Set up Mac Laptop on the Promethean activBoard VGA cable is used to project the laptop through the projector. We have extras USB cable is used to make the board interactive. Step 1: Getting Mac laptop to display through your projector 1. Disconnect the VGA cable from the back of your teacher desktop and connect it to your Mac laptop using the VGA adapter you received. (This will allow the Mac to display through projector.) 2. Now you are ready to mirror the laptop so it will display (it’s the same process when you have to clone normally on your teacher station.) 3. Click on the Apple icon on the top left of your screen and choose System Preferences: 4. Open Displays: Sharon Thornton- Instructional Media Set up Mac Laptop on the Promethean activBoard In the Display window, click Arrangement tab. Important note: You will not see the Arrangement tab if you haven’t connected your Mac to the projector listed in the steps above. (since it won’t “see” the projector.) Make sure the Mirror Displays option is checked. Note: The resolution on your laptop will change but will return to normal when you disconnect the cable. The resolution on the Promethean board should be fine. You can change the resolution if you don’t like the appearance. Set up Mac Laptop on the Promethean activBoard Click on Display tab to change your screen resolution People who have experimented say that 1344 X 1048 works best. Step 2: Make the Promethean Board Interactive 1. Download the activInspire software and driver on your Mac while at school at the following location(or enter a work order at http://servicedesk.gpisd.org Z:\campus\ywla\All Staff\Technology\Promethean ActivBoards\ActivInspire Software Downloads Choose the highlighted driver: ActivInspire+v1.7.&_Driver_for_32_&_64_bit_updated_August_16_2013.dmg ActivInspire Key- 0015-4097-6376-2378-1374 Sharon Thornton- Instructional Media Set up Mac Laptop on the Promethean activBoard 2. Disconnect the USB cable from the back of your teacher station. • It may be the orange one that still plugs into the wall port. • It may be the regular one that plugs into the Promethean board itself (if we redid yours) 3. Plug this end into your Mac laptop. 4. Calibrate your board as usual.
