The Williams family started in retail in Holmes Chapel in 1875 (Opened by Godfrey Williams Grandfather) which was run by Ivor and his brother Godfrey until Godfrey married Maureen. It was then that this branch of the family moved to Sandbach and Godfrey Williams opened his first shop in 1957 with his wife Maureen at 1 Middlewich Road / Hightown. Along with the shop in Hightown Godfrey opened another location where the Royal Bank of Scotland now stands in Bold Street and then in 1982 they moved into its present position on the Market Square. Established in 1977. Run by Will and Karen Shingler.
