SCOPE OF WORK A.
This section includes the minimum requirements for cabinets, racks, frames and enclosures in data centers, computer rooms, and communications equipment rooms.

Included in this section are the minimum composition requirements and installation methods for the following: 1.

QUALITY ASSURANCE A.
All cable and equipment shall be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner. All methods of construction that are not specifically described or indicated in the contract documents shall be subject to the control and approval of the Owner or Owner Representative. Equipment and materials shall be of the quality and manufacture indicated. The equipment specified is based upon the acceptable manufacturers listed. Where “approved equal” is stated, equipment shall be equivalent in every way to that of the equipment specified and subject to approval.
B.
Strictly adhere to all Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) and Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) recommended installation practices when installing communications/data cabling.

PART 2 – PRODUCTS 2.1
CABINETS A.
Free-standing Equipment Cabinets (CPI GF-Series GlobalFrame Gen 2 Cabinet) 1. [Cabinets] Provide freestanding equipment cabinets to store computer, data storage, networking and security equipment in the data centers, computer rooms and equipment rooms. Each cabinet enclosure shall have a rectangular frame and removable top panel, side panels and doors. Installed cabinets shall include thermal, power, and cable management accessories that control airflow through the cabinet and keep network and power cables separate and organized. 2. [Cabinet Frame: choose a or b.] a. [6-Slide Cabinet Frame] The cabinet frame shall be manufactured from steel and aluminum with welded and bolted frame construction. The front and rear of the cabinet shall be welded rectangular frames. The sides of the cabinet shall have six slides, two at the top, two at the middle and two at the bottom. The slides shall be extruded aluminum supports formed with integral .53”W (13.5 mm) x .25”D (6.4 mm) T-slots to create front-to-rear tracks that accept drop-in hardware and allow quick attachment and easy depth adjustment of equipment mounting rails and thermal, cable and power management accessories. Each slide shall have three T-slots (one top, two on the side) to provide attachment points on the top and inside of the slides. The T-slots on the top surfaces of the extruded aluminum slides at the top of the frame shall be accessible from the top exterior of the cabinet and provide a structural mounting surface for roof mounted accessories. The T-slots shall provide a fully bonded connection between internal and external mounted accessories without the need of surface preparation. The six slides shall be bolted to the front and rear frames. The cabinet frame shall include leveling feet and casters and label seals to cover any openings in the frame.

Six slide cabinet frames shall support 3000 lb (1360 kg) of equipment when supported on leveling feet and secured to the structural floor. The cabinet frame shall support up to 2250 lb (1020 kg) of equipment when moved while supported on casters. The cabinet shall be 79.4” (2016 mm) high by 23.6” (600 mm) wide by 51.2” (1300 mm) deep when casters, doors and side panels are installed. The cabinet frame is 47.2” (1200 mm) deep without doors. b. [4-Slide Cabinet Frame] The cabinet frame shall be manufactured from steel and aluminum with welded and bolted frame construction. The front and rear of the cabinet shall be welded rectangular frames. The sides of the cabinet shall have four slides, two at the top and two at the bottom. Four slide cabinet frames shall support 2500 lb (1134 kg) of equipment when supported on leveling feet and secured to the structural floor. The cabinet frame shall support up to 2000 lb (907.2 kg) of equipment when moved while supported on casters. The cabinet shall be 79.4” (2016 mm) high by 23.6” (600 mm) wide by 51.2” (1300 mm) deep when casters, doors and side panels are installed. The cabinet frame is 47.2” (1200 mm) deep without doors. Change cabinet width, depth and height to match job requirements. Refer to the GlobalFrame Data Sheet to see all GlobalFrame options. Note that GlobalFrame can be ordered with or without side panels. Cabinet Heights: 79.4” (2016 mm) with 42U mounting rails, 84.6” (2149 mm) with 45U mounting rails, 89.9” (2282 mm) with 48U mounting rails; height includes casters, The number of rack-mount units (U) (2.1.A.3) changes when cabinet height changes. Cabinet Widths: 23.6” (600 mm), 27.6” (700 mm), 29.5” (750 mm), 31.5” (800 mm), all 19”EIA. Note: 29.5” (750 mm) is not available 52U, 800 mm or 1000 mm D, or 4-slide. Cabinet Depths (with doors): 35.4” (900 mm), 43.3” (1100 mm), 45.3” (1150 mm), 47.3” (1200 mm), or 51.2” (1300 mm); and corresponding Frame Depths (no doors): 31.5” (800 mm), 39.4” (1000 mm), 41.3” (1050 mm), 43.3” (1100 mm), or 47.2” (1200 mm); Maximum Rail Depth (2.1.A.3) changes when cabinet/frame depth changes.
3. [Equipment Mounting Rails: choose a or b.] a. [Equipment Mounting Rails, 6-Slide Frame] Each cabinet shall include two pairs of equipment mounting rails. Mounting rails shall bolt to the side supports (slides) located near the top, middle and bottom of the frame and shall be fully adjustable in depth to provide front and rear

