The last decade has witnessed a rapid evolution of no-touch plumbing systems. INTERSAN's passive body heat detection system represents a culmination of years of searching for the ideal hands-off plumbing activation system. INTERSAN has developed a Master Control Unit which can control a multitude of heat sensors, solenoid valves and timers simultaneously. A unique patented system
Independent functioning for 8 years
Common active detection systems utilize an emitter that generates signals such as infrared or ultrasonic signals, which are reflected back to a receiver. INTERSAN's detection system is passive : no signals are emitted. The system is waiting in a quiescent state until the sensor detects a human hand in its broad detection area.
Three-dimensional detection field
INTERSAN utilizes optical lenses to delineate the expanded detection field of the passive system in terms of width, length and height. The detection field is self-adjusting in that it adapts itself to the contours of the plumbing fixture. The result is a broad user-friendly detection area, ideal for use by people with disabilities as well. In addition, the precision design of the detection field prevents possible activation by passers-by.
Battery-operation = longevity of 8 years !
The INTERSAN passive detection system consumes minimal amounts of energy : it does not emit a powerdraining signal, and only the finest solid state technology with energy-saving components is used. A long-life lithium battery-pack provides the Master Control Unit and the electromagnetic valves sufficient power for approximately eight years.
Maximum water-saving
The Master Control Unit, energized by a lithium battery-pack (longevity of 8 years !), registers pulses from the heat-sensors, analyzes these according to the factory set flow cycle, and accordingly determines whether or not to open or close the appropriate solenoid valves.
Easy operation and accessibility, ideal for people with disabilities
Hands-free operation
The passive detection system is the ideal solution for hand washing facilities which are often a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. Users should no longer be worried about unsanitary conditions ; the hands-free operation of water and soap prevents contact with soiled and/or contaminated fixtures.
Electronic hands-free water supply systems are water-conserving in design and function. Through precise micro-processor control, and through the use of accurate flow regulators, both the duration and the volume of water spent is controlled, thus offering maximum water-savings without sacrificing user convenience. To satisfy the most divergent applications INTERSAN developed three major types of electronic washfountains.

Operation
Maximum hygiene and minimal maintenance
Easy, one trade installation
The Master Control Unit registers inputsignals from the appropriate heat-sensors, analyzes these according to the factory set flow cycle, and accordingly generates an output-signal that is transmitted to a timing-device unit and/or to the control section of the solenoid valves. The Master Control Unit is preprogrammed to automatically open or close valves and/or change timers depending on the application requirements. As the passive detection system functions on human warmth, it is unaffected by skin color, darkness, sunlight, noise or foreign objects. Hands-off water and soap operation
Through the hands-free operation of water and soap, users no longer have to worry about the risk of infections and/or the spread of germs that may arise from contact with the fixtures. Optimal sanitary accommodations remain guaranteed at all times. Minimal maintenance
The use of quality engineered electronic and mechanical components coupled with a 8 year lithium battery-pack results in minimal maintenance needs over the life of the washfountain. Through the parabolic shape of the bowl, the waste water drains off directly. These self-draining and self-cleaning aspects keep a Sanispray® bowl clean and hygienic. To allow for easy cleaning and drying of the Sanispray ® , a cleaning function is available in option. This option provides the washfountains to be placed, either manually or via a remote control device, in a mode where all the valves remain closed for a period of time of 2 minutes. A final hold off of 3 seconds terminates the function and makes the washfountain fully operational again. One trade installation : easy and economical
For rapid and flexible installation of supplies and drains, all Sanispray® washfountains are equipped with stainless steel
flexible supply lines, stop ball valves with integral strainers and with a flexible drain. All electronic components are pre-assembled requiring no field installation. The lithium batteries serve as the only power source thus limiting installation to the plumber. No electricians are needed for costly connections of wiring and transformers ; electrical inspections are not required. Neither are masonry or dry wall modifications nor are repairs that typically result from the installation of electrical wiring and/or connections. Vandal-resistant
The Sanispray® electronic washfountains are hands-free operated, and consequently do not contain handles to entice potential vandals. The Master Control Unit, battery-pack and solenoid valves are integrated into the washfountain and secured by a vandal-resistant fastening system. The heat sensors as well as the spraynozzles are of the vandal-resistant type. Unlimited applications
The concept of the Sanispray® electronic washfountains lends itself to a wide range of applications. In schools and universities, for example, they are appreciated for the friendly but resolute means of water-conservation and for the significant resistance against potential vandalism. 'MAXI-SPRAY'-Operation
When a user places his or her hands underneath one of the individual nozzles, the water flow is initiated. Since the 'MAXI-SPRAY' operation was conceived for thorough washing, the water remains flowing as long as required. Only when the sensor detects the withdrawal of the hands for a period of time will the Master Control Unit initiate a signal to cease the water flow. As each individual nozzle has its own sensor, solenoid valve and timing device system, it functions independently from all the other sensors, valves and timers connected to the Master Control Unit. The optional MAXI-SPRAY electronic liquid soap dispenser is designed to meet all requirements for thorough washing of hands with soap. Its objective is to give its user - whenever he wants - as much soap as required. To accomplish this, a separate soap dispensing system has been set up with its own sensors, solenoid valves, etc.

