Soccer Facility.
Field Dimensions: The playing field is 85 feet long by 50 feet wide. The Goal Box: There is no ball contact allowed within the goal box or on the yellow goal box lines, however, all players may pass through the goal box as long as they do not touch the ball while in the box. If the ball comes to a rest on the goal box, only defensive players may touch and gain possession of the ball or if play stops, a goal kick is awarded regardless of who touched the ball last. Any part of the ball or player’s body on the line or inside the plane of the box is considered in the goal box and an extension of such. If a defensive player touches the ball after it has entered the plane, a goal will be awarded to the offensive team unless the ball is not on goal or is going to roll past the outside of the goal. Referee has final decision. If an offensive player touches the ball after it has entered the plane, a goal kick will be awarded to the defensive team. The plane of the goal box extends upward.
Goal Scoring: A goal may only be scored from a touch (offensive or defensive) within the scoring team’s offensive half on the field. The ball must be completely on the offensive half of the field, and cannot be touching the mid-line (Example: kick-off). If a player in their defensive half kicks the ball across the midline and the ball hits another player (offensive or defensive) and the ball goes in the goal, a goal will be awarded. If a ball is kicked from the defensive half and is not touched before the ball rests in the goal, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team.
Game Duration: The game shall consist of two 15-minute halves separated by a three minute halftime period. The team defending the north goal (Concession Stand Side) will determine direction and possession before the start of the game and is considered the Home Team. Games tied after regulation play shall end in a tie, except in the playoffs. There are no timeouts and the Game Clock does not stop in 3v3 games. The referee has the official time on the field and holds the right to take necessary action if he/she feels that a team is delaying the game. In the event that a field is behind schedule, the referee may shorten the halftime period to one minute, or limit warm-up time prior to game.
SanAngeloIndoorSoccer – Page 2 of 3 Forfeits: Teams are given five minutes before a forfeit is issued by the referee. One goal will be awarded to the opposing team at the 2 minute mark and a second goal at the 4 minute mark. At the 5 minute mark, the game is considered a forfeit. All forfeits must be approved by the 3v3 Referee before the game is considered an official forfeit. San Angelo Indoor Soccer has the option to replay a forfeited game if deemed necessary. Any team forfeiting a game during the playoffs will not have the option to reschedule the game unless San Angelo Indoor Soccer deems it necessary. San Angelo Indoor Soccer has the final decision on any rescheduling of forfeit games.
Substitution: Substitutions may be made at any time during play, regardless of possession. The substituting player leaving the field of play must be completely off the field of play before the substitute player enters the field of play. Players in violation of this rule will receive a blue card and the player’s team will play one player (violating player) down for a period of 2 minutes. The referee will determine when the 2 minute penalty time has expired and has final decision on when the penalty time starts and ends.
Delay of Game: Any player may be cautioned with a yellow card if it is deemed by the referee that the player is intentionally wasting time .e.g.: if a player intentionally kicks the ball long distances away from the playing field in order to waste time. This also includes players standing over or in front of a ball while the opposing team is attempting to put the ball into play after a stoppage. The referee may also issue the player or team a blue card without prior warning for delaying a game.
Playoff Overtime: Shall consist of a 5-minute overtime play with NO “golden goal”. Overtime period with a coin toss to decide kick-off/direction. If teams are still tied after the first overtime, then teams will play a second overtime that shall consist of the “golden goal” rule. The first team to score in the second overtime is the winner.
Off-sides: No Off-sides in 3v3 Soccer! Slide Tackling: No Slide Tackling or Sliding: If a player is sliding a free kick shall be awarded. If a player slides and contact is initiated, a free kick shall be awarded, a blue, yellow or red card given to the player committing the slide (at the discretion of the referee). This also prevents a player from sliding to stop/intercept a ball.
Hand Ball Clarification: Deliberate handling of the ball that denies a team of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity will result in the following: (1) A penalty kick (at the discretion of the referee) (2) A blue, yellow or red card given to the player committing the hand ball (at the discretion of the referee). (3) A goal, if the player has broken the defending goal plain of the penalty area (at the discretion of the referee).
Cautioned Players (Yellow Card): Players that receive two yellow cards in one game will result in a red card. (Please see red card rule). Player Ejection (Red Card): Referee’s have the right to eject a player or coach from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants sending off. The team may then continue with their remaining players, however, if the player receiving the red card was on the field of play, the team must complete the entire half of play in which the red card was issued a player short (if there is less than 2 minutes left in the first half, the team will play a player down the remainder of the first half and the first two minutes of the second half. Referee has final decision on time and when the time of the red card will be enforced). The player receiving the red card will automatically be suspended for their next game (no exceptions). Players or coaches that are red carded must leave the immediate playing area, including the fan and team areas. If the player delays or refuses to leave, the game will be forfeited in favor of opposing team (regardless of the score at the time of the incident). Teams that receive a red card by a player or coach not on the field of play will play a player down for a period of 2 minutes. **If players are red carded for fighting, they will be ejected from the league and must leave the San Angelo Indoor Soccer facility for the duration of the season. Fighting will also result in a one year suspension of play from any San Angelo Indoor Soccer events or leagues.
Coach/Parent Ejection: Referees have the right to eject a coach or parent from any game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants ejection. Coaches or parents whom are ejected by the referee or San Angelo Indoor Soccer Staff official must leave the San Angelo Indoor Soccer Facility before play will continue. If a coach or parent refuses to leave, the game will be forfeited in favor of the opposing team.
Kick Off: May be taken in any direction. You cannot score directly from a kick off (ball must be 100% over the mid-line to be considered on the offensive half of the field). This is an indirect kick.
Kick-Ins: The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of thrown in. The ball is considered in play when the ball is touched and changes position. This is an indirect kick.
Six Foot Rule: In all dead-ball situations, defending players must stand at least six feet away from the ball. If the defensive player’s goal is closer than six feet, the ball shall be played six feet from the goal box in line with the direction of play prior to the penalty.
Direct & Indirect Kicks: All dead-ball kicks (kick-ins, kick-offs, free kicks) are indirect. (All Penalty Kicks are direct kicks) Indirect kicks must only change position before the ball will be considered in play.
Goal Kicks: May be taken from any location inside the goal crease area. This is an indirect kick. Penalty Kicks: Shall be awarded if, in the referee’s opinion, a scoring opportunity was nullified by an infraction (the infraction does not automatically result in a red card). Penalty kicks are direct kicks taken from the center of the mid-line with all players (on both teams) behind the mid-line. Penalty kicks are dead ball infractions. If a goal is not scored, the ball is in play or defense obtains possession with a goal kick if the ball goes out of play. Once a penalty kick is taken, it is a live ball and players may play the ball before it reaches the goal area. A player taking a penalty kick may only touch the ball once unless it is touched by another player after he or she has taken their touch.
