SEL-FT50/SEL-FR12 System Installation Sheet SEL-FT50 Install the SEL-FT50 on a line using a hotstick. For best performance, orient the SEL-FT50 vertically. Antenna Choose any SEL 900 MHz antenna. SEL offers directional and omnidirectional antennas of various sizes. Contact SEL support or submit a path study if you need assistance choosing the correct antenna for your application. A complete list of antennas is also available in the SEL Radios Accessories Guide. Antenna Mounting Choose your mounting hardware. SEL’s directional antennas ship with the equipment needed to mount to a mast. For other antennas, order one of the following mounting ur application. hardware kits according to your 240-0105 Mast Mount for Omnidirectional Antennas 240-0103 Omnidirectional Antenna Mount for Poles up to 14 Inches in Diameter 240-0104 Yagi Antenna Mount for Poles up to 14 Inches in Diameter SEL-C968 N Connector SEL-C968 Cable—Surge Protector to Antenna Purchase an SEL-C968 Low-Loss LMR400 cable with N male connectors (50 ohm) to connect the antenna to the surge protector. Consider signal strength losses and their effect on link budget when choosing cable length. N Connector Surge Protector (200-2004) Purchase a Radio Surge Protector with N connectors (200-2004) to protect the SEL-FR12 from surge events on the antenna and cabling. Ensure that the surge protector is bulkhead mounted to a properly grounded metal surface. SEL-C975 N Connector SEL-C975 Cable—SEL-FR12 to Surge Protector Purchase an SEL-C975 RG-8X cable with BNC male to N male connector (50 ohm) to connect the antenna to the surge protector.
