INTRODUCTION: This bulletin explains the procedure for
converting GIII Plus venders built with T8 fluorescent lighting to a newer 24-volt LED lighting system.
The following areas of this vender contain voltage which can cause serious injury or even death: the main power cord, supplying 115-230 VAC to the evaporator, EMI filter, refrigeration system, monitor, and computer; the power line from the EMI filter to the ballast and transformer; and the ballast, which can produce upwards of 600 volts. Remove all power from the vender before working in any of these areas.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 79" Chameleon ADA (model 804) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13.
Remove power by unplugging the vender's power cord from the AC voltage source (wall outlet). Remove the fluorescent tubes from the vender's door. Remove all components of the existing lighting system from the door (light sockets, brackets, ballast, wiring, etc.). Install the two top lamp brackets (with dummy sockets) in the location shown in Figure 1. Secure these brackets with one #8 screw each (from the kit). Measure from the left edge of the bottom port brace and make a mark at 3 3/4" (95 mm). Then, measure from the right edge of the bottom port brace and make a mark at 6 5/32" (156 mm). At each mark, measure down 5/16" (8 mm) from the top of the brace, and make a second mark. (Refer to Figure 2.) Using a 7/64" (3 mm) bit, drill a hole at each mark created in Step 5. Install the two bottom lamp brackets atop the bottom port brace, as shown in Figure 1. Secure the brackets with one #8 screw each (from the kit). Note: Ensure the wiring between the two bottom sockets is routed below the product port. Install the power supply in a suitable location (generally in the same area the ballast was previously installed). Secure it with two #6 screws from the kit. Note: The mounting holes for these two screws will need to be drilled into the door using a 7/64" (3 mm) bit. Connect the harnessing from the power supply to both the LED harness and to the main door harness. (See Figure 3 for a wiring diagram.) Install the decal from the kit near the bottom lamp sockets. (Refer to Figure 4.) Secure all excess wiring with wire ties. Install the LED tubes. Note: The tubes are unidirectional. The end of the tube labeled "Input 24 VDC" must be installed in the bottom sockets. The tubes will not illuminate if installed incorrectly. Restore power by plugging the vender's power cord into the AC voltage source (wall outlet).

Install each top lamp bracket through the bottom slot, as shown here (Chameleon models 804 and 660).

Install each bottom lamp bracket atop the bottom port brace, as seen here (Chameleon model 804). Ensure that the wiring between the two brackets is routed below the port assembly.
After installing each bracket, secure it with one #8 screw from the kit.

1. Remove power by unplugging the vender's power cord from the AC voltage source (wall outlet). 2. Remove the fluorescent tubes from the vender's door. 3. Remove all components of the existing lighting system from the door (light sockets, brackets, ballast, wiring, etc.). 4. Install the two top lamp brackets (with dummy sockets) in the location shown in Figure 1. Secure these brackets with one #8 screw each (from the kit). 5. Measure from the left edge of the bottom port brace and make a mark at 3 3/4" (95 mm). Then, measure from the right edge of the bottom port brace and make a mark at 6 5/32" (156 mm). At each mark, measure down 5/16" (8 mm) from the top of the brace, and make a second mark. (Refer to Figure 2.) Repeat this step for the top port brace. 6. Using a 7/64" (3 mm) bit, drill a hole at each mark created in Step 5. 7. Install the two bottom lamp brackets atop the bottom port brace, as shown in Figure 5. Secure the brackets with two #8 screws each (from the kit), one in the top port brace and one in the bottom port brace. Note: Ensure the wiring between the two bottom sockets is routed below the product port. 8. Install the power supply in a suitable location (generally in the same area the ballast was previously installed). Secure it with two #6 screws from the kit. Install this lamp bracket assembly in the top slot, as shown. Install the lower lamp bracket assembly in the slot shown here along the hinge side of the door.
Installation of this lamp bracket assembly is similar to installation on the 72" Wide Chameleon. See Figure 5 for instructions on installing this bracket assembly.

Install the top left lamp bracket (with dummy socket) in the location shown in Figure 7. Secure the bracket with one #8 screw (from the kit). 6. Measure from the left edge of the bottom port brace and make a mark at 3 3/4" (95 mm). At the mark, measure down 5/16" (8 mm) from the top of the brace, and make a second mark. (Refer to Figure 8.) 7. Using a 7/64" (3 mm) bit, drill a hole at the mark created in Step 6.

Install the lamp bracket above the port. The right edge of the bracket will be 10 31/32" (278 mm) from the right side of the door chassis. Secure the bracket with two #8 screws, as shown here.

Secure it with two screws and two nuts (from the kit). 11. Install the top right lamp bracket assembly in the location shown in Figure 12. Secure it with two #8 screws, using the same holes that were previously used to secure the transformer before it was removed. 12. Reconnect the wiring to the transformer. 13. Install the power supply in a suitable location (generally in the same area the ballast was previously installed). Secure it with two #6 screws from the kit. Note: The mounting holes for these two screws will need to be drilled into the door using a 7/64" (3 mm) bit. 14. Connect the harnessing from the power supply to both the LED harness and to the main door harness. (See Figure 3 for a wiring diagram.) 15. Install the decal from the kit near the bottom lamp sockets. (Refer to Figure 4.) 16. Secure all excess wiring with wire ties. 17. Install the LED tubes. Note: The tubes are unidirectional. The following areas of this vender contain voltage which can cause serious injury or even death: the main power cord, supplying 115-230 VAC to the evaporator, EMI filter, refrigeration system, monitor, and computer; the power line from the EMI filter to the ballast and transformer; and the ballast, which can produce upwards of 600 volts. Remove all power from the vender before working in any of these areas.
Remove power by unplugging the vender's power cord from the AC voltage source (wall outlet). Remove the fluorescent tubes from the vender's door. Remove all components of the existing lighting system from the door (light sockets, brackets, ballast, wiring, etc.). Disconnect and remove the transformer from the top of the door. Install the top left lamp bracket (with dummy socket) in the location shown in Figure 7. Secure the bracket with one #8 screw (from the kit). Install the bottom left lamp bracket in the location shown in Figure 13. Secure the bracket with one #8 screw (from the kit). Install the bottom right lamp bracket in the location shown in Figure 10. Secure the lamp bracket with two #8 screws (from the kit). Note: The mounting holes for this bracket are already present in the port brace. Ensure the wiring between the two bottom sockets is routed below the product port. Install the transformer on the top right lamp bracket, as shown in Figure 14. Secure it with two screws and two nuts (from the kit). Install the top right lamp bracket assembly in the location shown in Figure 12. Secure it with two #8 screws, using the same holes that were previously used to secure the transformer before it was removed. Reconnect the wiring to the transformer. Install the power supply in a suitable location (generally in the same area the ballast was previously installed). Secure it with two #6 screws from the kit. Note: The mounting holes for these two screws will need to be drilled into the door using a 7/64" (3 mm) bit. Connect the harnessing from the power supply to both the LED harness and to the main door harness. (See Figure 3 for a wiring diagram.) Install the decal from the kit near the bottom lamp sockets. (Refer to Figure 4.) Secure all excess wiring with wire ties. Install the LED tubes. Note: The tubes are unidirectional. The end of the tube labeled "Input 24 VDC" must be installed in the bottom sockets. The tubes will not illuminate if installed incorrectly. Restore power by plugging the vender's power cord into the AC voltage source (wall outlet).
