Senior Design Project in Electrical Engineering GPS Spoof Detection using INS Data 1/c Scott Pratz, 1/c Benjamin Arocho Advisor: LCDR Kelly Seals Sponsor: C3CEN (Liaison: LT Christopher Morris) 36.009 GPS Antenna True Avg Track Ship COG Track 36.008 Location of Spoof 36.007 Latitude (Degrees) GPS Spoofing is an attack in which a ship’s GPS receivers are overpowered by false signals, displaying an incorrect position solution to the user. This project aims to reduce risk and increase integrity for reliance on GPS receivers in the Coast Guard by utilizing data given from the currently installed Mark-39 Inertial Navigation System (INS). The project utilizes GPS antenna route tracing comparisons to be able to determine if the GPS receiver’s displayed information is valid. 36.01 36.006 Received / Spoofed Antenna Track 36.005 36.004 36.003 36.002 Spoofing Scenario 1.
