The words you choose. The font you use. The colors, graphics and imagery you use to communicate. The way you use the logo. These are the key building blocks that help tell the Shiloh Christian Saints story and shape people’s perception of Shiloh Christian Athletics. Perfection is in the details. Underlying all Shiloh brand expressions is a detailed, well-ordered system of treatments. This unified system is a visual expression of the values associated with the Shiloh Christian experience. Use accents and effects as complementary devices to elevate the ordinary or to accentuate form and function. For best results, keep it clean and simple. SHILOH CHRISTIAN SAINTS BRAND IDENTITY GUIDE 3 WHERE TO BEGIN Within the framework of this book are the elements you need to articulate the Shiloh Christian Saints Brand. While consistency is important, you won’t find a rubber stamp. Instead, you will discover all of the tools you need to deliver a range of visual expressions. As you determine which story to tell and how you want to tell it, you can rely on the components of this book to empower inspiration. BRAND ATTRIBUTES Brand Attributes are a set of characteristics that represent the essence of the Shiloh Christian brand. These attributes identify personality traits and help create our brand identity. We want our brand to reflect our mission statement. Our goal is to develop CHAMPIONS Spiritually, Academically, Athletically. We believe that athletics is one of the most effective tools for teaching our students about life. Through this, we want to use athletics to glorify GOD and spread the gospel through our play. BRAND OVERVIEW We have created the building blocks for communicating the Shiloh Brand Identity in a unified, consistent way. Comprised of core elements including logo, color and font, as well as extended expressions including treatments and textures, this wide range of tools is designed to be flexible and expandable—so you can use your creativity to innovate across all media. To effectively define the Shiloh Christian Saints brand experience, these core elements must be aligned across every touch point. The following sections provide creative guidance on how to use the palette of visual assets and build equity in the brand identity. With a shared design sensibility we can use each element to elevate the Shiloh Brand in a way that is distinctive and at once immediately recognizable as Shiloh. The brand identity reinforces Shiloh Christian’s commitment to serve its student-athletes by creating an environment that fosters the achievement of each individual’s potential in the classroom and upon the field of competition. 4 SHILOH CHRISTIAN SAINTS BRAND IDENTITY GUIDE SHILOH CHRISTIAN SAINTS BRAND IDENTITY GUIDE 5 PRIMARY IDENTITY - THE INTERLOCKED SC For many years, Shiloh Christian Athletics struggled to find one true identity. The school had used many logos throughout the years, but there was not one logo that when seen could be clearly identified as the Shiloh Christian Saints. In 2004, Shiloh started using a variation of the current logo, The Interlocked SC. This logo is strong, clear, clean, and encompasses the championship tradition that is Shiloh Christian Saints Athletics. Shiloh has made slight changes and defined proper usage and guideline to ensure consistent use of The Interlocked SC. 6 SHILOH CHRISTIAN SAINTS BRAND IDENTITY GUIDE SHILOH CHRISTIAN SAINTS BRAND IDENTITY GUIDE 7 COLOR VARIATION * *Note: This is the ONLY way The Interlocked SC should be displayed with 2 outlines. White base, with navy, then gold outline. 8 SHILOH CHRISTIAN SAINTS BRAND IDENTITY GUIDE COLOR PALETTE When it comes to communicating the Shiloh Christian Saints brand, color is quintessential. The following color configurations show how Shiloh’s colors can be expanded analogously to build harmonious color palettes and complementary pairings. Color provides a strong visual link to our brand identity across a wide range of applications. At times, an opportunity arises to utilize an expanded color palette or colors outside of the core palette. This is typically seen in the occasional use of a unique uniform, like those that support special initiatives such as breast cancer or honoring U.S. military service members. Though acceptable for special occasions, utilizing colors outside of the primary color palette is not intended for long-term use. PRIMARY COLOR PALETTE Navy Blue and Shiloh Gold serve as the primary colors for the Saints. These have been the primary colors for Shiloh Christian since the switch from Royal Blue and Steeler Gold took place in the mid 1990’s. Navy Blue represents responsibility, knowledge, power, and integrity. The color gold is the color of success, achievement and triumph. SECONDARY COLOR PALETTE White is the single secondary color for the Saints. White signifies confidence and honesty. SHILOH GOLD The visual sensation usually associated with the metal gold is its metallic shine. This cannot be reproduced by a simple solid color, because the shiny effect is due to the material's reflective brightness varying with the surface's angle to the light source. When using Shiloh Gold, Pantone 873 C is a metallic spot color and should only be used when being printed as such. If Shiloh Gold is being reproduced on a CMYK process printer, Pantone 465 C for Shiloh Gold in place of Pantone 873 C. Always ask the printer if they are capable of producing a metallic print. If they are able to, Pantone 873 C is the correct color. If they are unable to, Pantone 465 C is the correct color. In Christianity, a Saint is any believer who is "in Christ" and in whom Christ dwells, whether in heaven or in earth. It is our desire to see all of our students wear the title of Saints with pride. To compliment the primary mark, an armored Saint has been designed for use across all of Shiloh Christian Athletics. "Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything, to stand." Ephesians 6:11-13, NIV The armor of God consists of six pieces. The Belt of Truth, The Breastplate of Righteousness, The Shoes of Peace, The Shield of Faith, The Helmet of Salvation, and The Sword of the Spirit. The fifth piece of God’s armor, The Helmet of Salvation, is represented by the Roman soldier’s helmet, without which he would never enter battle. Some of the helmets were made of thick leather covered with metal plates, and others were of heavy molded or beaten metal. The Roman helmet, like helmets today, protected the head from the attacks of the enemy. The right font, used consistently, builds character. To assist in creating a consistent look for a wide variety of athletics communications, a font and custom wordmarks have been designed to enhance the overall brand. The official font for Shiloh Christian Athletics is “BankGothic Md Bt”. Representations of the words Shiloh Christian Saints have become visual symbols of the Shiloh Athletics. These custom wordmarks incorporate unique design elements in the body of the letterforms to visually differentiate the school’s name and mascot from other schools. Used in isolation or alongside other marks, they create a powerful, exclusive look that works in support of the primary identity. We have updated and given correct color combinations to the Saints Script. The Saints Script is meant for use in both boys and girls Shiloh Christian Athletics. It is important to note that we do not permit the use of the Script mark with the Interlocked SC. These two marks should never be put together, they each stand alone as their own logo. Also, the Saints Script should always be accompanied by our official font below it, whether that be “Athletics” or sport-specific, such as “Basketball”. That doesn’t mean everything has to look the same. Using the brand identity system in a consistent manner will build credibility for the brand, speed recognition and differentiate Shiloh Christian from the competition. As you evolve the design elements of current design systems, remember that one of the cornerstones of a memorable brand experience is continued, consistent expression of that brand. You can now infuse any expression with precisely the right tone to support the right marketing message for your audience. Do not alter our designs or font as seen below.
