5.4
Establishing a Bluetooth connection (SIMATIC MV325) Note Using the SIMATIC MV325 in an area where there is WLAN communication If you use the SIMATIC MV325 in an area where there is WLAN communication, this may result in interference. We therefore recommend that you select the 5 GHz frequency range for the WLAN communication and take this into account in the radio field planning. Note Keyboard adaptation for a Bluetooth connection • Scan in the relevant codes (Page 67) for keyboard adaptation. The codes for keyboard adaptation in the batch mode are not effective for a Bluetooth connection.

Establishing the connection To establish a Bluetooth connection from the charging station with the integrated Bluetooth modem: 1. Slide the switch for the communication mode ① on the charging/Bluetooth modem station in the direction of the arrow to Bluetooth. 2. Scan in the QuickConnect code ③. The QuickConnect code is on the front of the charging/Bluetooth modem station or on the external Bluetooth modem. While the connection is being established, the symbol for a wireless connection ④ at the top of the reader flashes. The blue LED ② on the charging station or on the Bluetooth modem also flashes while the connection is being established. As soon as the connection has been established successfully, the blue LED ② is lit permanently. The reader beeps once and the wireless symbol ④ is lit constantly.

Operation 6.1
Working with the SIMATIC MV320 reader
Without metal stand
1. Hold down the trigger button of the reader. 2. The two blue beams sent out by the reader are used for targeting. The blue beams must be directed to the center of the barcode. The ideal read distance between the device and barcode is approximately 10 cm. As soon as the reader is at the optimum read distance, the barcode is read. To confirm that the barcode was read correctly, the reader generates a beep, vibrates and a green LED flashes. Note Changing factory settings To change factory settings, scan in the appropriate code: refer to the section SIMATIC MV320 code configurations (Page 55).

Operation 6.1 Working with the SIMATIC MV320 reader
With metal stand/with stand detection
The hardware product version 2 of the reader has stand detection. By default, the reader automatically changes to the motion detection mode when it is placed on the stand. In this mode, the reader is activated by holding a barcode in the scanner field. To confirm that the barcode was read correctly, the reader generates a beep, vibrates and a green LED flashes. When the reader is taken off the stand, it changes to manual mode: ● To read a barcode, you need to press the trigger button (see "Without metal stand").
With metal stand / without stand detection The hardware product version 1 of the reader does not have automatic stand detection with which barcode reading on detection of motion is activated when the reader is placed on the stand. ● To configure this hardware product version for scanning on detection of motion, scan in the appropriate code: refer to the section SIMATIC MV320 code configurations (Page 55).

Aligning the SIMATIC MV325 reader
1. Press a button or the trigger button of the reader. 2. Hold down the button or trigger button. The two blue beams sent out by the reader are used for targeting. 3. The blue beams must be directed to the center of the barcode. If the barcode is in the viewing field of the device and at the optimum read distance (approximately 10 cm from the device), the barcode will be read automatically. The reader beeps and vibrates and the read confirmation LED flashes green.

Operation 6.3 Setting the communication mode (SIMATIC MV325)
6.3
Setting the communication mode (SIMATIC MV325) Charging stations with an integrated Bluetooth modem are equipped with a switch for the communication mode ①. With this switch, the reader can transfer data either via the Bluetooth modem or via a cable connection.
①
Switch for the communication mode
Wireless communication via Bluetooth modem ● If you move the switch for the communication mode ① to the right in the direction of the arrow, the reader communicates via the Bluetooth modem. ● To establish a Bluetooth link, you need to scan the QuickConnect code on the front of the charging station. The scanned data is then transferred wirelessly to the host device. Cable communication To transfer scanned data in cable mode, you need to place the reader in the charging station so that data can be transferred to the host device. ● If a cable connection is required, move the switch for the communication mode ① to the left. ● For USB download mode or USB keyboard mode, you need to scan in the activation code of the batch mode.

Communication in batch mode (SIMATIC MV325)
Communication in the USB communication mode The reader can be configured in such a way that data can be acquired and transferred in the batch mode using USB communication. To be able to communicate with the reader and the charging station in the USB download mode: ● Skip step 1 and continue with step 2. To allow the reader to communicate with a charging station in the cable USB download mode, follow the steps below: 1. Move the switch ① for the communication mode on the charging station to the left in the opposite direction of the arrow:
2. Scan the configuration barcode of the preferred batch mode:

4. To transfer the acquired data to the host device, place the reader in the charging station. The reader starts to transfer the data after 5 s. The delay allows the host device to prepare itself to receive the data. Note Keyboard adaptation in batch mode • Scan in the relevant codes (Page 68) for keyboard adaptation. The codes for keyboard adaptation with a Bluetooth connection are not effective in batch mode.

Maintenance and upkeep The reader requires little maintenance. Below, you will find several useful tips on upkeep and maintenance. To ensure optimum performance of the reader, the window of the reader must be clean. The window is the colorless plastic part in the head of the reader. The reader works with CMOS technology in much the same way as a digital camera. A dirty window could have the result that the reader is no longer capable of reading barcodes. ● If the window is dirty, clean it with a soft, non-abrasive cloth or a cosmetic wipe (without lotion and not impregnated) and a little water. ● You can also use a mild cleansing agent: Then wipe the window with a damp cloth.
Approved cleaning agents The following products have been approved for cleaning the SIMATIC MV320: ● Wipes soaked in alcohol ● Clorox® disinfecting wipes ● Clorox® bleach solution (10% bleach, 90% tap water) ● Medical DiAirKem ● Sani-Cloth® HB, Super Sani-Cloth® germicidal, Sani-Cloth® Plus germicidal disposable wipes ● Virex® II disinfectant cleaner

Motion detection with the reader with and without stand detection If the reader is placed on a stand, the reader with stand detection automatically switches to the motion detection mode. ● When the code for "Disable Motion Detection with Stand Detection" is scanned in, the reader switches to the motion detection mode. Detection depends on whether or not the reader is on a stand. ● To disable motion detection, you need to scan in the code for "Disable Motion Detection with Stand Detection" and "Motion Detection Scanning Off". ● To enable motion detection on readers with stand detection after disabling motion detection: You need to scan in the code for "Enable Motion Detection with Stand Detection" ● To enable motion detection on readers without stand detection: You need to scan in the required code for "Motion Detection On".
