Procedure Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as: Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Scion dealer for a copy of this document.
1. Vehicle Protection. Wrench, 10mm Socket
Negative Battery Terminal
(a) Confirm you have all required parts before starting. (1) Hardware Kit (PT546-00141) is required. (2) Conversion Harness Kit (PT54600142) is required. (b) Protect the fender before starting.

(c) Remove the negative battery cable (Fig. 1-1). (1) Do not touch the positive terminal with any tool when removing cable. (d) Check kit contents.
2. Disassembly of Vehicle. NOTE: Place all removed parts on a protected surface. NOTE: When disconnecting wiring connectors do NOT pull on the wiring, pull on the connector only. NOTE: Engage the parking brake while working.

Procedure (a) Remove the center cluster (Fig. 2-1).

(1) Pull the cluster forward, and disengage the clips at seven locations, and both hooks. (2) Remove the cable connector(s).

(b) Remove the 4 screws to remove the radio brackets (R) and (L) from the interior panel (Fig. 2-2).

(c) Remove the tape securing the audio harnesses (Fig. 2-3).

Procedure 3. Install Protective Sheet

(a) Cut the protection sheet into two 100mm by 70mm pieces as shown in the illustration. (Fig. 3-1).

(b) Measure and cut out the two dotted sections on each sheet shown in Fig. 3-2 to get the shape as shown in Fig. 3-3.

(c) Remove the tape liner and fold the tape over on the adhesive side as shown so that the exposed adhesive is only at the two ends. (Fig. 3-3) Adhesive ends Fig. 3-3
(d) Cut the butyl tape. (1) Cut 4 pieces of 10mm by 50mm butyl tape, as shown in the illustration. (Fig. 3-4). Fig. 3-4

Procedure Butyl tape attached to protection sheet adhesive ends.
(e) Attach two pieces of the butyl tape to the adhesive ends of each protection sheet. (Fig. 3-5) (1) Remove the tape liner on one side of the butyl tape before attaching it to each of the adhesive ends.

(f) Clean the surfaces of the attachment areas on the left and right reinforcement brackets with a VDC approved cleaner as shown. (Fig. 3-6)

(g) Remove the liners from the butyl tape and attach each protection sheet to the left and right bracket edges as shown in the illustration. (Fig. 3-6) (1) The protection tape should wrap around both the top and bottom bracket edges for each side. (2) The tape should adhere to the top surface of the top bracket and the bottom surface of the bottom bracket for each side.

4. Installing the Radio.

(a) Attach the two radio brackets (L) and (R) to the radio using six of the eight bolts provided in the kit (Fig. 4-1).

(b) Connect each conversion harness to the vehicle harness. (Fig. 4-2)
Connect this end to the radio
(1) Note: The vehicle harnesses connect to the connectors on the conversion harness side with the foam around them.

(2) Connect the four conversion harness connectors and the vehicle audio harness connector to the back of the radio. (Fig. 4-3 and 4-4)

CAUTION: The clock harness uses a similar 12-pin connector as the radio. It is possible to connect the clock connector into AVC-LAN connector of the radio by mistake. The result will blow the dome fuse.

(c) Install the radio to the instrument panel.

(1) Make sure the clock harness is not connected to the head unit or trapped behind it.

(2) Fasten the radio brackets four screws removed in Step 2(b). (Fig. 4-5).

5. In Process Function Test.

(a) Temporarily connect negative battery terminal. If required, install the 15A DOME fuse. (b) Turn ignition switch to the ACC position. (c) Connect the USB flash drive media to the vehicle’s USB/AUX connector near the cup holder. (Fig. 5-1)

(d) Select USB mode by pressing the “source” button on the touch display screen, then selecting the USB mode (Fig. 5-2) (e) Confirm song plays. (f) Remove flash drive from USB connector.

Procedure 6. BT Microphone check. (a) Press the setup menu button. (b) If the guidance menu is available, the microphone is connected. (Fig. 6-1) (c) Turn the ignition key off. (d) Remove the negative battery cable. Fig. 6-1

(b) Complete the reassembly of the vehicle. (1) Reconnect any disconnected connectors. CAUTION: The clock harness uses a similar 12-pin connector as the radio. It is possible to connect the clock connector into AVC-LAN connector of the radio by mistake. The result will blow the dome fuse.

(2) Verify the panels fit together properly with no uneven gaps between them. (c) Clean up and remove any trash. (d) Reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable (Fig. 7-1). (1) Position the negative cable at original factory position. (2) Tighten the nut to 5.4 N•m. (48 lbf•in).

8. For DIO installations, set the vehicle sound setting to the correct vehicle. (a) Press the setup menu button. (Fig. 8-1) (b) Press the system button. (Fig. 8-1) (c) Under vehicle setting, select “xD” and press save. (Fig. 8-2)
