4. Gently pull up the grinding unit from the housing & tilt a slight angle , to see the motor connections from below .The connectors are marked with a (+ve) & a (-ve) label & wires are color coded. Make note of the wire color ( in this grinder : Plus = white; Minus = blue color). If wire colors are different then transparent wire is +ve & black is -ve. Yet other grinder motors may be without any label. To pull the two wires, do not apply force alone. There is a small locking contraption inside the connector. Press it with a small metallic tip to unlock & pull the connectors off easily (see red arrow). In newer models, a heat sensor is installed on one side of the grinder, clamped with a plastic holder. Cut through the cable tie & remove the sensor holder & heat sensor. Now the grinder assembly is ready to be removed.

5. The grinder funnel is fixed with a cable tie or a screw. Note the bottom of the funnel there are tiny spreads on the hopper plate. To remove, press the spreads with your fingers together ( blue arrows) and slide the hopper out of the guide. The grinder can now be replaced.

If the terminals of the new grinder motor are not marked with plus and minus, the same can be determined using the following method: Look at the grinder motor from the bottom with the ground coffee outlet to the top. Divided the bottom in 2 halves with imaginary yellow line. The left half is ( shown in red ) is the +ve contact and the right half ( shown in blue) is the -ve contact. Another method used for +ve connection is by looking on the side of the motor ( see circle in red on the image to the right) .
-Insert the 3 rivets into the rubber buffer and place the grinding unit in the housing while paying attention to the wires, so that they are not pinched / damaged. Fasten the grinding unit with the 3 screws Torx 10th. (use gentle force to tighten !
-Before further assembly, check the rotation of the motor. The motor spins clockwise. Replace the cover on the machine & on the bean container. Cover the openings of the IR - bean monitoring some crepe or tape (no transparent tape ! )

We see extensive Calcium deposits in almost every espresso machine we open for repairs. Filter cartridges are preventative, expensive & ineffective as descaler. The Brita filter installed on the kitchen faucet works better than expensive Jura filters. Calcium sediment inside the machine cause the following problems: (1) reduces flow of water with full or partial clogging. (2) generate back pressure in the Hydraulic system & cause internal leaks. (3) reduce pump pressure, reduce flow of coffee & water for coffee collects in drain tray instead (4) Error codes "Fill water" or Ventilate will display & force expensive repairs. Descaling is best done manually, every two or three months. Order Best descaler (#DSC-6) from our online store for effective & authentic descaling.
