If you are installing camera control modules, relay control modules, or two-way audio, refer to the detailed instructions in Chapter 2 — SensorLink PC Modules.
INSTALLING MODULES AT THE TRANSMITTER SITE
The Transmitter and all required modules must be installed at the site to be monitored. SensorLink PC modules are designed for quick, trouble-free installation. Module installation requires no test equipment and only a few basic tools. The following pages describe how to correctly install and connect the Transmitter and each module.
Module Model Numbers
We refer to modules with generic names instead of specific model numbers, except as necessary. Unless you are upgrading an existing Transmitter site, the specific model numbers are not critical for installation. Modules are identified by a two-letter code followed by a twodigit model number, e.g., TX51. TX is the two-letter code for Transmitters, CC for camera control modules, EX for video expansion modules, RC for relay control modules, TB for audio processor modules, and SX for audio expansion modules.
Selecting a Location
Select a location for your modules that is clean, dry and has AC power. Also, make sure temperature and humidity extremes do not exceed product specifications (see Appendix C — Technical Specifications). Modules may be installed on a flat surface or mounted on a suitable surface. On the TX51 Transmitter, mounting plates are provided for this purpose. With other modules, mounting screw holes are provided. CAUTION: Mounting screws for non-TX51 modules must NOT exceed 0.25” in exposed length! Using longer screws can result in damage to module circuitry.
0.25" max.

Cameras 1–4
Connect camera (1–4) to the video output of a camera or video expansion module. Camera input termination is programmable and can be changed remotely. The default termination state is “terminated (75 ohms).” See the SensorLink PC System Installation and Operation Manual for more information. The Transmitter accepts video signals from any properly installed standard video system (NTSC/EIA or PAL/CCIR, as determined by Transmitter configuration). The following factors can affect the quality of images obtained from the Transmitter: • Coaxial Cable — Long cable runs can cause signal deterioration and/or distortion. A standard 1.0 Volt peak-to-peak video signal should be delivered to the Transmitter. Install the correct type of quality coaxial cable and keep cable runs as short as possible. • Random Interlace Cameras — Using random interlace cameras can result in degraded transmission performance. True 2:1 interlace cameras provide the best results with SensorLink PC. When installing one or more video expansion modules, connect them to the camera connectors in sequence. See Installing Video Expansion Modules for more information.
Modem
NOTE: For best results, install the same make and model of communication device at the Transmitter and the Receiver. Connect a modem, TRA or RS-232 null modem data link to the modem connector using the appropriate data cable. This is a standard DB25-P connector. Use the pin assignments described under The Front Panel above to configure the cable. Null modem installation requires special wiring. Refer to Installing a Null Modem in the SensorLink PC System Installation and Operation Manual.
