About SIM2 HDR 47
Series SIM2 HDR visualization platform, based on HDR47 monitor Series, is a new tool with a wide potential applications. It was born as a proof of concept and technological excellence, it has quickly found many applications in the engineering and computerized rendering fields, as well as in many other areas that before its introduction were facing heavy restrictions in the ordinary monitors available on the market. In short, the innovation brought by the HDR47 monitors is the ability to simultaneously visualize brightness levels from 0 to 6.500 nits, that is equal to 5 orders of magnitude (traditional monitors can reach 2 or 3 orders of magnitude). In practice this is the similar brightness range the human visual system can perceive simultaneously: looking at an image on or monitor is like looking through a window! The results are a perfect image with outstanding technical specifications, but the major outcome is the realization of a new kind of working tool. SIM2’s project for HDR47 Series is more than just a monitor, even if so special. A single piece of hardware wouldn’t have been enough because of the high precision and peculiarity of the target applications. According to this spirit, SIM2 goes further and is devoted to providing support and technical advice. Custom drivers may be developed upon request. SIM2

Modes and Inputs
SIM2 HDR47 provides 3 modes for proper content/input management: • NORMAL MODE: has been implemented thanks to the powerful integrated programmable board that can take charge of converting a standard signal into an HDR image, allowing to get very impressive images from a standard HD source. The normal mode allows a plug and play way to use SIM2 HDR47 monitor with remarkable results. • HDR MODE: In the HDR MODE, the monitor is fed with true HDR data, through a dedicated Log (L), u, v input encoding format. This mode is easily implemented on the software side or use our HDR Player Software. • DVI-Plus MODE: When a total degree of control is requested, it is possible to go even further choosing to directly and independently drive backlight LEDs and panel with the “DVI-Plus Mode”. In this case the user can freely manage 8 bit of data depth for each color of the panel plus the 12 bits data depth of the 2202 LEDs individual light level. This “DVI-Plus” mode is very useful for scientific and testing purposes or in any situation where controlling every variable is vital to the result.

SIM2’s R&D department challenged itself to combine the latest technological advances, extraordinary design thinking and top-class performance into a product that is unmistakably SIM2. The use of LASER technology allows HI 110-SIM2(1) to reach a maximum brightness of 2900 Ansi Lumens almost instantaneously. Also, LASER technology makes the HI 110-SIM2 a truly “Green display”: no mercury lamps and no need of lamp replacement, thus avoiding the pollution caused during lamp disposal. An adjustable light engine ensure that HI 110-SIM2 can be perfectly positioned to the wall/screen. HI 110-SIM2 has micrometric adjustments(2) to achieve optimum alignment. The finishing touch is that all that is visible is the top crystal glass surface. An elaborate process is applied to the surface of the crystal-glass to ensure that any unwanted stray light is tightly controlled. SIM2’s R&D department used complex raytracing analysis to finalize the specifications of the coatings.
HI 110-SIM2 must be placed in a forced air flow rack design or furniture that uses fans or blowers to remove heat and ensure a steady flow of air through the rack enclosure.

DLP® from Texas Instruments is the choice of technology for long lasting quality and conveys extraordinary image quality that brings out the smallest details . A new high-power 460W lamp enables HG 8.3–SIM2 to provide up to 5500 ANSI-lumens on-screen. In order to obtain the best projected image accuracy, a delicate balance is required between the light engine, the DLP® chipset and the video processing electronics. Building on its heritage of high-end light engine design, SIM2 has invested heavily in the development of a highprecision telecentric optical system. The pure-glass lens provides an unprecedented resolution to guarantee exceptional on-screen clarity. Special coatings have been applied to the optical components to further enhance image and color performance. Installation aids include fully motorized zoom and focus, plus optical lens shift to adjust the position of the image up to 75% vertically and 30% horizontally. To aid calibration, the HG 8.3–SIM2 projector features SIM2’s advanced Live Colors Calibration 2.0 software that allows professional calibration of all projection parameters such as complete adjustment of the primary, secondary and white point color coordinates. HG 8.3–SIM2›s crystal-glass cabinet adds a design touch to suit any enviroment style.

SIM2 Color Management The presence of SIM2 Color Management, a unique Color Calibration Algorithm of P7 type, allows the user to move the coordinates (x, y) of all the Main Colors in the Gamut Triangle with high precision, taking them exactly where it is needed. All the Main Colors means each of them, even the Secondaries (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow): DCI Gamut specifications must be met with a tolerance close to zero, and Color Reference projector series was designed and optimized to fully respect these specifications. White has several internal presets, factory set, but can be moved virtually anywhere, even with the simple IR remote control.

Engineered for the most demanding installations, HB7-SIM2 brings a balanced approach to high brightness projection, with a quality of picture that rivals that of the best projectors in its category. Designed to be used with large screen sizes or in brightly-lit light room conditions, where high light output is a necessity, HB 7-SIM2’s optical elements maximize light output (7,000 Ansi Lumens) from its dual high power UHP lamps (2x 350W). This is a star performer that has the power and clarity to satisfy the most demanding viewer and the ability to deliver bright, rich images in real-world lighting conditions.
HB 7-SIM2 features a Calibration probe (optional) interfaced with the projector’s built-in processing electronics that allows (through refined feedback algorithms) a real time reaction to the environmental conditions. HB 7-SIM2 advanced connectivity: Full Monitoring and Software Upgrade - through a dedicated IP address and a port, service centers can connect with the projector, which will in-turn communicate back a parameter list (i.e. Serial Number, Firmware version, lamp hours used, selected input and resolution, image settings etc.). The service center will have the capability to evaluate a reported issue with the projector and make the necessary adjustments (where possible) to rectify the issue - remotely. HB 7-SIM2 also utilizes full 10 Bit video processing, with high definition scaling and de-interlacing capabilities, to create the highest video images quality from all sources (including 3D). HB 7-SIM22 comes with focus and lens shift memory feature. HB 7-SIM2 features PureMovie, PureAction, and PureAction 3D modes - each optimized for the various demands of computer, movie, sport and 3D viewing – and SIM2’s Live Colors Calibration 2 software that enables complete adjustment of the primary, secondary and white point color coordinates of the projector.

Based on Digital Light Processing® technology from Texas Instruments and state-of-the-art proprietary optical engine, the 70” rear-projection modules have been designed to yield bright and high contrast image display, featuring high resolution, good brightness uniformity, excellent colorimetry and grey level rendering on large screens. Special design effort has resulted in noise and flicker free projection. The variety of different available analog and digital inputs allows the 70” cube to be effectively used both for graphic data and video pictures display. These modules incorporate “Zero Mullion” screen and sophisticated mechanical alignment to produce a near seamless image across even the largest digital wall. Versatile Image Control For display operations, these modules can easily be connected to an external image controller for multiple input window managing. Moreover, the internal image processing and resizing capabilities of the SDV series can be effectively exploited in smaller applications, thanks to the number of different analog and digital input connections. Continuous monitoring and control of the videowall operating parameters during operations is achieved through a serial protocol based control software, via RS485/232 connection or, optionally, via USB port or even via LAN.
MAINTENANCE: From the rear service panel, service engineers and installation technicians can easily access the rear-projection engine, lamp, electronics optics and first surface glass mirror in a few minutes, hence keeping the maintenance downtime at minimum. Lamp replacement and dust deposit removal are only routine operations to be easily done from time to time. 30
