Please note that it is very important that your system meets the minimum requirements. You are participating in a classroom environment and, just like in a traditional classroom, ineffective communication can have a negative impact on the experience not only for you, but also for your peers in the classroom. ! Minimum Network Requirements • Your network should provide a consistent minimum of 1Mbps Download and .5 Mbps Upload. You can check your network speed at www.speedtest.net. • Performing the iMVP Setup tests in this document will ensure a firewall or other factors are not blocking your access to the iMVP Classroom and Lab Environment. Don’t Use WiFi Tip For best results, we strongly recommend using a wired network connection instead of a wireless network. To ensure your computer is using your network, plug in your network cable and turn off WiFi. Minimum PC Requirements • CPU, RAM, and Graphics Requirements • Intel Core 2 Duo or i3 2.4 Ghz • AMD Phenom II x4 910 2.6 Ghz • 3 GB RAM • Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista SP2, or Windows XP SP3 required • Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Internet Explorer 7+. • Note: IE 10 is not currently supported Use the provided webcam and headset Other web cameras and microphones can be used, but we strongly encourage the use of the camera and headset included with your iMVP package. CPU speed and performance can be severely decreased by use of older web cameras. Internal microphones and speakers can significantly decrease sound quality. iMVP with RDP Lab Setup Guide For Windows 4 2 iMVP Classroom Connection iMVP with RDP Lab Setup Guide For Windows 5 Setup 1 - Connecting to the iMVP Classroom What is this setup? This setup installs the iMVP software needed on your computer so your browser can connect to the iMVP classrooms. The setup will also ask you to enter the iMVP test classroom, from where you can confirm your system is working prior to the class. It is very important that you connect to the iMVP test classroom as soon as possible to confirm that your computer and network are compatible with our system. We don’t want you to miss the first portion of your class while troubleshooting your connection. The iMVP Team is here to help If you have any difficulties completing the setup, if you have any questions, or if you would like someone to join you in the iMVP test classroom, just email [email protected] or call 1-844-ASK-iMVP. You will receive an iMVP kit in the mail. This kit includes your USB headset & web camera. 1) Plug the headset that you received into your computer. You may use your own headset if you prefer. We request that you use a headset during the class because it improves the audio quality you hear, and reduces background noise for other students. 2) Plug the web camera that you received into your computer. We request that you not use an older web camera as they may reduce CPU performance and video quality. When you plug the web camera into your computer, it will likely automatically install drivers for the web camera. If it does not, you may run the installation program on the CD that came with it or go to the camera maker’s web site to download software. 3) Go to www.imvpinfo.com/getstarted/software/imvp-with-rdp-windows.exe and download the setup file. 4) When you have downloaded the setup file, run the installation program. This file will install the following programs on your computer: • iMVP Classroom Connection Software (for your browser) • iMVP Lab Connection Software (OpenVPN, a VPN client program) 5) When the install program starts, you will see the following window. Click Next to begin. iMVP with RDP Lab Setup Guide For Windows 6 Setup 1 - Connecting to the iMVP Classroom - continued 6) Next, the install program will automatically download and extract the iMVP programs. 7) Click OK when you see the following setup confirmation window. 8) Click Finish when you see the following window to exit the installation program. iMVP with RDP Lab Setup Guide For Windows 7 Setup 1 - Connecting to the iMVP Classroom - continued ! 9) Reboot your computer before continuing! This setup does two things so you can access the remote lab used in your class: 1) Make a connection to the lab computer: Installs the VPN (Virtual Private Network) software needed on your computer to securely connect to our remote lab servers. VPN is a common piece of software used for secure connections over the Internet. For this setup we use OpenVPN. 2) View the lab computer: With the remote lab secure connection established, you will use Windows Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) program to remotely view your lab computer. This will give you direct access to a computer setup specifically for your class (just as if you were sitting at an instructor-led classroom computer). It is very important that you setup and test your remote lab connection with these steps prior to the class. We don’t want you to miss the first portion of your class while troubleshooting your connection. Hosts and Ports ! You will not be able to access the remote lab if your firewall blocks access to these servers or ports. Hosts: lab1.exitcertified.com, lab2.exitcertified.com, lab3.exitcertified.com Ports: TCP 443, TCP 943, UDP 1194 VPN Secure Connection Setup 1) Start OpenVPN by clicking the desktop shortcut provided as part of Step 1. iMVP with RDP Lab Setup Guide For Windows 12 Setup 2 - Connecting to the Remote Lab - continued 2) Your browser will open to the network server.