support for equipment. Equipment Mounting Rails shall be spaced horizontally to support 19” (482.6 mm) wide EIA/ECA-310-E compliant rack-mount equipment and shall provide up to 45.1” (1145 mm) of rail-torail depth for equipment. Mounting rails shall be square-punched according to the EIA/ECA-310-E Universal hole pattern with equipment mounting holes on alternating 5/8” – 5/8” – 1/2“ (15.9 mm – 15.9 mm – 12.7 mm) vertical hole centers. Square-punched holes shall accept cage nut hardware with various threads. Rack mount spaces or units (U) shall be 1-3/4” (44.45 mm) high and shall be marked and numbered on the mounting rails. Numbering shall start at the bottom of the rail. Mounting rails shall provide 42U for equipment. The mounting rails shall be fully bonded to the frame without wiring. Wide surface mounting rails will support 19” (482.6 mm) wide EIA/ECA-310-E compliant rack-mount equipment without the need for panel adapters or spacers. Wide surface mounting rails will each provide four 5.5”H x 2.0”W (140 mm x 51 mm) clearance holes for front to rear cabling. Front to rear pass throughs will accept optional cable grommets that facilitate a front to rear pathway, protect cabling from cuts or abrasion, and maintain an airflow barrier between the front and rear surfaces of the rail. b. [Equipment Mounting Rails, 4-Slide Frame] Each cabinet shall include two pairs of equipment mounting rails. Mounting rails shall bolt to the side supports (slides) located near the top and bottom of the frame and shall be fully adjustable in depth to provide front and rear support for equipment. Equipment Mounting Rails shall be spaced horizontally to support 19” (482.6 mm) wide EIA/ECA-310-E compliant rack-mount equipment and shall provide up to 45.1” (1145 mm) of rail-to-rail depth for equipment. U (Height): 42U mounting rails in 79.4”H (2016 mm) cabinet, 45U mounting rails in 84.6”H (2149 mm) cabinet, 48U mounting rails in 89.9”H (2282 mm) cabinet, 52U mounting rails in 96.9”H (2460 mm) cabinet; cabinet height includes caster; cabinet height (2.1.A.2) changes when U changes.
4. [Top Panel] Choose one top panel [a., b. or c.] a. [Standard Cabinet] The cabinet shall include a solid top panel with four cable openings, one in each corner. Each opening shall be 4.5”W x 9.0”D (114 mm x 228 mm). Each opening shall include a snap on plastic

cover that can be cut to pass cables. The top panel shall feature tool-less removal. b. [Vertical Exhaust Duct, 20”-34”H] The cabinet shall include a solid top panel and a rectangular Vertical Exhaust Duct that is 20” (508 mm) high and extends up to 34” (863 mm) high. The top panel shall have two cable openings in the front corners. Each opening shall be 4.5”W x 9.0”D (114 mm x 228 mm). Each opening shall include a snap on plastic cover that can be cut to pass cables. The Vertical Exhaust Duct shall allow infinite adjustment between 20” (508 mm) and 34” (863 mm) height, and shall include a flexible seal at the top to help prevent hot exhaust air from escaping the space between the duct and the drop ceiling. The cabinet shall also include a bottom panel with two covered cable openings in the back corners and a seal between the rear door and the frame to help capture hot air and guide it to the Vertical Exhaust Duct.

