It describes the necessary steps of the analysis and the basic process. Please note that the preparation, depending on the technical specification of the existing system, should start well before the actual migration, since delivery times may have to be considered for hardware components. The SeeTec support team can be contacted before migrating complex installations (eg logistics, CIT, etc.) Further applicable documents - SeeTec Cayuga R5 Read me: https://www.seetec.eu/fileadmin/01DL/6.5.1/SeeTec_Cayuga_R5_ReadMe.txt - Manual Cayuga R5 (English): https://www.seetec.eu/fileadmin/01DL/6.5.1/SeeTec_Cayuga_R5_Manual_EN.pdf - SeeTec Cayuga R5 Supported Devices (PDF): https://www.seetec.eu/fileadmin/01DL/6.5.1/SeeTec_Cayuga_R5_Supported_3rd_Party_Interfaces.pdf Preparation Important: The migration from SeeTec 5.4.x to SeeTec Cayuga R5 may require hardware and / or operating system modifications or replacement of hardware components. Therefore SeeTec strongly recommends analysing the existing system well before the actual date of migration. Page 3 Recommended steps      Get an overview of changes and innovations in Cayuga R5 by consulting the SeeTec Cayuga R5 Read me. Make sure that you have a valid license for Cayuga R5. Capture the specification of the existing server and client hardware and compare it with the requirements as described in the Manual Cayuga R5 in chapter "System requirements". Ensure that all hardware components are equipped with an operating system supported by SeeTec Cayuga. See Manual Cayuga R5 in chapter "System requirements". Note that some graphics cards which are used in SeeTec 5.4.x, are not suitable for use with SeeTec Cayuga because they do not or only partially support DirectX. These include according to the current level of experience: o Matrox graphic boards. o Nvidia Quadro NVS 290 or 420. Minimum requirements for graphics cards: o RAM: 2GB. o Support of DirectX 9 o Connection via PCI Express On-board graphic adapter or shared memory cards are unsuitable. Suitable graphics cards at current level of experience:  ATI Radeon HD 5450; 2GB RAM for dual display use.  ATI Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition Eyefinity 6, 2GB for up to 6 displays.    Important: SeeTec Cayuga R5 is based on an advanced software architecture, in response to technological progress. For this reason, it is possible that 32bit clients reach their physical limits early. SeeTec recommends a 64bit operating system for data-intensive clients in order to enable the use of the SeeTec 64bit client. If in doubt contact our support. Ensure that any device of the configuration is listed in the document SeeTec Cayuga R5 Supported devices (PDF) and check the supported functionality. Capture the functionalities that are used in the current SeeTec 5.4.x system and check whether all are available for the key functions in SeeTec Cayuga R5. Use the SeeTec Cayuga feature delta list for comparison. This step defines the appropriate timing for the migration. Page 4 General Instructions for Installation    The split between ExpansionPackage and CorePackage no longer exists. There is only one target directory: The installer will install all program components to C: \ Program Files \ SeeTec. A Migration over the SeeTec Update Server is not possible Before you install   A direct upgrade is possible from SeeTec 5.4.0. onwards. Older SeeTec installations must therefore be updated to SeeTec 5.4.x. Note the SeeTec5/Cayuga compatibility matrix later in this document. A backup of MaxDB and the configuration directory is recommended!  See Chapter migration process in this document. Migration process if HW and operating system already meet the requirements 1. For Microsoft Windows Server 2012 only: Check if the Windows feature „Desktop Experience“ is installed (for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 this is done automatically). If not follow the steps: Server Manager = > Manage => Add Roles and Features => Features => User Interfaces and Infrastructure (Installed) = > Desktop Experience => Add Features => Next = > Install. 2. Create a backup of the Management database ( MaxDB ) and save the conf - directory a. In SeeTec Administration (Start Menu -> Programs -> SeeTec5 ) change to Management database ( MaxDB ) and create a backup using the Backup-Button. The backup will normally be stored in C:\Program Files\SeeTec\SAPDB\backup b. The conf - directory is located in: C:\Program Files\SeeTec\conf 3. Uninstall SeeTec 5.x via the Windows Control Panel a. Folder structure remains b. Database remains 4. Install SeeTec Cayuga R5 5. New license must be installed! Page 5 Migration process if you are migrating to new hardware and / or new operating system Existing System: 1. Make sure that the SeeTec version of the existing system is at least 5.4.0. If not, upgrade the existing system to the latest version 5.4.x. 2. Create a backup of the Management database ( MaxDB ) (without conf - directory) on the existing system. a. In SeeTec Administration (Start Menu -> Programs -> SeeTec5 ) change to Management database ( MaxDB ) and create a backup using the Backup-Button. The backup will normally be stored in C:\Program Files\SeeTec\SAPDB\backup New System: 1. For Microsoft Windows Server 2012 only: Check if the Windows feature „Desktop Experience“ is installed (for Microsoft Windows Server 2008, this is done automatically). If not follow the steps: Server Manager = > Manage => Add Roles and Features => Features => User Interfaces and Infrastructure (Installed) = > Desktop Experience => Add Features => Next = > Install. 2. Install SeeTec Cayuga R5 3. Start the SeeTec Administration Tool (Start Menu -> Programs -> SeeTec Cayuga) on the newly installed Cayuga R5 system and restore the backup of the existing system under Management database (MaxDB). Please note that the backup must be available locally and must not be unpacked! 4. New license must be installed! Page 6 After the Installation         All users except the administrator are disabled. The administrator's password is reset to „pass“. The passwords of all other users must be reassigned during activation. The services SeeTec5_ENT, SeeTec5_EVT, SeeTec5_AUTH, SeeTec5_ALARM and SeeTec5_EXT will be migrated to ONE service called VMS_CORE. So there is only one log file core.log and only one configuration file core.conf.xml All services are now starting with „VMS_ „. Indication of the storage volume is no longer possible at camera configuration / image storage. It can only be configured for time limit. Cameras, for which a storage volume was configured, will have a time limit set to 9999 days. The configuration of the services AvExport and Gateway service should be checked after the migration in the SeeTec VA Administration Tool, as the configuration of SeeTec 5 is not taken over. Server-side analytics configurations, such as Object Video or SeeTec motion detection should be checked and recalibrated if necessary.
