SatLink SkySwitch VoIP Technology for Rural Telephony SatLink® SkySwitch™ is a complete solution for rural wire-line telephony sites for up to 96 locally switched 2-wire analog lines. Full supplementary services are delivered using modern VoIP technology. A SatLink SkySwitch VoIP network supports SIP and H.323 protocols to establish call connections between VoIP endpoints. Connected phone terminals may be a combination of payphones, PCOs, residential and business lines at distances up to 5000 meters. The switch unit may be installed indoors or mounted with the SatLink modem/controller and other equipment (WiFi, SatLink GSM BTS/BSS equipment, etc.) to form all-outdoor VSAT ground station providing wireline and wirleless voice and data services. The outdoor enclosure is IP-55 rated and may be pole or roof mounted with SatLink antenna and transceiver. This enables service to rural areas that lack suitable indoor space for carrier equipment. (See photograph on reverse side). SatLink SkySwitch is a member of a family of SatLink products and systems from STM enabling scalable, high-availability DVB-RCS networks optimized for Internet Protocol (IP) communications, including: VSATs, turnkey hub and gateway systems, hub components, and valueadded options for advanced data, voice and video networking via satellite. STM is the technology and market leader in DVB-RCS satellite networks delivering superior performance for telecom service providers, ISPs, governments and enterprises around the world. STM also offers teleport services, installation and integration services, plus total managed network services.
Features & Benefits ● Rugged Outdoor Package - IP55 Rated SatLink SkySwitch is offered in a single, integrated package, specifically built for harsh outdoor environments. The baseband equipment of the SkySwitch system fits within a compact rack that can be mounted either to the wall or antenna pole, along with the antenna, BUC and LNB.
● Complete Integration Call switching is integrated with advanced satellite ground station equipment, allowing single-hop direct connections to high-traffic gateways in multiple cities.
● Internet Access The local IP packet switching fabric and router in each ground station, along with IP-optimized satellite backhaul in the SkySwitch solution, allows for easy and costeffective roll-out of essential Internet access services.
● Low Power Consumption The SkySwitch package has low power consumption, enabling the use of solar panels and batteries for extended back-up times.
● Remote Operation The configuration, monitoring and control of SkySwitch are all done remotely from the SatLink NMS. External alarms are available so that equipment integrity and its surroundings may be monitored.
● Technology Advanced software-based switching using VoIP is employed to deliver modern features at much lower costs than traditional circuit switched networks. Plus, voice codecs are highly optimized, and the transport of VoIP packets occurs over satellite, gaining maximum bandwidth efficiency without sacrificing voice quality.
● Multiple Services SkySwitch offers full supplementary services for residential and business subscriber lines, with support for calling cards and pre-paid calling. Public Calling Offices (PCO) and payphone installations are easily deployed.
● Call Detail Record (CDR) A Call Detail Record (CDR) is generated for every call, including the ones staying within the same community.