This top panel is only available for 47.3”D (1200 mm) and 51.2”D (1300 mm) cabinets [43.3”D (1100 mm) and 47.2”D (1200 mm) frames] and must be used with a Perforated Front Door and a Solid Rear Door.
[Vertical Exhaust Duct, 34”-60”H] The cabinet shall include a solid top panel and a rectangular Vertical Exhaust Duct that is 34” (863 mm) high and extends up to 60” (1523 mm) high. The top panel shall have two cable openings in the front corners. Each opening shall be 4.5”W x 9.0”D (114 mm x 228 mm). Each opening shall include a snap on plastic cover that can be cut to pass cables. The Vertical Exhaust Duct shall allow infinite adjustment between 34” (863 mm) and 60” (1523 mm) height, and shall include a flexible seal at the top to help prevent hot exhaust air from escaping the space between the duct and the drop ceiling. The cabinet shall also include a bottom panel with two covered cable openings in the back corners and a seal between the rear door and the frame to help capture hot air and guide it to the Vertical Exhaust Duct. This top panel is only available for 47.3”D (1200 mm) and 51.2”D (1300 mm) cabinets [43.3”D (1100 mm) and 47.2”D (1200 mm) frames] and must be used with a Solid Rear Door.
5. [Side Panels: Choose a. or b. to match frame style, c. to omit] a. [Side Panels, 6-Slide Frame] The cabinet shall include two half-height, solid side panels. Each side panel shall have a keyed latch located at the top center of the panel for easy installation and removal. Side panel latches shall not occlude the mounting surface of accessories. b. [Side Panels, 4-Slide Frame] The cabinet shall include two solid side panels. Each side panel will be formed as a half-height panel. The top panel will rest on top of the bottom panel so that the panels stack to form a single panel when installed. Each side panel shall have a single keyed latch located at the top center of the top half-height panel for easy installation and removal. Side panel latches shall not occlude the mounting surface of accessories. c. [Side Panels] The cabinet will not include side panels. Choose one or two or no side panels. Cabinets of the same height and depth can be bayed side-by-side with one, two or no solid side panels in between cabinets. When bayed to match 24” wide (610 mm) raised access floor tiles, there will be an approximate .4” (10 mm) gap between cabinets, include side panels on both cabinets and use Thermal Management Accessories to fill the gap
6. [Front Door] The cabinet shall include a single curved perforated metal front door with quick-release hinge pins. The primary door panel shall be constructed using a single perforated sheet (78% open at perforation) with a solid outer perimeter. The primary door panel shall be embossed with a 4.6” (117 mm) diameter concave feature along the entire vertical height and

include a protruding logo badge. The door shall be removable and reversible to open from the right or left. The front door shall have a swing handle with a single-point cam latch and a keyed lock. 7. [Rear Door: Choose one rear door: a or b., use b. with duct top] a. [Rear Door with Standard Top Panel] The cabinet shall include a double (vertically split) perforated metal rear door with quick-release hinge pins. Each door panel shall be constructed using a single perforated sheet (78% open at perforation) with a solid outer perimeter. The doors shall be removable. The double rear door shall have a swing handle with a two-point latch and a keyed lock. b. [Rear Door with Vertical Exhaust Duct Top Panel] The cabinet shall include a single solid metal rear door with quick-release hinge pins. Each door panel shall be constructed using a single solid sheet. The door shall be removable and reversible to open from the right or left. The rear door shall have a perimeter seal that blocks airflow between the door and the cabinet frame and a swing handle with a single-point latch and a keyed lock. Choose the Rear Door style to match the top panel style. Note that there are specific front/rear door combinations. Cabinets with Standard Top Panels use a curved perforated metal front door and a double perforated rear door. Cabinets with Vertical Exhaust Ducts must use a curved perforated metal front door and a single solid metal rear door.
8. [Material/Construction] The front and rear of the cabinet frame, mounting rails, top panel, side panels and doors shall be manufactured from steel. The cabinet side supports/slides shall be manufactured from aluminum extrusion. Covers for cable openings shall be plastic. The front and rear of the cabinet shall be welded rectangular frames. The front and rear cabinet frames, mounting rail supports, mounting rails, doors and side panels shall assemble with hardware. 9. [Grounding/Bonding] The mounting rails, top panel, side panels and doors shall be electrically bonded to the cabinet frame. The cabinet frame shall have a prepared location for attaching a grounding lug at the top and bottom of the frame. All internal and external accessory mounting tracks shall provide a bonding path to the main cabinet ground without the need for additional surface preparation. 10. [PDU Mounting Brackets] The cabinet shall include one pair of PDU mounting brackets. The brackets shall be L-shaped, shall attach to the rear right or left corner of the cabinet frame and shall include tool-less mounting points for two vertical rack-mount power distribution units (PDUs) or power strips. Tool-less mounting points will be spaced vertically 64.75” (1645 mm) apart. The brackets will support two 2.2” (56 mm) wide or narrower PDUs or power strips side-by-side or one 4.5” (114 mm) wide PDU. The brackets will orient the PDUs/power strips so that the outlets on the PDUs/power strips face the center of the cabinet frame. The brackets will occupy no more than 4.6” (117 mm) of space in the rear corner of the cabinet. 11. [Certifications] The cabinet shall be UL Listed under the NWIN category as an Audio/Video, Information and Communications Technology Equipment Cabinet, Enclosure and Rack Systems using the requirements in UL 2416. 12. [Color/Finish] The cabinet frame, top panel, side panels, mounting rails and doors shall be painted Glacier White or Black with epoxy-polyester hybrid