Our battery-powered electronic washfountains, similar to solar powered equipment, consume very little energy. Additionally, these MINI-SPRAY washfountains specifically were conceived to give their users maximal convenience with the smallest possible amount of water.

'MINI-SPRAY'-Operation
As an option, the Sanispray® electronic washfountains can be equipped with a junior pedestal. After all, our electronic systems are so easy in operation that even the smallest child can use them without any problem.

As soon as a user presents his or her hands underneath one of the individual nozzles, the water starts flowing from it. Then, after a fixed minimal period of water flow, the valve is closed when hands are withdrawn from the detection area. If the user remains present for more than 30 seconds, the Master Control Unit automatically interrupts the ongoing washing-cycle. An interval of 2 seconds is programmed between 2 cycles. Each individual nozzle has its own sensor, solenoid valve and timing device system and thus functions independently from all other sensors, valves and timers connected to the Master Control Unit. As an option, the MINI-SPRAY washfountains can be equipped with an electronic liquid soap dispenser.The functioning of this system is hygienical, economical, simple and yet fully efficient : before the water starts flowing, the user 'automatically' gets a shot of liquid soap.

The MINI-SPRAY electronic washfountains were primarily developed for places where water conservation is a key issue and/or places where risk of water/soap wastage or vandalism is important. Also, everybody who attaches importance to good hygiene and a sanitary environment will benefit from the use of MINI-SPRAY washfountains. Operation
Option : Soap dispenser
As soon as a user places his or her hands in the detection area of one of the individual sensors, the collective sprayring starts spraying water all around the washfountain. Once activated, the water flow continues until all users have departed from the washfountain. To prevent water wastage, however, the Master Control Unit closes the solenoid valve of the collective sprayring when only one person is present at the washfountain for an overly long period of time.
A liquid soap dispenser with liquid soap valves can be mounted on top of the sprayhead.
Characteristics
The electronic washfountain HI-TRAFFIC is ideal for common collective washfountain applications, including but not limited to washrooms that are highly frequented by large groups of people simultaneaously, in which case they offer the most economical and practical solution. Such restrooms include those of factories, locker rooms, arenas, stadiums, etc. : INTERSAN brings the electronic age to traditional group washing environments.
• minimal water consumption : The collective washfountains have a water-saving sprayhead and a built-in automatic flow control regulator, resulting in considerable water conservation when compared to an identical quantity of individual nozzles. The electronic flow control regulation system makes sure that water only flows when needed, and prevents wastage and abuse. • optimal user convenience : The collective control system consists of a number of individual sensors with their own detection field, which are connected to one single solenoid valve and a central control system. Intersan offers a variety of installation packages specifically tailored to individual installation needs and requirements. ➊
WATER SUPPLY:
❹ Optionally, INTERSAN individual electronic washfountains can be equipped with no-touch liquid soap dispensers. The liquid soap dispensing system is mounted within the sprayhead. The soap is packed in bags containing 0.26 gal. to be placed in the plastic container for maximal safety. This system is designed to make the substitution of the soap bags and maintenance of the soap system easy. ➎ INTERSAN Sanispray ® washfountains can be furnished with stainless steel top supply shrouds and towel dispenser assemblies.
Flexible braided stainless steel supply lines can be furnished which make the connection of the water supply lines very easy, and quick.

INTERSAN offers a convenient sturdy PVC drain connector that allows for easy connection to the drain pipe. Using the flexible stainless steel supply lines, the cast iron four-way P-Trap and the flexible drain connector ensures that the Sanispray® washfountain can be easily installed regardless as to whether the supplies and connections are furnished from the ceiling, wall or floor. Optionally, an INTERSAN electronic washfountain can be furnished with a thermostatic mixing valve. The heavy duty industrial thermostatic mixing valve helps ensure accurate and efficient temperature control. A single supply for cold water or premixed water is available as standard equipment.

Maximum water conservation Washfountains combine several lavatories into a single unit that incorporates a watersaving sprayhead and/or sprayring design. With the electronic Sanispray® washfountains, it provides maximum water conservation because water only flows under control of an electronic circuit. Minimal energy consumption An incorporated lithium battery-pack supplies the washfountains with sufficient power to operate for 8 years at 4000 uses/month.
Barrier free The electronic washfountains comply with stringent US and European regulations presented by ATBCB and ANSI. Easy installation The washfountains only require a single plumbing connection versus multiple connections for individual lavatories. INTERSAN’s washfountains offer the advantage of being preplumbed, further benefiting the installer. The electronic installation is limited to connecting the battery-pack, thus guaranteeing one trade installation. Space savings Washfountains take up significantly less space than lavatories of equal capacity. Additionally, their installation is very flexible in that different models exist to be used in freestanding, wall or corner configurations.
Maintenance friendly The self-draining aspects of the bowl, the No-Touch control system, the use of durable mechanical and solid state electronic components, the longevity of the battery-pack etc. are all features that contribute to a high-quality product that requires minimal maintenance. Vandal resistant The Sanispray® electronic washfountains are hands-free operated and do not contain handles to entice potential vandals. Thereby, all components are integrated into the washfountain secured by a fastening system.
