Sealed with quality and efficiency
Sealing systems perform various functions. Raven seals can effectively enhance the safety and comfort of interior environments by helping to reduce the infiltration of noise, fire, smoke, water and contribute to saving energy. Acoustic – noise One of the most common functions of door seals is to help reduce the amount of sound that passes through a doorset. Raven Acoustic Seals act as a barrier to airborne sounds, and ensure that the acoustic attenuation provided by a doorset is equivalent to the wall or partition it is installed in. Tested in accordance with AS1191 (EN ISO 140.3) and rated to AS 1276.1 (EN ISO 717.1) by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), the seals help to ‘isolate’ buildings from external noise generated by its surrounding infrastructure and amenities including roads, railways, airports, plants, theatres and cinemas. Safety – fire and smoke Many building regulations mandate that fire doors are required for the safety of a building’s occupants. They also stipulate the level of fire resistance they should provide. Raven produces a number of smoke seals, including intumescent seals, that can be used together with a fire door, to meet the different requirements. Optimum performance can be achieved by combining the use of appropriate Raven adjustable frame seals, stile seals, automatic or sweep door bottom seals with standard solid core and fire rated doors. The smoke leakage performance of the seals have been tested to AS 1530.7, ISO 5925-1 and EN 1634-3. 154
Energy efficiency – weather Weather seals prevent the ingress of draughts and rainwater through external doors. Raven produces a variety of seals that will meet the most demanding weather conditions. In such cases, a threshold plate should be used together with a door bottom seal. The thermal efficiency of a building is of major importance. Air-conditioning and heating requirements can be optimised through the installation of Raven seals. Most Raven seals can reduce heat loss through a door and improve comfort levels by eliminating cold draughts. In addition, they provide ‘resistance’ against dust, insects, rodents and wind-blown embers in areas prone to bush fires. Apart from increasing the safety and comfort levels of its occupants, the seals are expected to reduce energy use by up to 15 percent.