powder coat paint. Plastic components, hinges and door handles shall be black. 13. [Included Hardware] The cabinet shall include (4) casters, (4) leveling feet, (4) floor attachment brackets and a baying kit. The manufacturer of the cabinet shall sell compatible equipment mounting hardware as an accessory. 14. [Packaging] The cabinet shall ship on a shock pallet with reusable carton so that it can be shipped to a factory integration site to be loaded with equipment, then repackaged and shipped to the data center for installation. The shock pallet shall be rated for 2,000 lb (907.2 kg) of payload excluding the cabinet weight. Strike Item 14 [Packaging] when not using a cabinet with a shock pallet (P/Ns GF-XXXX3-XB).

Other sizes are available. Select one cabinet description. Refer to the GlobalFrame Gen 2 Data Sheet for additional sizes and part numbers. Change dimensions, colors and configurations to match job requirements. Strike part numbers that do not apply.
B.
Thermal Management Accessories 1. [General Requirements] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with additional thermal management accessories that prevent the mixing of hot and cold air within the cabinet and bypass airflow through or around the cabinet. Thermal management accessories may include any combination of Air Dam, Bottom Panel, Equipment Rail Grommet Kit, Snap-In Filler Panels, Label Seal Kit, Air Director, Grommet-Sealed Side Panels and Baying Seal Kits. If integrated into an Aisle Containment Solution, the cabinet will also include Floor Seal Kits. 2. [Air Dam] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with an internal airflow baffle to block airflow around the sides and top of equipment in the cabinet. The baffle shall adjust in depth with the equipment mounting rails and shall include a flexible seal against the side panels. The airflow baffle shall seal the space at the front of the cabinet between the equipment mounting rails and the sides and top of the cabinet enclosure. 3. [Bottom Panel] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with a bottom panel to block airflow through the opening at the bottom of the cabinet frame. The bottom panel shall be solid with two cable openings in the back corners. Each opening shall be 4.5”W x 9.0”D (114 mm x 228 mm). Each opening shall include a snap on plastic cover that can be cut to pass cables. The bottom panel and airflow baffles shall form a complete seal around the equipment mounting rails to block front/rear bypass airflow around the rails.

