INTRODUCTION Optical devices are supporting the current information communication networks. SEIKOH GIKEN offers a variety of optical devices. LD modules in Metro and Long haul system need optical isolators. SEIKOH GIKEN provides various isolators, such as free space, ultra small size, receptacle-attached, and pigtailed. As the key devices for the fiber amplifiers, our inline isolators meet to various kind of wavelength and requirements. The optical electric field sensors and optical remote antennas are our products as well. Garnet films, and Rutile crystals, the key materials for optical devices, are manufactured inhouse. SEIKOH GIKEN produces many customers' design devices from raw materials.

Miniaturized Isotropic Optical Electric Field Sensor OEFS-S1 Outline Miniaturized Isotropic Electric Field Sensor (OEFS-S1) are developed for measuring 3D Electric Field of localized area with isotropy. The size of sensor is much smaller than the conventional type. The sensor consists of a limited use of metals such as antenna elements and small mirror to avoid generating electric field noises by metal parts themselves.
This sensor therefore will not distort the surrounding electric field and is suitable for measuring the near field pattern of an antenna for high frequency.

Optical Remote Antenna
Outline
Features
Optical remote antenna have been commercialized through joint development with NHK, NHK ITEC inc. These receivers modulate and transmit non-modulated light sent from a transmitting station to a duplex TV relay station, using radio waves being received. These are epoch-making radio-wave receiver-transmitters where highly sensitive optical modulators are used. Optical fibers are used as transmission lines. This eliminates the necessity of providing power supplies for the receiving stations, and electrically isolates the transmitting stations from the receiving stations, bringing a substantial benefit in preventing the occurrence of damage due to lightning. Use of passive circuits only in the receiving station improves reliability and serviceability.

• No need to provide power supply for the receiving station in a duplex TV relay station. • Not damaged by lightning. • Significant reduction in maintenance work for receiving stations.
Applications • Radio-wave transmission systems in FM, VHF and UHF bands.

For the receiver, a totally brand-new and originally developed optical modulator is used. The optical modulator, whose design is based on an optical waveguide Lithium niobate crystals and boasts high sensitivity and broad bandwidth, directly converts received signals into optical signals. In addition, the introduction of a special electrode structure and a resonance circuit realizes high sensitivity.
