1. Introduction Thank you for purchasing the Studiomaster Professional Sat Series, Active Reference Monitors. To ensure maximum performance and safety, please follow this instruction manual carefully. Please retain this manual for future reference. For any complaint, feedback or testimonials please contact our distributor / dealers. The Studiomaster Professional Sat series is a range of high quality active reference monitors. The series consist of Sāt 5 & Sāt 10S. The Sat series strikes a right balance between the growing demands for better monitor performance at more realistic prices. • •
Sāt 5: Ultra Linear Full Range Monitor Speaker. Sāt 10S: Punchy Powered Subwoofer.
This active monitor set has a flat frequency response with a very natural and transparent sound. The speakers are bi-amplified and have an integrated electronic crossover for lower Signal to Noise Ratio & Total Harmonic Distortion. Sāt in Sanskrit means ‘the absolute truth’! In the same essence the Studiomaster Professional Sāt Series is designed to reveal absolute truth of your mixes!

1. Power Input: Connect the supplied power cord to the unit & make sure the right power is being supplied. As an additional safety measure please use a stabilizer like the Studiomaster Professional SVC series, to protect the product from spikes & surges. 2.On/Off: This switch is used to on or off the speaker. 3
3. Input Connectors: There are 3 input options available on the Sāt 5, Balanced TRS/XLR & Unbalanced RCA input connectors. Connect output from your mixer in to one of these inputs. Audio Input (10K ? Balanced) Pin 3 + Ring = Low

4. Volume Control: This knob is used to control the output level of each speaker. The input sensitivity can be adjusted (counterclockwise reduces sensitivity) with this rear panel mounted system gain control. Adjustment range is from -30dB to + 6dB (Sat 5) & -80dB to + 6dB (Sāt 10S), which should suffice for most conditions. 5. HF Adjustment: This knob is used to control the high frequency adjustment of this speaker. Room acoustics may dictate which type of adjustment you need to make to retain a flat frequency response from the monitor. (Only Available In Sāt 5) 6. Crossover: This knob adjusts the crossover frequency for the built-in 24dB/octave variable crossover. The crossover frequency can be adjusted from 50Hz to 150Hz. Frequencies below the crossover frequency are sent to the sub-woofer. 7. Auto Power: If set to the AUTO position the subwoofer will go into STANDBY mode (mute) if Idle for more than 45 minutes it resumes working immediately after an input signal is received. If set to the ON position it will be on constantly, & the OFF position allows you to use the subwoofers power switch manually. 8. Phase Switch: This switch reverses the polarity of the signal going to the subwoofer amplifier by 180°. It has no effect on the signal at the Left & Right out or the Master out. There is no right or wrong setting for this switch. Listen to the overall blend of the subwoofer with the rest of the system, and select the switch position that gives you the best sound. 9. Peak LED: The Peak LED will illuminate if the input channels are being overloaded or distorted. 4

5. Speaker Placement Positioning your monitors correctly in the studio is critical to their performance. Typically, they should be placed so that the listening position is fully “covered” with all monitors resting on the same horizontal plane. A great way to test a monitor for its imaging capability is to play back a CD or DVD recorded acoustically in stereo (or one recorded in surround sound if you have a surround sound set up). We recommend acoustic music because it represents the spectrum of sound. You can adjust the angle of each monitor by listening for dead spots. Keep in mind, changing the angle or position of a monitor will change the sound.