4. [Equipment Rail Grommet Kit] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with snap-in plastic covers over any cable openings in the equipment mounting rails to block airflow through the cable openings. 5. [Snap-In Filler Panels] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with filler (blanking) panels that seal any open rack-mount unit space (spaces not occupied by other equipment). The filler (blanking) panels shall be made of plastic and shall be designed to attach to square-punched equipment mounting rails without hardware. The filler (blanking) panel design shall allow the panels to be installed and removed from the equipment mounting rails without tools. Panels shall be sized to fit 1U x 19”EIA and 2U x 19”EIA rackmount panel spaces. 6. [Label Seal Kit] All openings in the cabinet frame shall be covered with adhesive backed, color matched, plastic labels. 7. [Air Director] Each installed cabinet with a Vertical Exhaust Duct top panel that supports a heat load in excess of 15 kW shall be equipped with a baffle that directs airflow from the bottom, rear of the cabinet towards the top of the cabinet. The baffle will attach to the rear horizontal member on the cabinet frame and will be narrower than the equipment mounting rails allowing rails to be positioned alongside the baffle. 8. [Grommet-Sealed Side Panels] Each installed cabinet shall include a side panel with grommet sealed cable openings to allow cables to exit or enter the side of the cabinet while preventing hot exhaust air from escaping the cabinet. The side panel shall include two half height solid side panels with a locking latch. Each half-height panel shall have four openings; one opening in each corner. Each opening shall be 9.0”H x 4.5”W (228 mm x 114 mm). Each opening shall include a snap on plastic cover that can be cut to pass cables. 9. [Baying Seal Kits] Provide a front and rear plastic snap-in cover for the gap left between 23.6” (600 mm) wide cabinets when bayed centered over 24” (610 mm) wide raised access floor tiles. 10. [Floor Seal Kits] When used within a contained aisle, each installed cabinet shall be equipped with a bottom seal to block airflow under the cabinet. B. Cable Management Accessories 1. [General Requirements] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with additional cable management accessories that provide a specific vertical and front-to-rear pathway for cables and manage cable slack. Install and align one vertical cable manager with the cable openings in the top and/or bottom panel so that cable is supported as it enters or exits the cabinet. Install and align additional vertical cable managers, as required. Install a front-to-rear manager between the front and rear equipment mounting rails in wider cabinets to provide a front-to-rear pathway for cables, if required. 2. [Finger Cable Manager] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with a vertical cable manager to organize network cables. The vertical cable manager shall attach to the side of the equipment mounting rail in the cabinet. The vertical cable manager shall have cable openings along the side that align with each rackmount unit (U) space on the mounting rail. In 23.6” (600 mm) wide cabinets, the openings shall be sized to allow 24 patch cords to enter each rack-mount unit (U) space. In 27.6” (700 mm) wide cabinets, 29.5” (750 mm) wide cabinets, and 31.5” (800 mm) wide cabinets, the openings shall be sized to allow 48 patch cords to enter each rack-mount unit (U) space. The cable openings shall be separated by plastic T-shaped cable guides to route cables into each space. Hinged covers shall be included with managers in wider cabinets. 3. [Ring Cable Manager] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with a ring cable manager to store network cables. In cabinets with 6-slide frames, the ring cable manager shall be a pair of half-height metal brackets each with four plastic Drings for securing cables. In cabinets with 4-slide frames, the ring cable manager shall be a single full-height metal bracket with eight plastic D-rings for securing cables. The ring cable manager shall attach in a vertical orientation to the slides on the side of the cabinet frame and shall adjust in depth independent of the equipment mounting rails. 4. [Cable Lashing Bracket] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with a cable lashing bracket to secure network cables. In cabinets with 6-slide frames, the cable lashing bracket shall include two half-height brackets. In cabinets with 4slide frames, the cable lashing bracket shall include one full-height bracket. Each racket will be 1.6” (41 mm) wide with one vertical column of attachment points for securing cable bundles with Velcro straps or tie-wraps. The cable lashing bracket shall attach in a vertical orientation to the slides on the side of the cabinet frame and shall adjust in depth independent of the equipment mounting rails. 5. [Front-to-Rear Cable Manager] Each installed cabinet shall be equipped with a front-to-rear cable trough to support cables horizontally between the front and rear equipment mounting rails in the space along the side of the cabinet. The front-to-rear cable trough shall be a minimum of 2” (50 mm) wide and shall extend to attach to equipment mounting rails spaced 22” (558 mm) to 34” (863 mm) apart. 6. A. Free-standing Equipment Cabinets (CPI GF-Series GlobalFrame Gen 2 Cabinet) 1. Provide all components of the cabinet system (cabinet, cable, thermal, cable and power management accessories) from a single manufacturer. 2. Install and adjust to position all cabinet/frame accessories including thermal management accessories, vertical cable managers, vertical power managers and equipment-mounting rails, using the manufacturer’s installation instructions prior to baying and/or placing the cabinet for attachment to the building and before installing any rack-mount equipment into the cabinet. Shelves, horizontal cable managers and filler panels (rack-mount accessories), if used, may be installed after the cabinet is placed. 3. When attached to the structural floor, the installer shall provide installation hardware. 4. When used in a multi-cabinet bay, cabinets shall be attached side-by-side using included baying kits according to the manufacturer’s instructions. 5. Attach overhead ladder rack or cable tray to the ceiling or the top of the cabinet. A 3” (75 mm) minimum clearance between the top of the cabinet and the bottom of the ladder rack/cable tray shall be maintained. Ladder rack/cable tray shall be positioned so that it does not interfere with hot air exhaust through the cabinet’s top panel. Use radius drops where cable enters/exits the ladder rack/cable tray. Note: Seismic installations require additional bracing of cabinets and overhead cable runways to building structure as advised by and certified by a licensed structural engineer. 6. Cabinets shall be securely bonded to the Telecommunications Grounding Busbar (TGB). Attach a bonding conductor sized as defined in J-STD-607-A and as defined by local code or the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) between the Telecommunications Grounding Busbar and the cabinet. Attach the bonding conductor to the cabinet using a ground terminal block according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions. The installer shall provide the bonding conductor and other necessary hardware required to make the connections between the cabinet and the Telecommunications Grounding Busbar.
